25.01.2022 The 5 Kleshas - Human Afflictions : The roots of all human suffering We thought about these in relation to social media and decided we’re taking a break from socials In yoga, we practice what we call Sadhana. For 40 days we take up a new way of practicing in an effort to create a more positive and useful neural pathway in association with our habitual tendencies... So, see you in 40 days. Adios Also, you’re welcome to join us IRL. You know where we are x

24.01.2022 The vast ocean of modern Vinyasa and Power Yoga is evidence of an unstable and unbalanced yoga culture. The absence of meditation beyond a token gesture in daily drop-in classes only further highlights this point. The upside of our current condition, however, is that we have energy and therefore are at least up for doing the work. The will is there, just not the knowledge. Nor are the teachers that are willing to stand up and give the students what they need, not what they wa...nt. Being a yoga teacher is a big commitment. It is not about making friends or being popular. It’s about service, it’s about serving the core of the people, not the condition. The journey, by necessity must be a slow-paced and steady one. When we humbly yet tenaciously address the chaotic state of our practices and minds and choose freedom over flexibility, stability over style, actual work over just working-out, then we will arrive back to our Self, a Self that is primed for love because it is love. Love is our nature yet to touch it we need to do less, not more. Don’t take my word for it though, that’s not how this works. Put down your phone, let go of what you think you know about Yoga based on what Instagram tells you, get up earlier than you have been and steady yourself before the sun rises and then sit still and remember yourself, your real Self. The invitation has been there all along : slow down, stabilise, steady the mind that phases and fluxes so that the bright light of your own soul can finally shine through into your life. ~ Octavio, The Practice, Bali

23.01.2022 So why is our studio Pay What You Can and what does that really mean? We’re handing over to Krishnamacharya to explain that for you ( we couldn’t say it better ourselves! ) ‘Krishnamacharya, however, did not ask for specific fees from students. He left it to students to offer what they could afford. He could gauge the financial status of a student by observing him - for instance, wether the student arrived by bus, motorbike or car ( rare in those days ). This would indicate to him how much the student could afford to pay. His personal principle was to remain content with whatever a student paid; but the student’s payment, in view of his apparent financial status, was a measure of how much the student valued the teachings’

20.01.2022 They say the hardest yoga is the yoga of change. It’s no secret that we are guaranteed to encounter big ass resistance when we move towards growth. I’m sure you’ve all experienced that once or twice this year! Over the last 12 months or so many of you have witnessed some big changes in Yoga For All, I mean it’s been quite a year for it. For all of us. With that in mind I’ve made the decision to pass on the reigns at the studio to someone I believe is perfect to take it where... it needs to go next. I’m excited for the future of the studio, it’s new Mama and the prospects and plans she has with regards to the future of Yoga For All. For me, well, I moved to the Northern Beaches just before lockdown ( course I did ) and I plan to continue with teaching but will be taking time to rest and digest first! My decision to pass on the role of Mama came truthfully from the acceptance that I can’t do all the things and my heart is fully committed to giving all I have to Yoga Teacher Trainings and other similar endeavours. I wouldn’t know where to begin with saying thank you. There are so many of you I love with all my heart. To those of you who have ridden this rollercoaster with me over the last 7 years, I salute you. You have the patience of saints and it wouldn’t have happened without you. To those of you who practice, have practiced and those of you who support from the sidelines, again, Yoga For All wouldn’t be what it is without you. This place is way bigger than a yoga studio, it’s a living organism that is held together by a community of people that care for each other. It has been an honour and a privilege to have had an opportunity to do my little bit in the story of this ever evolving, quirky and so incredibly special little space. Our new Mama will be announced in the New Year Love to you all, Lys x x I have a few classes left ( although I understand it’s a busy time of year! ) They’re online cos’ lockdown but it would be lovely to see some of you over the holidays : https://www.yogaforall.com.au/events/medicineofmoon https://www.yogaforall.com.au/book-a-class

17.01.2022 How to practice to kindness? By remembering that at anyone time each of us is going through the wringer. We don’t know what is happening inside of someone else, what kind of day they have had or what they are currently dealing with. It is easy to react. To assume they are being difficult, inconsiderate, selfish etc but the real practice of kindness is this :... No matter what said human is presenting like can we see them through the eyes of compassion, understanding and love? No! It’s not in our human nature. That is why we call it a ‘practice’. Sometimes we do it well, other times not so much. But each time we recognise where we didn’t respond lovingly we have an opportunity to see it, acknowledge it and make a change. This is yoga.

