23.01.2022 Classes begin again next Monday 19th April. Don't forget to book in for more work with the chakras, starting this term at the heart with Anahata

22.01.2022 I had so much fun weaving the story of the Selkie into my Autumn ‘Art of letting go’ yoga workshop yesterday. We explored what we could let go of to return to our wild instinctual self, our inner home. Our inner home is a place somewhere in time rather than space, where we feel whole. A place where the stream of consciousness is uninterrupted, where we can access wonder, vision, peace, freedom from worry, freedom from demands. May you all return home often

22.01.2022 Time and place for everything, for sure. If you’re always judging your breath as ‘wrong’ or incorrect or needing to be fixed every time you notice it, this is t...he message your brain sends to your body every time you relate to your breath this way. Poor body! It breathes about 20000 breaths per day without you telling it to. It sure is doing something right, isn’t it? If we habitually try to fix our breath, we might lose access to what it’s telling us about our nervous system state and what resources need to come in to support the whole body. We open to listening instead of fixing and learn that our breath reflects what’s going on in our psyche and how it’s presenting can lead us to more fundamental, loving lasting ways to deal with chronic or traumatic stress. More on this and much much more with Breathe Better - Jennifer Snowdon and my webinar starting in January TRAUMATIC STRESS AND THE BREATH. I so appreciate how Jennifer brings a trauma informed lens to Buteyko Breathing! https://www.janeclapp.com//traumaticstressandthebreathjan2 See more

22.01.2022 Just a reminder that yoga classes begin again this Tuesday 21st April. To book for the term please message Renee Santosha Janssen-Gibson or email [email protected]

21.01.2022 Dear Ones: I want to share something beautiful with you today. This is a map of the Mississippi River, created in 1944 by a cartographer named Harold Fisk. It’...s called a meander map. It demonstrates all the various paths that the Mississippi has taken over the millennia. The different colors represent moments in history when the river jumped her banks and changed her course dramatically. Native Americans used to move their settlements along with the river’s constant shifts and changes, but Americans saw things differently. In the 1940s, the Army Corps of Engineers decided to lock down the Mississippi River into a certain course. They built walls and levees and declared: These are now the official boundaries of the Mississippi. She doesn’t move an inch from HERE. Nature, of course, has had different plans. I’m bringing this up today, because I’ve been thinking lately about the ways that I keep trying to control my own nature. I see the rules and boundaries that I have set for myself over the years, and how often they have failed. I think about the vows I’ve made to myself and others about where I’m going to be next year, or who I am going to be next year. Endless, expensive, stress-inducing efforts to civilize the river of my being. But if you were to look at the history of my life, it looks a lot like this map right here. This map could be a portrait of my heart’s own journey. Maybe yours, too. I often say that, after a certain age, every woman in the world could write a memoir called: NOT WHAT I PLANNED. We change. Life changes. We often feel shame, confusion and anger about about those shifts and pivots. But what if we just trusted the river? She seems to know where she wants to go. Onward. LG

21.01.2022 Sunday I will be teaching my annual end of year outdoor yoga class as a gift to all students from 2019. It will be held at 5:30-6:30pm in Nara Park. I hope you can make it

20.01.2022 A friend and colleague is leading another Relax Rejuvenate and Rejoice in Bali retreat in April. She is offering $300 off and a 2.5hr spa treatment if you enter the code YE$300.

20.01.2022 I feel blessed to do what I love and to be fully myself amongst like minded friends. One of my favourite things is running workshops where we get to connect and explore practices more deeply, share some delicious treats and create together

20.01.2022 It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest ...me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive. It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain. I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human. It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy. I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence. I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, 'Yes.' It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children. It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back. It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments. Oriah Mountain Dreamer Art: Kay Sage

20.01.2022 "My friends, do not lose heart. We were made for these times. Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the par...t of the world that is within our reach. Any small, calm thing that one soul can do to help another soul, to assist some portion of this poor suffering world will help immensely. It is not given to us to know which acts or by whom, will cause the critical mass to tip toward an enduring good. One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul." - By Clarissa Pinkola Estes Thank you to a friend who shared this today. This is the time to be beacons.

