25.01.2022 Hoof trims, a team effort! Even Bert and Ernie from quality control () got involved. I think Tim(farrier) loves to hear René's yarns about working in aged care, makes him feel like hoof trimming is a lovely, easy job!

14.01.2022 I nearly didn't answer the phone when I saw 'unknown number', thinking it was someone wanting to sell me solar panels or LED lights or whatever. The lady ringing me however wanted to speak to me about my business and asked at the end of the call if I minded a call from a journalist from the local newspaper, well THAT was a surprise! Last Thursday we had a chat and today the Narrandera Argus has this lovely article!

11.01.2022 So satisfying to see that what's trained without bullying gets retained so well! Haven't seen this one and her friend for a month and she came up pretty much straight away so I could (still carefully) put the headstall on and she was even requesting bum scratches. This is the one that was rushing at me teeth bared in one of the first sessions a month ago. Her Chestnut friend I wouldn't trust just yet if she came and pushed her backside into me, I think that would still mean something completely different from her! :)

04.01.2022 And with these two 3 year olds able to float load and the foal wearing a headstall and knowing the basics of leading this job has come to an end for this year. Five yearlings, 2 three year olds and a foal, all able to be caught, led, feet picked up and float loaded. Certainly a first for me to work with completely unhandled horses of that age but it's been very rewarding. Wish I could follow their stories as they move on to new homes.

02.01.2022 Handling foals and getting them used to being touched everywhere at this early age is, in my opinion, incredibly important for their future life. No stress, no restraints, just a friendly touch that's a welcome change from the flies. Everyone got liberal applications of fly repellent ointment today, dogs and horses but forgot myself and the flies wasted no time in transferring their attentions to me! Ouch!!!
