19.01.2022 Yilli Housing manages the houses in the Community (Town Camps) across the Darwin Region. Yilli worked closely with the NT Government's Town Camps Futures Unit to renovate houses in the Community. This project is known as the Town Camp Project. Valemina White is a long-term Bagot resident, one of the Communities managed by Yilli Housing. She lives in Bagot with her extended family. She is very glad that her house got renovated so she can accommodate her family members, especia...lly her grandchildren. The house renovation and infrastructure projects at Bagot is funded by the NT Government. -------- This video is produced and owned by the Town Camps Futures Unit under the Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development NT, Australia.
17.01.2022 ***Ehrlichiosis now also detected in the NT*** You might have seen our previous posts about Ehrlichiosis - a disease spread by Brown Dog Ticks - being found in ...the Kimberley region. Ehrlichiosis has now also been found in dogs from the NT, in a number of regions. The government is doing testing to work out how far this disease has spread, but it's possible that it's right across the Territory (and possibly the Top End of Australia). Ehrlichiosis can be a serious problem for dogs, and causes a variety of signs including making them off their food, sleepy, lose weight, have cloudy eyes and have bleeding from their nose. Vets can treat this disease, but only if it is found early! If your dog is showing any of these signs, call your vet, animal management worker, environmental health worker or AMRRIC (08 8948 1768). Infected dogs do NOT spread the disease to people, but if a person is bitten by a tick carrying the germ that causes Ehrlichiosis, it is possible, but very rare, that that person might get sick. If you are worried that you might be sick from a tick bite, you should talk to your doctor. This disease is spread by ticks so TICK PREVENTION is the key to keeping dogs and people safe from Ehrlichiosis. Watch the video and for more advice, check out AMRRIC's advice for preventing ticks here: https://bit.ly/30Vefxh You can find out more information about Ehrlichiosis here: https://bit.ly/2Bn1MYg Shout out to our video production partners Aboriginal TV Channel 4 and Northern Territory Government, as well as #Bagot community! #Ehrlichiosis #Tickbornedisease #Zoonosis #OneHealth #IndigenousHealth #Ehrlichiacanis #dog #dogs #tick #ticks #Notifiabledisease
