23.01.2022 Stiff upper back? Spending all day sitting at a computer or looking down at smart devices can lead to upper back pain, neck pain and stiffness. The thoracic spine thrives on movement in all directions; flexion, extension, lateral flexion and rotation. This little 5 minute routine will get your upper back moving! 1 Cat Cow pose. Aim to push the area between your shoulder blades up towards the ceiling. Repeat 5 times. 2 Thread the Needle. Keeping your hips square, rotate ...and take one arm up to the ceiling and then thread your arm through underneath you. Repeat 3 times on each side 3 Childs Pose. With your heels together and knees apart, push back towards your heels with your arms extended. Take your arms as wide as you need to feel comfortable. Start in the centre, hold for 5 deep breaths and then do the same with your arms slightly to the left, and then to the right, stretching your sides 4 Seated Twist. Lift tall through your spine as you rotate to one side. If you cant sit up tall, sit on a block. You can hug your bent leg as you turn or use your elbow to rotate more. Repeat 3 times left and right sides. Remember to always activate your core, breathe slowly and only go to the point of stretch and never into pain. Enjoy!
