20.01.2022 "Young people in Queensland are passionate, informed and invested in the future of our state. Far too often, however, our voices are neglected or seen only as commentary to a conversation. Young people are far more than commentators; it is our future that stands to be most shaped by the decisions of today, and we demand an active role in shaping the conversation." A word from the Youth Governor of Queensland, Jack Hill, on the experiences and insights shared during this year’...s YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//queensland-s-young-deman #ymcaqyp #yourvoiceheard #qldpol

19.01.2022 This is Jodie Down, Youth Member for Warrego - coming in with a late community engagement post. Recently, she had the opportunity to meet with and interview Mayor Tom Tate, the Mayor of the Gold Coast. She also met with Stuart Robert MP, MP for Fadden, earlier this year. This is in addition to all the great work she is doing for her school - including starting a student newspaper! Excellent stuff Jodie! #ymcaqyp #qyp #community #local #warrego #goldcoast #fadden

18.01.2022 Residential Sitting Week may be over - but our Youth Members still have plenty to share. This is Yentl Palm - Youth Member for Chatsworth. With the opening of two new buildings at Mansfield State High School last month, Yentl got to meet Corrine McMillan MP - State Member for Mansfield and Grace Grace MP. What an honour! #ymcaqyp #qyp #youth #community #local #mansfield #chatsworth #qldpol

17.01.2022 Ahsin Waris, this year's Youth Member for Logan, met quite a lot of people. Today, we are focusing on just two members of the community. The first: Miss Kathy Faldt - environmental activist and member of several environmental groups and initiatives in Logan. The second: Cr Jacob Heremaia - one of Australia's youngest Councillors at just 20 years old! Great networking Ahsin! Keep up the good work. #ymcaqyp #qyp #youth #community #logan #councillor #jacobheremaia #environment Logan City Council

05.01.2022 That’s a wrap! 2020 Residential Sitting Week was a brilliant three days of Hear, Hear!, passionate Private Members Statements and engagement with MPs. Thank you to everyone who made it happen - the MPs and community engagement panelists who zoomed in, the Executive, and finally, the incredibly talented Youth Members! Until next year, parliamentarians!

03.01.2022 ...And the last Youth Bill of the year was the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee’s. They want to future-proof Queensland’s agricultural industry, and ensure farmers are prepared for future challenges. We interviewed the committee chairs, Jazmine Kendall and Tighe Flannery, on their thoughts and their progress throughout the year. Visit our live-blog at bit.ly/qypresweekd3 to see what Youth Members did today!
