19.01.2022 The theme of #NRW2020, #InThisTogether, reminds us that we all have a role to play in the reconciliation journey. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. At the Y, children from around Australia, have come #together to deliver an Acknowledgment of Country. Our children will also be doing a variety of activities throughout the week to learn more about Reconciliation Week and our ...First Nations Peoples histories and cultures. #NRW #InThisTogether2020

19.01.2022 We celebrated N.A.I.D.O.C week with Miss Leaanne Enoch, local MP of Algester and surrounding suburbs. We started off by paying our respect to the traditional owners by reciting our Acknowledgement of Country. Then Miss Kate read us the story "How the Birds got their colours" and the children went on to do various activities with elements from both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

14.01.2022 Place a poppy for Anzac Day. It was a YMCA volunteer who started the tradition of wearing a red poppy for remembrance, and this year we want to be able to continue this tradition. While we may not be able to attend a service or march, we can still show our gratitude and respect to Australians and New Zealanders who sacrificed so much for us. Follow the instructions in the link and display a poppy on your fence, window or mailbox on Saturday. https://bit.ly/2KACh77 #AnzacAtHome

08.01.2022 At a time when the whole world is facing a crisis, today we are pausing to remember all those who have served, and are currently serving, in our armed forces. The YMCA was proud to play a small but important role supporting our ANZAC men and women during WW1, providing our diggers recreation opportunities, postal services, and home comforts. Our social centres were initially setup in military camps in Australia, before being stationed at every camp in every country where our ...troops served. We were privileged to bring them arts and crafts, games, sports, film screenings, and everything in between. Serving those who serve is a great honour, and it is important we remember the great sacrifice they made. Please take a moment today to reflect and pay tribute to the extraordinary people who risked everything to give us everything. Lest we forget.

06.01.2022 Thank you so much for donating toys to our centre Alison P. we really appreciate your generosity.
