25.01.2022 | PREGNANCY- Moxibustion for Breech Presentation | Moxibustion is a traditional Eastern medicine technique that can be used to turn a breech baby head first, usually around 34-36 weeks of pregnancy. It involves burning moxa- sticks of ground mugwort leaves- to heat specific acupuncture points or along meridians on the body. Once the heat is absorbed into the points and transferred via the meridians, this triggers hormone changes which relax muscles in the uterus, and increas...e the baby’s activity and encourage them to turn. Research has suggested that moxibustion is around 55-70% successful (Brici et al, 2019), which is better than external cephalic version (ECV) -a manual procedure to turn a breech baby, and around 50% successful (Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (2017). Please consult your practitioner/ doctor before starting, and ensure safety precautions are taken before it is done. 20.01.2022 | Food Allergies/ Intolerances | Are you someone, or do you know of someone, who has allergies or intolerances to certain food/ food substances such as gluten, lactose, dairy products or peanuts? In TCM, it is believed that food allergies/ intolerances are merely a state of digestive imbalance and weakened immune defense system, so people can gradually recover/ grow out of them, depending on whether their condition is complicated by other underlying/ pre-existing imbalances.... The goal of treatment is to restore normal digestive functions, and strengthen the immune defense system. TCM dietary/lifestyle advice to manage them: Avoid food that are triggering the allergies/ intolerances (e.g. seafood, dairy products Avoid oily, greasy spicy food Have warm, cooked, easily digestible food (e.g. rice, soups, steamed cooked vegetables, lean meat). Avoid cold food (e.g. cold salad, ice-cream, sashimi) Have regular balanced meals Sleep early Do regular exercise For more info, check out our latest blog post: https://www.yli-tcmclinic.com//what-causes-food-allergies- If you have food allergies/intolerances, what are they? 06.01.2022 Hey everyone! My name's Michelle and it's about time that I introduce myself here I'm an acupuncturist and herbal medicine practitioner here, and have been practising for nearly 2 years now. I have a special interest in women's health, gastrointestinal disorders, skin disorders and endocrine disorders. Growing up with Chinese Medicine, I have always been interested in its holistic, non-invasive approach to restoring balance in the body. I continue to be fascinated by the va...rious therapeutic effects that both Acupuncture and herbal medicine can bring about to the body, not only for illnesses, but also for health maintenance and disease prevention. As someone who is passionate about continuous learning, and having recently discovered that chiropractic care shares a similar holistic approach to health, I have decided to do more studies in it, and currently in my 2nd last year (not long to go!) In my free time, I like to spend as much time as possible to stay active, whether it be going on hikes, doing pilates or a simple jog around the block. (So if anyone knows any great spots for amazing hikes, please let me know ) Now that I'm having a mini end-of-semester break with my studies, I'm looking forward to becoming more active here, to share some interesting chinese medicine knowledge, and healthy lifestyle/ dietary habits that can help improve your life for the better, which I preach on as well so stay tuned!

02.01.2022 As we are finally closing in to the end of 2020, we can definitely say it has a been a year like no other! For many, this year might have felt stagnant and slow, with many cancelled events, restrictions and closures in place. I recently came across this quote, and I felt this is a great reminder of the importance of growth in all sorts of situations. Personally, I choose growth, because I know that everytime I take a risk in doing something that might feel uncomfortable, let... go of something that no longer serves me well, and even if it doesn't work out.. I grow a little, and it gives me the opportunity to learn from it. It allows me to continue to move forward and expand myself further in many other ways. So let's take the lessons we've learnt in 2020, and apply those in 2021 with a fresh new start! Thank you to everyone for all the support by connecting here. I'm grateful to have this platform to share all things TCM, and I'm excited to continue to share more content here. Have a lovely Happy New Year! #growth #gratitude #happynewyear2021
