02.01.2022 MEDITATION My heart feels full of gratitude after teaching a 45 minute deep guided meditation this morning for a corporate business for their R U OK day at Pinnacle wellness Scoresby When I first start mediation I assumed that whilst in the practice I wasn’t meant to have any thoughts, to have a clear mind. How very, very wrong I was! ... Through completing the 50 hour Yin and Meditation training with the very humble and knowledgeable Mr Hugh Lee, he taught me that meditation is about bringing conscious awareness to your thoughts and being the observer of the thoughts. Like a third eye watching the thoughts without involvement By observing our habitual thought patterns without judgement we can gain a clear indication of thoughts that may be causing us mental pain and suffering. Mediation has so many benefits, including: stress reduction- by lowering cortisol levels decreased anxiety- activates the parasympathetic nervous system which helps lower blood pressure and heart rate increased self- awareness- taking time to recognise how you feel in the present moment increased productivity and attention span- research has shown increase in cortical thickness in the hippocampus which supports learning and memory. I love using meditation as a helpful tool whenever I’m feeling a bit tired or anxious. After just 15 minutes I feel energised, calm and clear Even if you just start practicing meditation for 5 minutes daily and slowly build up, I assure you will gain positive benefits Some great apps to get started include Smiling Mind and Head Space
