25.01.2022 An attempt at a still photo to capture the number of bees on the flowers. Still had problems with wind moving the flowers. A change in the weather and a change in what the bees are foraging on.

14.01.2022 Today I helped another native bee enthusiast with a fascinating rescue of a hive located underground in what appeared to be an old tree root. The old tree root was 1.5 - 1.8 m long about 120mm wide by 50mm thick about 500mm below the ground. The entrance was a small hole unprotected in the middle of the yard. I have never seen anything like it in my 30 years, working with native bees. The hive had a large number of worker's. By the amount of storge and the colour of the propo...lis my guess is the hive has been there many years unnoticed. The photo 1 shows the entrance. Photos 2 and 3 excavation thanks to Anthony. Photo 4 some of the honey storage. Photo 5 setting up the box. Box supplied by owner. You make recognise the box. Photo 6 the brood and more honey stores. Photo 7 more excavation. Photo 8 setting up the box. I recovered about 1 litre of honey. Another thing that interested me was the very end section of the honey storage was water, never seen that before either. The site will be a construction site come Monday. See more
13.01.2022 First I must apologise for the quality of the vision. It's age related steadiness of hand and sight. It's my bee watering dish. I placed charcoal on top of the stones. The water wicks into the charcoal and the bees draw the water from the charcoal without going near the water. Just a tip it works real well no drowning. The native bees prefer the charcoal. I reckon it would work for feeding the bees as well.
11.01.2022 My native bees having an early morning feed on the diakon radish flowers.
10.01.2022 Resin bees having a feed of some left overs before I dispose of it. Great to see good numbers of these little fellows around. Yes one syrphid fly came calling as well.
10.01.2022 Another attempt to capture the native bees watering.
08.01.2022 Photos and video of the new induction. Didn't see the queen moving around.
06.01.2022 Shallot flowers on the menu.
03.01.2022 Saw someone recently on a page feeding their native bees some wattle flowers. I thought I'd give it a go. Have had them out for three days haven't seen one bee on them. Must be too much food around. Atleast I tried.
03.01.2022 Native bee on another cat mint flower.
