25.01.2022 For expectant Mums and partners! Don't miss this prenatal yoga workshop with Alana covering birth prep, pelvic floor, partner work and pregnancy and labour positions (OMP). If you've never heard of OMP it refers to "Optimal Maternal Positioning" and it includes the techniques you can learn during pregnancy to help your baby move into an optimal birth position. A baby needs to perform key cardinal movements for it to be born. This becomes difficult if there is no room for ...your baby to move and imbalances are present in the Mum's body. In this workshop Alana will show you techniques to help restore balance and help guide your baby into a more optimal position. 20.01.2022 This week happens to be the birthday of YOGA BURRA and also a certain Yoga Bunny. The Zen stones are a birthday gift. Each stone is in fact a wooden carving, stacked upon the other. Zen stones AKA rock stacks or rock cairns are often used to mark the right path on not-so-well-defined trails. YOGA BURRA is blazing a new trail with the introduction of a new virtual studio. It opens this week to existing YOGA BURRA clients, and will be open to the broader public SOON! If you are an existing YOGA BURRA client and would like more information about virtual yoga classes, send a PM to YOGA BURRA. I look forward to our reunion on the shared path of Yoga!

10.01.2022 Yoga Bunnies! Although some COVID-19 restrictions are easing in Queensland and some inter-state travel is permitted, it's all the more important to maintain good respiratory & hand hygiene and abide by the 1.5m social distancing rule. In yoga studios this means mats must be 1.5m apart (in all directions). At YOGA BURRA guests must bring their own equipment to class otherwise any studio equipment used must be disinfected after use. Naturally, if you are feeling unwell, please do not attend the studio - contact your GP for COVID-19 testing and self-isolate until test results are clear. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in keeping YOGA BURRA a COVID-safe space in which to enjoy yoga. xx

07.01.2022 **** CLASSES SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE **** Due to COVID-19, Yoga Australia (the peak representative body for Registered Yoga Teachers in Australia) recommends the suspension of all face-to-face yoga classes until further notice. This recommendation is effective immediately @ YOGA BURRA. All classes are suspended until further notice. YOGA BURRA clients will be given a refund on the unused portion of their class passes. You will be contacted by YOGA BURRA directly. Please wait patiently for contact to occur. In the meantime, you are encouraged to not take any risks with your health. Take all necessary precautions as advised by Queensland Health. And stay safe. Now is the perfect time to develop your home practice as you spend time safely hibernating/isolating. 06.01.2022 This long weekend offers a change of scenery (the farm @ Middlebrook), some brush-cutting, and time to contemplate whilst off the yoga mat. People often think yoga is all about the postures or poses (known as Asanas) but the essence of yoga has never been about the outward appearance of the pose, but rather, the state of mind with which we practice. Everything we do on the yoga mat is ultimately designed to move the mind towards a place of steadiness and ease, infusin...g our practice with a meditative quality called Dhyana, which can be used as an instrument of transformation and liberation from conditioning and habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Our time on the yoga mat can facilitate changes off the mat that improve the quality of our lives. Mindfulness meditation, and living mindfully with awareness, is also a gateway to living a more contented, fulfilling life. 03.01.2022 This is a lovely Yogini called Sofia and her partner Edoardo. They have been in Australia since November last year and in north Queensland since May. Sofia and Edoardo are based in Yungaburra and come to classes at YOGA BURRA. Sofia and Edoardo would love to find more work on the Tablelands e.g. waitressing, cleaning, cooking, gardening, baby-sitting, handyman work - painting, carpentry, etc. They are very versatile, fit and strong and happy to do other forms of work too. 02.01.2022 Yoga Bunnies it’s always a good idea to support the health of your immune system, and especially at times like these! It’s valuable to know that stress can compromise the immune system, so taking time-out for yourself (on or off the yoga mat) to de-stress, relax, unwind and restore balance to your nervous system, is important. Also, 70 80% of your immune system is located in your gut, so looking after your gut health is vital to your immune system function! Minimise pro...cessed foods, especially sugar, which is known to suppress the immune system, and instead support your immune system with fresh, healthy nutrient-dense foods, preferably organic, which you can source from organic produce stall-holders at the weekend markets and the Atherton Organic Farmer's Co-op. Whether you choose a plant-based diet, with or without dairy, eggs or meat, organic produce is the best option, to minimise the (artificial) chemical load on your internal (and external) environment. And of course, consult a professional if you have certain dietary needs and/or are looking for specific dietary guidance!
