24.01.2022 Yoga in the park "I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued" - Brene Brown -... This year, despite the COVID and the effects from COVID, we stay connected as a yoga community and overcame the unprecedented difficulties... kept practicing yoga and kept our immune system high with all our efforts to keep ourselves safe and healthy! A huge thank you to everyone who joined me at the Concord Senior Citizens Club classes at the beginning of the year, who joined me on zoom classes during the lockdown, who returned to our yoga classes after reopening, and who newly became part of our senior yoga community at Concord! I thank you from bottom of my heart . For my gratitude to your support, I am going to run a one hour free yoga session at Cabarita Park, followed by a picnic in the park. Please bring your mat and blocks if you have. For picnic, if you be able to bring a plate to share, (I’ll bring a fruit plate) otherwise just bring yourself. Date: Thursday 17th December 2020 Time: 10 am for yoga class and 11am for picnic. Location: the rotunda at Cabarita Park.

23.01.2022 To ensure our senior yoga classes will be a safe place to restart, I completed the ‘Infection Control Training-COVID 19’. I am so looking forward to restart the yoga classes face to face soon.

22.01.2022 Dear Yogis, Due to COVID-19, our yoga classes at Concord Senior Citizen's Club are closed until further notice. Meanwhile, stay at home, drink lots of water, keep your immune system up and keep practicing yoga and meditation at home.... May you be free from pain and suffering. May you be safe and protect yourself. May you adopt change with open mind. May you be healthy and strong through this pandemic, with peace and ease. With Love Katherine

17.01.2022 Thank you, thank you and thank you to each and everyone of you who joined me at today’s yoga session. It was nice to see some new faces who turned up to support our practice, ‘Yoga for firefighters families’. I felt overwhelmed by your compassion and support! Together we raised $270 In 90 minutes!!! Special thanks goes to those of you who donated extra!... Also big thanks goes to Concord Senior Citizen’s club for giving permission to use the hall without any charge. 100% of proceeds from today’s yoga session has been donated to NSW RFS firefighters families. I am very grateful to be surrounded by a generous, caring and compassionate community who proudly supports each other and those in need. I am looking forward to seeing you all again on the mat from the 3rd of February. Katherine

17.01.2022 Taking a moment to pause, in gratitude and love for all my friends, yogis, teachers and students on the first day of 2020. THANK YOU for letting me into your world, for sharing your space, your stories, pain, joy and wisdom with me, for inspiring me to be a better version of myself as a yoga teacher, a yoga practitioner and as a person. Happy New Year to you all! Let 2020 brings us good health, love and joy!!!

10.01.2022 I am sharing the happiness poem from Milli O’Brien site. When asked How would you have lived your life differently if you had a chance? Nadine Stair, an 85-year-old woman, from Louisville, Kentucky, provided these poetic words as her response If I had my life to live over again,... I’d dare to make more mistakes next time. I’d relax. I’d limber up. I’d be sillier than I’ve been this trip. I would take fewer things seriously. I would take more chances, I would eat more ice cream and less beans. I would, perhaps, have more actual troubles but fewer imaginary ones. you see, I’m one of those people who was sensible and sane, hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I’ve had my moments. If I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them. In fact, I’d try to have nothing else- just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day. I’ve been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot-water bottle, a raincoat, and a parachute. If I could do it again, I would travel lighter than I have. If I had to live my life over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would go to more dances, I would ride more merry-go-rounds, I would pick more daisies. Nadine Stair

07.01.2022 Merry Christmas 2020 has been an extraordinary year! Also a year to feel grateful that what we DO have! I am grateful to each of you joined our yoga practice at beginning of year, on my Zoom classes during the lockdown, and rejoined the classes after we reopened in July. . Your energy, persistence, curiosity and appreciation nurtured our senior yoga community! ... Once again, with good luck with the weather, we had a fun time yoga in the park with picnic . Thank you everyone joined us and it was lovely to have Lilia Matani as a visitor Marry Christmas to you all and stay safe! See you all in 2021

07.01.2022 BARELY HOLDING IT TOGETHER It’s not uncommon after a yoga class for a student to approach me. They will be holding back the tears and will confide in me... that they’re on the verge of a breakdown. We sit down and talk about what’s going on in their lives and often, I’m the first person they’ve told that they’re not coping with life. These students put on a brave face for their family, friends and workplace but deep down they’re struggling. It’s far more common that we think because most of us are wearing a mask to signal to the world that we’re doing fine. But often times, we’re anything but fine. There is so much suffering in the world right now. And even if you’re not personally suffering, our planet is suffering and many sensitives feel this collective pain. I see you with your brave face. I feel the weight of your mask. You are welcome to take your mask off in our space. Drop an emoji if this resonates. Monica xx Art by @doodlebotillustration
