11.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS TO ANN LOVISON AND THE OLD BROWN COAL MINE MUSEUM Anne is a former active YNAG member and newsletter editor so, recently, there was extra delight in honouring the Old Brown Coal Museum with a YN Garden Competition Special Mention because Anne is the leader of its gardening team. YNAG says thankyou to the museum and especially to Anne for such a beautiful all-season visual contribution to the town. Yallourn North Historical Society recognizes their first life M...ember At the Historical Society Annual General Meeting held last month, society member Ann Lovison was presented with a Life Membership certificate by Secretary Lyn Cook, and a bouquet of flowers from Vice President Robyn Rosenboom. A plaque was also presented to Ann by President David Roberts, and will be placed in the Museum garden that is a testament to her gardening skills. Ann has been a hardworking member of the society since its inception in 1996 and without her vision and enthusiasm the Old Brown Coal Mine Museum would not have eventuated and become what it is today. 09.01.2022 Have you seen two stray cows? YNAG received this message from a new Yallourn North resident, Keira. If you can help please message us here? Hello! I'm Keira!... My partner and I just moved to YN two months ago. We have a dog and love living out on our 4 acres. We just had two cows delivered today and about 15 minutes later they ran through our fences and took off. They are two Belted Galloways with yellow tags in their ears. One says R2 and the other is Q5 (we think). If anyone sees them or hears of anyone who sees them, please let us know! 0438 331 482 Thank you! This is them!

08.01.2022 YALLOURN NORTH GARDEN COMPETITION 2020 It was the late Linda Xerri who originally suggested that Yallourn North Action Group hold an annual garden competition, offering prizes to those whose front gardens, as seen from the street, added to the visual presentation of the town. It was seen as a way of encouraging people to create something special for themselves that brought pleasure to others. This year the judges came up with a very lengthy short list from which it was very ...difficult to choose winners. During the last week of October and the first week of November the gardens were viewed more than once and, finally , the difficult decisions were made. These were based on how the gardens looked during that period and an assessment of how they might look at all other times during the year. 2020 has been an exceptional year in that we have had timely rain and lots of afternoon sunshine a recipe for wonderful growth and beautiful blooms. Additionally, covid restrictions have kept many people at home more than usual. What better combination could there be for increased garden action and fabulous gardens? Congratulations and thanks to the winners and to all residents who have gardens that enhance our town.

07.01.2022 Happy 65th birthday Yallourn North Fire Brigade.
