Many of us have learned it to be something we are expected to have without question, others incorporate it into daily life during trying times. In mindfulness traditions, Faith is no longer derived from hierarchical dogma, but as a practice available to anyone in any moment. Faith is the seed of courage we need to step away from old conditioning an...d belief systems, and instead step into the truth of who we really are. But how do we let go of resistance and embrace this world with trust and wisdom? This 2-hour practice includes a pranayama, meditation, and a challenging asana practice full of binds, core work, and balancing, in which we figuratively and literally reach into the unknown. 16.01.2022 Sunday Night Yin at YOGALAB What a way to end a week, and prepare for the week ahead! Yin yoga is beneficial for so many reasons, one of them being Sleep Quality. This slow, joint stimulating style of yoga is built on the Yin/Yang theory of Chinese medicine, which is all about the balance of the relationship dynamics of the ever-changing manifest universe. The theory is that everything in the universe has Yin qualities and Yang qualities and is always in a Yin or Yang relat...ionship with something else. Generally speaking, things with Yin qualities tend to be dark, cool, slow, feminine, pertaining to the moon and the water element, hidden, quiet and still. Yang is more fiery, hot, active etc. When we have an excess of Yang in ourselves, we may experience restlessness or poor sleep quality. The best way to balance Yang energy is with Yin energy! Studies show that if you practice yoga and meditation regularly, you may sleep longer, fall asleep faster and return to sleep more quickly if you wake up in the night. Pranayama is a Sanskrit word meaning extension of the breath or more accurately, extension of the life force. The word is composed of two Sanskrit words, Prna meaning life force and yma, meaning to extend, draw out, restrain, or control. Pranayama teaches us a more conscious way to breathe. Breathing is a normal part of our life, and we often forget to pay attention to it. It is the bodys natural inclination to hold the breath whenever we feel physically or emotionally challenged. Many of us have learned it to be something we are expected to have without question, others incorporate it into daily life during trying times. In mindfulness traditions, Faith is no longer derived from hierarchical dogma, but as a practice available to anyone in any moment. Faith is ...the seed of courage we need to step away from old conditioning and belief systems, and instead step into the truth of who we really are. But how do we let go of resistance and embrace this world with trust and wisdom? This 2-hour practice includes a pranayama, meditation, and a challenging asana practice full of binds, core work, and balancing, in which we figuratively and literally reach into the unknown. All of these elements ultimately explore faith as a practice, how to cultivate it, and the rewards of doing so.
