15.01.2022 The Middle Years and Years 5 and 6 have been taking part in some great ICT challenges this year starting with their work with Apple and IDX and learning skills associated with programs that can produce complex graphics and movie making. At the beginning of Term Four as a result of their progress they were invited to take part in a very special event, the NAIDOC WEEK Minecraft Challenge. Students learned about creating coded Minecraft worlds to act as environments for cultural... story telling and how to make characters using Augmented Reality in 3D to tell those stories. The competition had a few categories and the school entered all of them. It was in the AR character making that the school gained a place in the finals, with Wilirriya of Middle Years being nominated as the student who led the challenge. On Wednesday the winners were announced at the National Library of Canberra and Wilirriya was awarded second place in the AR category. We are so proud of all of our students who showed resilience and patience in learning new skills in this cutting edge technology that promises to be a game changer for the future of sharing Indigenous culture.
