25.01.2022 At The Gap YMCA OSHC we have been celebrating Naidoc Week. We have been reading a Dreamtime story to our children in the mornings before they head off to school- The Rainbow Serpent. We have set up our Aboriginal and Torres strait Island indigenous learning space and used the wonderful resources we have to educate our children on what Naidoc Week is all about.

24.01.2022 The kids and staff at YMCA Rochedale South OSHC had an awesome time last week making and playing their very own Ukuleles, or as we now like to call them, our very own ‘ukes’!

22.01.2022 Woohoo! Last Day of Term!

20.01.2022 We had some amazing visitors at YMCA Helensvale OSHC during the holidays! It was a very informative and eye-opening discussion, the children asked relevant questions one by one and the wonderful community police officers answered them patiently. Our local police officers have shared their knowledge and every day experiences. Children were reminded of the do’s and don'ts at YMCA as well as in the community. Some children have taken an interest in joining the police force and received encouragement from our local police officers and useful tips on how to become one!

20.01.2022 If you need to reach out to someone if you feel unsafe, you can tell the Y by talking to a staff member you trust, or through the following platforms. 3253 1744 [email protected] PO BOX 669, Spring Hill, QLD, 4004

19.01.2022 I-SPY School aged children are at the age where they have the capacity to indulge in complex play. Generally this involves participation in role play or imaginative play. These opportunities foster skills of creativity, communication as well as improvisation. That's why this week we decided to get creative and make our own telescopes! Since we are all about "reduce, reuse and recycle" we used off-cuts of used paper for decoration. We even found some coloured cellophane which acted as a cool filter when looking through. The children used their telescopes to search the oval for interesting objects - I think we have some interested bird watchers (we even found a nest)!

19.01.2022 Check out our amazing team working hard to get everything ready for our big move at YMCA Bray Park OSHC! We can't wait to move into our new building

16.01.2022 Amazing experience for both Educators and children at YMCA Helensvale OSHC learning about Aboriginal dot painting and using symbols for story telling with the supervision of Billie Musk, our indigenous consultant. This PD session gave us knowledge of the land, events and beliefs that hold great cultural significance to the Aboriginal People.

16.01.2022 GO QUEENSLAND!! The Y Dakabin OSHC spent the morning playing touch football, making posters and clay creations for the Origin game decider. Our children showed their colours in support of QLD, with plenty of cheering amongst them and team spirit!!... Go the Maroons and what a fantastic result!

13.01.2022 Last week (6-12th September) was National Child Protection Week with the theme ‘Putting Children First,’ and at the Y, we know that for children and young people to be inspired they need to feel safe and be safe. To celebrate National Child Protection Week, we are happy to announce the launch of the innovative #StaySafeTellSomeone Program that empowers children, young people and adults to tell someone if they are worried or concerned about their safety. We believe in putting children and young people first at the Y!

08.01.2022 Punch your way to a prize! An exciting way to get prizes here at YMCA Helensvale OSHC! Children are enjoying getting rewards for their good deeds, which can be from sharing, being kind, using manners, passionate, caring, being safe, nice, happy, helping, inclusive, following instructions, helping and being a good friend. The Punch Board allows each child to punch through the tissue paper to find a prize!

07.01.2022 Queensland Child Protection Week is coming to an end, but every day the Y will continue to make the protection of children and young people a priority. Remember! Everyone at the Y and in the community has the right to feel safe and be safe. #NCPW #FeelSafeBeSafe #StaySafeTellSomeone

05.01.2022 Here at YMCA Dakabin OSHC we love watching our students be creative and collaborating with their peers. Last week these skills were embodied through the creation of our very own YMCA Dakabin café. Students created a menu, money and assigned real world café roles. This activity encouraged the continued development of problem solving, reasoning and fluency skills.

02.01.2022 Q. What do you do if you hear something, see something or feel something that makes you feel worried or unsafe? A. You can tell someone by writing it down, sending an email, calling or talking to any adult you trust at the Y. #NCPW #FeelSafeBeSafe #StaySafeTellSomeone

02.01.2022 Last week at Loganholme OSHC on 'R U OK Day' we invited children to explore what it means to be a good friend. The children were encouraged to give examples as to how they could show kindness to one another. Thanks for being such a good friend, Charlie!

02.01.2022 Everyone deserves to feel safe and be safe. Find out more at https://tinyurl.com/ymca-qcpw

02.01.2022 Here at YMCA Norris Road OSHC we love to get crafty. This is just one of the many fabulous creations that our children have made over the past couple of weeks. The children were excited to spend the afternoon designing their own ties using different colours, textures and collage. We love to see the creative sides of our children, as well as providing engaging opportunities to help them grow and develop
