25.01.2022 FAQ What is Yogama? We offer free family yoga classes in Clayfield every week. These classes are designed for parents and their babies or kids (smalls from 6wks to 16yo have joined before and all are welcome)! We use the class as a space for parents to catch up and exercise together. When are the classes: Most Wednesday afternoons. PM me if you're interested in more info. ... What are the classes like: If there's a few kids, we'll start with a few kids yoga poses, then move into a more normal adult class, and kids can then have a play or stay in join in some of the poses if they would like. Where are the classes? Usually in my backyard in Sydney St, Clayfield. PM me for address I've never done yoga before, can I come? Sure, it doesn't matter if you're a beginner or not very fit, all levels are welcome. Just do what you can and take breaks when you need to. How much are the classes? All classes are free Can I come if I have an injury? You need to ask your doctor and get their clearance first. What about if I've been sick? To ensure the little ones are as healthy as can be, please refrain from coming if your children are sick. The kids are always sharing their food with each other and it's nice for them to do that without worrying about getting sick. What should I bring: A water bottle, old yoga mat (if you have one) and if you're bringing little ones then a drink and hat (it's mainly in the shade, but there is a little sun). What about if I have more than one child: You can bring as many children as you like. I've had a lot of mums bring two or three children to class and we manage to make it work and fun! I'm worried my little one will cry and interrupt the class: If you're little one is "just having one of those day", please don't stay home. What's worse than sitting at home by yourself indoors with a little one throwing tantrums!? Get outside, come join in and we'll try and find some distractions. The class is very stop-start, so if you need to feed, chase a child who's getting into mischief, change nappies or anything else you do what you need to do and rejoin the class whenever you can. Sometimes you get 10 minutes of yoga done in an hour, but most of the time you'll be able to do the whole class. Once they get used to the environment, the yoga routine and each other, they tend to play nicely with each other, join in a few moves and really enjoy the hour!

20.01.2022 Some tips for practicing yoga with kids! I've been teaching yoga with babies, toddlers and kindy kids running around for a year now and here's some of the poses that are a hit with the littlies: 1. For the kiddies, any poses that involve animals - Lion's pose, gorilla pose, cat pose, cow pose, frog pose, snake pose, downward dog pose. Try and tell a story about running through the jungle and finding each animal and make the sounds as you go. 2. For the toddlers, poses where t...hey can jump on you and be playful, like upward dog and you can pretend to be a horse and they can jump on your back and be the jockey, sing the downtown races song as you go! 3. For babies, well they can be a great substitute for weights and love getting involved, you can lie on your back and lift and lower baby giving them a kiss every time your lower or you can put them on your shins and do leg extensions, holding onto their hands to keep them safe. Lots of touch, giggles and playfulness and babies will love being involved. By far the best pose is savasana. Five minutes at the end of practice where kids, toddlers, babies and mums all lie down, close their eyes, have a cuddle and relax, it's just beautiful to watch! See more

15.01.2022 Pregnancy-safe abdominal exercises Excessive and repetitive activation of your superficial abdominal, like your rectus abdominis and obliques can increase yo...ur chance of abdominal separation during pregnancy (think sit-ups, planks, advanced Pilates ab exercises). So how do we keep our abdominals active and engaged without overdoing it? Check out my pregnancy-safe tummy sequence here This video is 2x speed so SLOW It down The Pilates ring is not essential but is a great way to engage your upper body as well! If you don't have one, you can use a small ball or even folded pillow. For all exercises, gently draw in pelvic floor and deep abdominals and maintain neutral spine If you become uncomfortable on your back - roll off or prop up onto elbows 1. Knee fallouts -gentle squeeze of ring - allow one knee at a time to 'fall out', stopping when your opposite pelvic bone lifts - return to start position. Repeat 10x each side 2. Knee twists - Bring feet in nice and close to butt - gentle squeeze of ring - take knees to one side as you take ring to other side. Only go as far as shoulder width. Repeat 10x each side 3. Leg extensions - gentle squeeze of ring - lift one leg to tabletop, reach out to tap heel to mat, leg back to tabletop and return to floor - alternate sides Repeat 10x each side 4. Bridging -gentle squeeze of ring - gently tuck tailbone, lift hips from ground - take arms overhead to tap ring to ground and return. Ensure you don't flare ribs and keep deep abs gently activated - lower hips to ground Repeat 10x Any questions, please ask! Physio , massage and Pilates bookings available via website x

06.01.2022 Yogama is all about about multi-tasking - letting the kids play, run around and eat breakky, while you get in a workout and catch up with friends! Here's some more great life hacks to get you through. Discovering how to multitask in the bath was the best for me, I got through my Masters by watching uni lectures in the bath while Connor played with fish and tipped water all over me. I love the idea of teaching lessons in the car too!

01.01.2022 A lot of people ask where to buy prenatal and postnatal Yoga clothes? Most of mine came from taget/big W but I treated myself to one pair of maternity Bamboo body pants and Bamboo top and wore them most days. Some of my student recommend the Naked Align Crop by Lululemon, they arent maternity pants but they are stretchy enough to get you through first two trimesters at least. Post birth, you can wear the same pants until you fit into your olds ones, but will need a breastf...eeding exercise top and bra as theres no chance your baby wont want to feed between when you leave home and when you come back from your Mums n Bubs yoga class! Bonds breastfeeding singlets and maternity bras are cheap, comfy and fabulous, but for something a little more stylish, I lived in my Boob top everyday so bought three of them. All of these should be available online and from memory, bonds even pay for postage for returns if you get the wrong size. Bonds maternity are also on sale now. http://www.glowmama.com.au//bamboo-/products/3-4-leggings http://info.lululemon.com.au/design/fabrics-technology/naked https://www.bonds.com.au/maternity-hidden-support-singlet-y http://www.glowmama.com.au///products/nursing-v-neck-top-1
