25.01.2022 Stretching your hamstrings is a bit like leading a reluctant mule. If you pull the mule, it will pull back. But you can coax the mule along if you make friends with it. Help the beast relax, give it a nice place to go, and it will happily follow you. To help liberate your hamstrings, you can try two techniques. In the first, you consciously relax the muscles. In the second, less intuitive method, you build strength in your hamstrings at ever greater muscle lengths by conscio...usly contracting them while simultaneously creating a stretch. The second method also helps keep your hamstrings strong even as they loosen up. Both methods teach you to be deeply focused, present, and contented in each moment of practice. In other words, both are yoga, not simply stretching. Yoga for Older Grown ups are shown here using a yoga strap under the soft toe padding and gently straightening the leg using the breath to find the sweet spot of extension and ease. Join us on Mondays and Wednesdays in the coastwatchers park, trinity beach at 9:30 am -11:15. We all work with our bodies, showing kindness and care. 17.01.2022 Yoga for Older Grown Ups classes in Coastwatcher park, Trinity beach, Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30am. We practice under the magnificent shady trees behind the Red Cross thrift shop. Park near near the cutest toilet block in Australia and walk into the park, coming early to get set up. Under the trees we are able to practice social distancing, with all yogis bringing their own everything. You will need a yoga mat, two yoga blocks, a belt or strap, and a Bunnings folding c...hair, set up on a picnic blanket to enable you to spread out on the grass. The focus of our practice is to increase our mobility and flexibility, while building balance and strength, using props to support the poses. Cost is $10 per class or $50 for 6 classes. All you need to do is download the Zoom app (its free and looks like a blue square) and then click on the link below, or in the personal invtation I may have already sent you if you're on my yoga mailing list. ... What you need ..... a laptop, Ipad, or smart tv connection ....log in at 9:15 just to be sure, then rest in svasana till class starts at 9.30am a quiet spot to set up your mat, a sturdy chair nearby, two yoga blocks if you have them, or substitute some thick books, a small pillow a strap (from your dressing gown, or a scarf or tie, or the dogs lead ....) a water bottle a bit of patience and hope to ensure technology doesn't let us down.
