19.01.2022 17 years in the making! Language is an essential part of identity and culture. The Umpithamu Language Dictionary is a great achievement and a valuable resource for the Lamalama People. 13.01.2022 Good afternoon. YAC has extended the application period until 20th November 2020. Anyone still wishing to apply please contact the number on the flyer or email them directly. There is an application that needs to be filled out, which you can get from them. ... SIDE NOTE: There will be limited casual work in 2021, so any of the casuals currently employed are encouraged to apply for these positions. Key Message: These positions are INDIGENOUS IDENTIFIED positions, which means Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Good luck!

Lama Lama Land Trust and Yintjingga Aboriginal Corporation are holding their AGM's in December at the Bruce Rigsby Multi-Purpose Building Port Stewart.... LLLT AGM - Wednesday December 4th @ 9:00am. YAC AGM - Thursday December 5th @ 9:00am. *Director's of both the Land Trust and the Corporation must RSVP your attendance* Transport is available - Call Alison Liddy on 07 4060 1048 or 07 4060 3369. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. This is an election year for directors of both YAC and LLLT. Nominations are open, and must be received in writing or in person. 10.01.2022 Our TUMRA Coordinator Wilfred Peter and Operations Manager Gavin Bassani met with Brian Singleton from Great Barrier Reef Foundation earlier this year to discuss possible support for projects that Lama Lama are currently interested in. We look forward to future endeavors together.

09.01.2022 Public Announcement!!! UPDATE!!! The Cairns Region hasn't seen any new cases of COVID-19 for some time, but for everyone's safety Lama Lama Land Trust and Yintjingga Aboriginal Corporation are still adhering to the guidelines set out by the government.... These restrictions apply to the living areas and work areas of Silver Plains and Port Stewart, and extend to Lama Lama Country. * All Lama Lama Campgrounds are CLOSED until further notice. Please do not attempt to camp on Lama Lama Country, you will be asked to leave. The rangers are patrolling frequently on all of Lama Lama Country. This includes the Lama Lama National Park, Running Creek Nature Refuge, Lilyvale Nature Refuge, Marina Plains Nature Refuge and Lama Lama Boundaries within KULLA National Park. * ONLY people who live and work at Port Stewart and Silver Plains should be residing at our houses. We need to limit vistors at this, to avoid overcrowding. * If you are not a resident or ranger please DO NOT ENTER the living areas, Community Building and Ranger Bases. You can reach our team via telephone. * Family members in Coen are encouraged to stay in Coen and follow all government placed guidelines regarding good hygiene, social distancing and staying at home. Our work force is still operating and it is our utmost priority to keep everyone healthy and to continue looking after our land and sea country and each other. Our Cairns team are working remotely and the Cairns office is now closed. Our Coen team continue to work from our office, however the office is CLOSED to all visitors. We aren't stopping Residents in Coen from going fishing down at Port Stewart, keeping in mind the social distancing guidelines of 1.5m apart, but encourage you to return home once the day is over. Only acceptable reasons to stay overnight is fatigue management. *Travel restrictions are still in place for entering Cape York and permitted for essential services only. We will have more updates to come. We appreciate your understanding and co-operation.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to Lachlan Bassani on your permanent appointment as Ranger with Marine Parks. Looking forward to having you attend more Joint Management meetings with the Lama Lama Land Trust.

03.01.2022 With the wet season pretty much in full swing, we've had some of our rangers busy, participating in work experience/work exchange programs. Lee Liddy and Glenn Frank spent 2 weeks in Cairns working alongside marine parks rangers doing maintenance to Green and Fitzroy Islands' and also doing patrolling when necessary. Each year we send 2 x rangers to build capacity among our rangers and continue to build strong partnerships with Marine Parks.

02.01.2022 This week, rep's from the Lama Lama, Ewamian, Normanby and Bunya Rangers made the trek to Queensland Parliament to talk to pollies about growing Indigenous rang...er funding. Politicians from across the political spectrum voiced their recognition of the success of Indigenous rangers. Apart from a welcome policy announcement by the Queensland Greens, we have not yet heard specific commitments for the future of Indigenous ranger jobs from the major parties, and we're keenly watching the 2020 Budget to hear more. 02.01.2022 Lama Lama Land Trust and Yintjingga Aboriginal Corporations' board of directors had their first board meetings this year in Coen. We had a meeting with Moompa-Awu Aboriginal Corporation and discussed ways we could support and learn from each other from working on each others' country. A project we look forward to possibly starting this year.
