19.01.2022 This terrific article relates to Veterans but PTSD is a problem for many people. The suggestions in this article are appropriate for anyone struggling with mental illness. We often don't know the details of the people who come to our classes or if they come for yoga therapy, the specifics of why they have come may be revealed only over time. Whilst this article illustrates quite specific conditions and situations, much of what is discussed here can be applied to general yoga classes, therapeutic classes and to private tuition, whether yoga therapy or not.

07.01.2022 I just had a meeting with a prospective student in our Yoga Therapy for Mental Health Program. She asked questions about using Yoga Therapy for mental health. ... First, I told her that Yoga Therapy is COMPLEMENTARY. The person stays completely under the care of his or her doctor and therapist. They stay on their medication. Yoga Therapy is not a replacement for docs and meds. Second, Yoga Therapy for mental health is to help become more self-aware of the highs and lows each day, to help find new meaning and perspective in life and to improve quality of life and relationships. So we are not "treating bi-polar", but we offer a really important service that is not offered by other healthcare providers. Basically, Yoga Therapy is self-empowerment and it is an inside job for the client to learn about himself or herself (via postures, breathing, meditation, chanting, self-reflection, etc). If you are interested in Yoga Therapy for Mental Health, please go to www.amywheeler.com. We offer a full 865-hour Yoga Therapy Program, but also a special program for C-IAYT's that want to specialize in mental health. 14 Things You Can Do Every Day To Protect You Mental Health As You Age: https://www.huffingtonpost.com//mental-health-as-you-age_u

05.01.2022 Today is the day on which we honour our teachers. The Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram was established in 1975 by TKV Desikachar in honour of his father T. Krishnamacharya. Desikachar studied with his father all his life and intensively for over 30 years. It is through his work as a teacher, writer, lecturer that many teachers around the world continue to transmit the fullness of Krishnamacharya's teachings.