20.01.2022 The I Ching councils that the psyche is like a cauldron in which we place our offerings to the holy helpers, and it’s also where we receive their guidance. And... if our cauldron is cluttered or inhospitable, we can’t receive from a true place, and the quality of our offering is compromised. But the psyche is not only the mind, as Western Psychology tends to suggest, but actually our whole body. Psyche is in the flesh, blood, and bones of us. And those bones are made of same stuff as the earth that gave us life. So many spiritualities and religions teach transcendence from the body, proselytizing that the body’s desires are sinful or lowly. So it’s no wonder that so many of us have learned to disconnect from our bodies needs. How often do you not eat when you’re hungry, not sleep when you’re tired, not move when you’re restless? And how does that disconnection then play into the anxiety that you feel about not being where or with whom you are longing? What if inhabiting our body’s pleasure and wellbeing is the very thing that will lead us to the thing we need. Or at least to ask the question that calls it closer towards us. by Toko-pa Turner (toko-pa.com) | Artwork by Eduardo Mata Icaza

17.01.2022 FOR LONGING Blessed be the longing that brought you here And quickens your soul with wonder. May you have the courage to listen to the voice of desire... That disturbs you when you have settled for something safe. May you have the wisdom to enter generously into your own unease To discover the new direction your longing wants you to take. May the forms of your belonging -- in love, creativity and friendship -- Be equal to the grandeur and the call of your soul. JOHN O'DONOHUE

15.01.2022 I have found Yoga to be a great help in supporting my own health and ability to cope with anxiety and uncertainty. There are many useful practices that teach me how to be in the world. Part of this is the importance of uniting or holding the opposites in life. At present we are seeing and possibly feeing great anxiety, stress, uncertainty and economic challenge. We may also be slowing down, taking some time out, seeing connections opening up in new ways, noticing the beauty o...f the human spirit. My own philosophy is to not rush to the simplicity found at either end of the pendulum. I try to hold the experience of opposites in both hands - the fear, connection, unsettledness, insight, uncertainty, loss, pain, love and humanness. This is the soup of life with all of its varied ingredients which is part of being alive. That said, I do practices to support my ability to eat the soup of life! For now all classes are on this week. I hope to see you there

15.01.2022 Saturday’s workshop was a long awaited opportunity for connection and a deeply moving group celebration of the contemplative power of Winter . It was especially beautiful to hear others chant Om after months of only hearing myself on Zoom! Thank you to all who attended

12.01.2022 Yoga workshop - Sat 27th June 9:30am - 11:30am - https://mailchi.mp/d0edca960bab/thb4fwcipk-4734834

11.01.2022 A small intervention is to notice (or witness) our thoughts and feelings, and then to continue do what is important to us

11.01.2022 Cure yourself, with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon. With the sound of the river and the waterfall. With the swaying of the sea and the fluttering of birds. Heal yourself, with mint, neem and eucalyptus. Sweeten yourself with lavender, rosemary, and chamomile.... Hug yourself, with the cocoa bean and a touch of cinnamon. Put love in tea instead of sugar and take it looking at the stars. Heal yourself, with the kisses that the wind gives you and the hugs of the rain. Get strong with bare feet on the ground and with everything that is born from it. Get smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with the eye of your forehead. Jump, dance, sing, so that you live happier. Heal yourself, with beautiful love, and always remember ... You are the medicine." - María Sabina, poet and curandera (medicine woman), from Mexico. (Thank Lesley Goldacre for sharing)

11.01.2022 Sunflowers turn according to the position of the sun. In other words, they chase the light. You might already know this, but there is another fact that you ...probably do not know! Have you ever wondered what happens on cloudy and rainy days when the sun is completely covered by clouds? ... This is an interesting question. Isn’t it? Perhaps you think the sunflower withers or turns its head towards the ground. Is this what crossed your mind? Well, that’s incorrect! This is what happens! They turn towards each other to share their energy. Nature’s perfection is amazing. Now let’s apply this reflection to our lives. Many people may become low-spirited, and the most vulnerable ones, sometimes, become depressed. How about following the example of the beautiful sunflowers i.e."Supporting and empowering each other". Nature has so much to teach us. Daffodils behave in a similar way. Wishing everyone a "Sun flower" trait of turning towards each other on their cloudy and gloomy days. Spread goodness...it will come back to you...

