25.01.2022 This is one of the best ways to spend a Sunday morning that I know of. A beautiful setting in a truly gorgeous home and garden, an irresistible variety of breakfast foods to experience with great company and an invigorating yoga class to help the mind and body to feel at ease.

24.01.2022 Kitchari. I feel like I post about it every year. Well, maybe I am exaggerating but it's this time of year that I start to become obsessed with Kitchari. I am exposed to people who are sick or recovering and KItchari comes to mind when I am making recommendations, as it is good and right and healing for everybody. I was first introduced to it while I was in residence studying my Yoga Teacher Training. It is the thing that started me eating vegetables for breakfast. Here is a link to an easy and quick recipe because when you decide you want some KItchari, you want it now. https://www.ayurveda.com/recipes/kitchari

22.01.2022 How many times have you thought or said that you would like to try yoga but something stopped you? You either thought you didn't belong, you weren't flexible enough, you'd do it when the kids have left home, when you've lost that weight etc. It's time to stop waiting until you are ready and begin to be willing. Now is the only time you have. Contact Karen to book a spot. There are places still available

22.01.2022 Accountability is a word I live by every day. Or at least I try! This is a guide for me in life and it helps me make decisions and keep me on track. I was asked the other day What will your legacy be? and it got me thinking....again! While I don’t have the entire answer figured out, I would like to think that I have lived my aware adult life as being a somewhat responsible, accountable person, considerate of the impact of my actions. What about you? What is one of the values you use to guide your life?

20.01.2022 Thought you all might like this. It's a Chakra Balancing using singing bowls. If you haven't already try it out. It can have an amazing effect. Even for me, who isn't really in to sound meditation. Give yourself 15 mins and get into it. Read the instructions.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ar9vsmFhJU See more

19.01.2022 "Channel the magic of Gratitude everyday." This term, our yoga classes have had a focus on the practice of gratitude. . Each week, during savasana, we do a new guided meditation that connects us to the experience of gratitude. It's all feel good stuff. There are many reasons to practice gratitude. The immediate effect on our health and wellbeing is an obvious one. Even though we Australians dont have a "Season of Gratitude", the writings coming out of America at the moment are worth reading as they give us a good summary of all the research that promotes this beneficial practice. This article is not just about journaling but covers the whole facet of gratitude and is worth reading as another way to instil a regular habit of being aware of all that we can be grateful for.

10.01.2022 We are back after a perfect restorative break. Join us for your time to create change in your mind and body.

09.01.2022 To me self care looks like time spent listening to a guided meditation. While a daily meditation helps me stay on track, a guided meditation helps my mind and body recover in the most nourishing way. I'm usually in a form of viparita karani. No matter what self care looks like for you, I hope you’re able to enjoy some this week.

09.01.2022 Yoga for Beginners Course starting October 27th. Do you want to join it?

07.01.2022 Overheard in a yoga class......

07.01.2022 Nothing new to read here. All of you regular yoga practitioners know the powerful positive impacts of yoga and it's associated breathing practices. However, it's always good to read that science backs it up with evidence. This study found that yoga breathing exercises can lead to decreased anxiety and improvements in emotional regulation. In other words.... you feel happier. :-) In just FOUR weeks. https://www.psypost.org//four-weeks-of-pranayama-breathing

07.01.2022 Don't forget to check out the skies tonight and for the next two nights, to experience the super rare phenomenon of the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter. A reminder that we are just a tiny speck in this humongous universe.

07.01.2022 During these potentially stressful, anxiety producing days it's helpful to practice gratitude. Our ability to feel the value of gratitude is helped if we open our hearts, physically and energetically. Anahatasana, or Melting Heart pose, deeply opens the shoulders, the chest, upper spine, neck and lower back. Heart and lung meridians receive a fresh burst of prana (energy). Try this yoga pose first thing in the morning to set the tone for the day ahead We've been... incorporating this pose in to our classes, but as is always the case some variations are helpful for some bodies. Alternatives & Options: *If shoulder pain prevents the arms from going overhead, move them further apart. *If you’re flexible, you can bring the chin to the floor and look ahead, but this could strain the neck. *If knees are uncomfortable here, place a blanket underneath them. *Toes can be tucked under. This helps with foot cramps. *Chest can be rested on a bolster (allowing the body to relax). *You can do this pose with just one arm forward at a time, resting the head upon the other forearm." 06.01.2022 "The master sticks to her tools." Lao Tzu Routine, habit and ritual...... if they ground us, bring contentment, some peace........ then never give them up. They will be our saviour during rough patches in life. These "tools" may be our yoga practice, a daily walk, sitting down to dinner each night with our family etc. Whichever the case, we are advised to make it such a habit that it becomes second nature. If we make that practice a priority, it will carry us through the ...tough times, the smooth times and the in-betweens. It will be our refuge, our nourishment, our strength. It's these practices that help us let go of events of the past and reconnect us to the strength within ourselves. Stick to your tools and your refuge will hold. See more

03.01.2022 Yoga encourages the production of all of these Happy Hormones. But don't let that stop you from indulging in all these other activities. Lets raise the positive vibration of this planet. :-)

01.01.2022 As you often hear in your yoga class "Where the attention goes, the energy flows." While he may have been a bit wild, Frank Zappa knew what was going on 45 years ago! "None of us have the promise of tomorrow, God forbid this is my last day on this beautiful earth, it won’t be spent listening to some news person telling me how rotten we are, how rotten life is, heck no, I’m going out and seeing how beautiful life is. As humans, our time on this planet is very limited... Turn ...off, tune out and turn on your life. Peace" ~ Frank Zappa Be selective about where your attention goes. See more
