YMCA Victoria Youth Parliament can offer you an opportunity to get involved in the parliamentary process by debating issues that are important to you. 20.01.2022 There are a combination of reasons as to why people experience more aches and pain during the colder winter months especially when the temperature drops down here in Melbourne. The cooler temperature can increase the experience of pain for many conditions, and particularly for arthritic conditions. Research hints at several possible explanations for an increase in aches related to arthritic knees, as well as feet, hands and necks all feeling more stiff and sore during ...the winter months. You can find out all about it in this seasons Healthy Living Magazine. Head to the Link below to brush up on the most recent facts
18.01.2022 The recent storms affected many of our communities in Eastern Victoria. Many homes and business were damaged and people are still currently without power. At the Y, we support our communities. That’s why we’re pleased to be offering free hot showers for those who need them at our centres. Please check the Facebook pages of Warragul Leisure Centre, YMCA South Gippsland SPLASH, YMCA Wonthaggi, YMCA Phillip Island and Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre for more information on ho...w to access a shower. All facilities will be following COVID-safe measures to keep us all safe. Our thoughts are with the communities who have been affected. We hope you recover from this soon and can get back to being the thriving communities that you are. Stay strong Victoria!

15.01.2022 To combat the number of men experiencing low physical health, poor mental health and social isolation, Active Moreland launched Men of Moreland. The most profound change for me from Men of Moreland is how I would define masculinity... I now define masculinity as something that comes from within. For me, it’s finding the confidence to be the man that I am, to love him and be the best version of that man. I owe it to Men of Moreland for helping me find him. Read more about M...en of Moreland in our Annual Report 2019-20. https://bit.ly/2UIoFfd
14.01.2022 The Teenage Girls Retreat is a five-day program run by YMCA Peninsula Youth Services that offers a range of workshops and activities to help participants build confidence, increase self-esteem and develop strategies to navigate the challenges of their teenage years. The retreat taught me so many different ways to look after myself. I began to see that people supported me and wanted me to do well, which made me want to become the best version of myself. Over the past year, I... have actually been doing the things I learnt and now I feel like a completely different person. Read more about the Teenage Girls Retreat, as well as how YMCA Peninsula Youth Services is supporting their community in our Annual Report 2019-20. https://bit.ly/3nCnWJ5
14.01.2022 The end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 in Australia was not a time for celebrating the New Year as we normally would. The country was being torn apart by the bushfires sweeping the nation. The loss of life, wildlife, property and nature is still difficult to comprehend. Read about how the Y provided support during the black summer in our Annual Report 2019-20. https://bit.ly/3nF8r2X

This year’s report reflects on one of the most challenging years in YMCA Victoria’s 176-year history, but it also highlights some of our incredible achievements. Whether it’s providing support during the bushfires, helping young ex-offenders turn their life around or supporting the health and wellbeing of young Victorians during COVID, we couldn’t have done it without the hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers.