11.01.2022 This gives a lovely explanation of why we focus on long slow exhalations, as in class using humming bee breath

11.01.2022 The Winter workshop is now full

10.01.2022 I highly recommend Morgan's services!

10.01.2022 COURAGE is a word that tempts us to think outwardly, to run bravely against opposing fire, to do something under besieging circumstance, and perhaps, above all,... to be seen to do it in public, to show courage; to be celebrated in story, rewarded with medals, given the accolade, but a look at its linguistic origins leads us in a more interior direction and toward its original template, the old Norman French, Coeur, or heart. Courage is the measure of our heartfelt participation with life, with another, with a community, a work, a future. To be courageous, is not necessarily to go anywhere or do anything except to make conscious those things we already feel deeply and then to live through the unending vulnerabilities of those consequences. To be courageous is to seat our feelings deeply in the body and in the world: to live up to and into the necessities of relationships that often already exist, with things we find we already care deeply about: with a person, a future, a possibility in society, or with an unknown that begs us on and always has begged us on. Whether we stay or whether we go - to be courageous is to stay close to the way we are made. ... 09.01.2022 On International Yoga Day I taught a yoga class at the Florey Hindu temple. There were quite a number of enthusiastic students and three different teachers. The first teacher taught a very thorough asana class, so I changed my original plans and taught breath focused asana with mantra followed by yoga Nidra. It was a very friendly community and I hope to visit again

08.01.2022 "At some point on the journey, you may reach a point where you want to ease the throttle of transformation. Not where you stop growing, but where you stop utili...zing your will to affect personal change. You’re still growthful, but it’s different. It’s gentler, and it’s more about accepting what is, than changing it. You reach a place where you are more embracing of who you are, and of how far you have come, and you feel ready to work with what you’ve got. It’s important to notice this moment, if it arrives. Because there is a real peace in that tender self-acceptance. And, ironically, it may ignite the most profound change of all." ~ Jeff Brown Art by Flora Aube

06.01.2022 What we search for is already inside of us. It is as close as the breath. Our place of true joy, our sanctuary, responds to continued self-acceptance. This place within is a place of receiving, a place of quiet truth, a joy immune to the changing tides of circumstance - Bhagavad Gita

02.01.2022 The drift Sometime last week, after the revelry of the new year had passed, that bright resolve to steer the ship of my life in a freshly purposeful direction was dismantled by sudden doubt, like a flash frost blinding the windshield. I wandered the morning half-awake, wasting good daylight on a section... of a tricky crossword, mindless with my meals, stingy with love. I could feel it, momentum draining out of me, trouble troubling the water, and all my proclamations about change and opportunity fell silent as old rocks. The day tumbled on, without visible meaning, until bed, when a sliver of moon rose behind the house. It wasn’t an answer, exactly, but I understood this: A journey calls for sea, not shore. ~ Maya Stein See more

02.01.2022 Saturday’s juicy yoga class was dedicated to living life with truth, trust, strength and wisdom with the help of Durga. It was a nourishing and uplifting morning of yoga and mantra including a delicious morning tea. I am very thankful for my yoga community and for the help of my dedicated assistant Aida. Do not try to serve the whole world or do anything grandiose.... Instead, create a clearing In the dense forest of your life and wait there patiently, until the song that is yours alone to sing falls into your open cupped hands and you recognize and greet it. Only then will you know how to give yourself to the world so worthy of rescue. ~ Martha Postlethwaite See more

01.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing my students at Yoga Nidra online on Sunday at 7:30pm xx