17.01.2022 Our next 200hr Foundation Teacher Training starts in just over 3 weeks! We’d love to share with you our own experiences of the practice of yoga and help you discover how it can help you too x x

11.01.2022 When we make a choice to commit to something deeper it’s usually when we have gotten honest enough with ourselves that the things we are doing aren’t working anymore. For a long time I believed asana was going to solve all my problems and truthfully, it only got me so far. Once I accepted that if I wanted to grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually I’d would have to get out of what was comfortable and commit to something deeper, the decision was easy. If you love drop in ...classes and are happy practicing asana then this ISN’T for you. ( that’s not a judgement by the way, lots of people just want to practice this way ) If, however, you know deep down there’s more to be realised and you want to see more change in the way you are showing up in your life, then this is a great next step. Over 8 months you will have the opportunity to experience all aspects of yoga and what it means to embody these practices in daily life. This practice is about remembering who we were before everything ‘happened’. This is the promise of yoga. If you’re feeling called to join us we have 2 spots left. X

08.01.2022 Tomorrow Tess Hynes officially takes the role of new owner and Yoga Mama to Yoga For All. We couldn’t think of a more perfect new boss lady. A true community weaver who has unofficially mothered us all in one way or another over the last 7 years. We’re so proud of her and the commitment she is making to taking Yoga For All into the next chapter. ... A few words from Tess : I remember attending the opening of Yoga For All in 2013 and having an innate knowing that I would be working in this little studio at some stage. Not long after, I starting teaching at Yoga For All and it has been a real home for me since. I am feeling many emotions however excited, nervous & motivated are definitely the predominant ones as I step into the role of Y4A Mumma. We have an exceptional teaching team, alongside these amazing humans, I look forward to bringing you the same Yoga For All magic and love. I can't wait to see what 2021 brings for all of us. Much love, Tess. For full info and what’s next you can find our newsletter here : https://www.yogaforall.com.au/newsletter-signup

04.01.2022 Charlie Speller is back with us again next week. This time with a focus on how to build back your practice after birth. Here’s what she has to say : Yoga for your Postpartum Body... There is so much emphasis on getting back to your pre-pregnancy body As a postpartum person, this is my personal take on it: I don’t want to get back to my pre-pregnancy body. My body has evolved. My body grew a human being and me and that little human birthed him into this world (with the help of a midwife). I have evolved as a person. I nourished my child for 19 months with milk that my body created. I feel different, my body feels different to what it was pre-pregnancy.... it is wiser, it has a knowing. It has felt sensations it had never felt before pregnancy. So when I contemplate on bouncing back or getting back into shape, it feels like a brushing aside of the amazing stuff my body did. Sure, I want to feel fit, healthy, strong etc, but I don’t want to go BACK! This workshop will help you to feel your postpartum body and begin to enhance your relationship with it because it is incredible! If you feel like your postpartum body is letting you down, that’s OK. It might mean you need to educate yourself on how to heal. This workshop will help you to get on track.

03.01.2022 From Wagga YTT to Newcastle YTT It’s so encouraging to see how many of you are taking the next step in deepening your experience and understanding of this magic we know to be Yoga. The main topics of conversation over the last few months have been around how do we take this practice off our mat and start to live it? At Y4A we collectively believe that when we can bridge the gap between intellectually understanding these practices and practically applying them in our lives t...hat it’s then that the true alchemy happens. When we REALLY start to see big changes in our lives, relationships, physical and mental health and connection to Spirit. How do we start to do this? We begin by making choices that serve the greater good, do the next right thing, be of service to others and learn to listen deeply. Loving you all
