25.01.2022 This quote by the great master of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba,.practice and training and discipline is all about coming to center. Aligned in the central axis, we practice to elevate and sharpen our awareness so we can then discern and act with precise compassionate consciousness.

25.01.2022 THE ART OF BEING ADAPTABLE and utilizing the forces of both yogic and martial arts. In a powerful wind a strong tree will break and be destroyed whereas a flexible reed will bend and return to its original position when the wind stops . Taoist Sage saying.

17.01.2022 WINTER YOGA & MARTIAL ARTS is about ACTUALIZING POWER(S) AND CULTIVATING SELF (the deeper essence of who you are) in harmony with the season. This is done through developing enhanced flexibility and agility, cultivating greater energy levels that can be stored within the tissue of the body, improving body balance and harmony of the nervous system, improving co-ordination and awakening a purer focus. Our practice and discipline should enable us to carry the wisdom, knowledg...e and energy of nature via the seasons. During the winter deep tissue work is encouraged as the body tissue is the vehicle to awakening spiritual insight and a pathway to understanding your reality. During the winter season it is time to release habitual tension, clear energetic congestion and trauma that is stored within the body which limits free physical, mental and emotional development. In this way, the natural form of the body may be realized and energetic flow restored ready for Spring & Summer.

16.01.2022 The Yogic (self-realisation) side of Martial Arts.

16.01.2022 The essence of Monday's 7pm class: Cultivate courage that is indomitable. Great Masters have encouraged us to "Ensure that your spirit knows no flagging, no defeat, no despair. Understand Fearlessness and Freedom" this you must learn to say and practice with assurance and confidence. The discipline of Yoga and Martial Arts is a life long practice of devotion and commitment to understanding yourself.

12.01.2022 In martial arts, unfortunately it has been portrayed and glamourized solely as an external battle of force between two opposing forces. Although I am in constant awe of the physical agility and skill of this art, in yoga i am profoundly moved when my indomitable quality rises from within with courage to take inventory of myself and see where the true battle lies within me. Cultivate your indomitable quality in your practice and in daily life, not with wilful determination but with focus, humility and grace.

12.01.2022 Energy Centres & Clear Light 'Reality': "Each of the Dantians has a connection with a certain level of reality, so if you consider that Dantian is only a location for energy or energy reservoir/container, it will be a big mistake. Each of them is a manifestation of Mysterious Primordial (Dao) and, therefore, the understanding of the true nature and spiritual attainment of the Dantian is one of the most important moments in the practice of internal alchemy. And Qi in the dant...ians can help us to do it. " ______ Vitalii Lishchyna, disciple of Grandmaster Lu Shi Yang and the head of the Daoist School Zhen Dao outside the territory of China See more

09.01.2022 There are several reasons for keeping your eyes open when you practise meditation. With your eyes open, you are less likely to fall asleep. Then, meditation is not a means of running away from the world, or of escaping from it into a trancelike experience of an altered state of consciousness. On the contrary, it is a direct way to help us truly understand ourselves and to relate to life and the world. - Sogyal Rinpoche

09.01.2022 Training Every Saturday at 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Children and Adults combined for the first hour and second hour for Adults.

08.01.2022 Yogic Scriptures express the importance of Yoga Asana Practice and breathing exercises such as Pranayama. "Surya Bhedi (also called Surya Bhedana) pranayama can stimulate and awaken energy both in the physical and the pranic bodies. In particular, it can activate and energize the Pingala Nadi, which is associated with the right nostril or the "sun" nadi and the sympathetic nervous system. Chandra Bhedi (or Bhedana) is just the opposite of Surya Bhedi and activates the Ida Nad...i which is associated with cooling aspect and the parasympathetic nervous system. The word "surya" means the sun and "bhedi" means one that can pierce. Thus the literal meaning of Surya Bhedi is to pierce or energize the right/Sun/heating nostril. Chandra means the moon and represents the cooling energy of the moon."

06.01.2022 The Summer Solstice. In India, the summer solstice marks the end of a 6-month period when spiritual growth is supposedly easiest. We reflect on our journey and experiences and we open to impression for the new spiritual cycle as we move from summer solstice to winter solstice. The summer solstice is the most powerful day of the year for ‘Sun Energy’. The element of fire is enhanced during this time (Dec 21st-22nd). It is a time to become aware of growth and transformat...ion, a time to acknowledge the light of the sun, to give thanks to the foods we eat that are rich in the suns vital energy, which give us energy for our yoga practice. The Summer Solstice has the longest daylight hours and the shortest nighttime hours. It is considered auspicious to practice Surya Namaskar at the time of summer solstice, to connect with and build upon the enlivening solar energies that pulsate within us during this time. Get up at dawn, face east, and do 108 repetitions ( or as many as you can) of Surya Namaskar sequence. Practice Surya Bhedana pranayama (Single Nostril Breath) to harmonize the body’s solar and lunar energies on the day of the solstice. The day before we are advised to practice Chandra Bhedana pranayama. ( see next post). After you finish your practice, invoke grace by drawing your hands together in Anjali Mudra. Feel the inner glow of your own heart.

06.01.2022 "Asanas are a microcosm of life. They are miniature worlds filled with all the forms of the world at large. Our ability to thrive amidst those forms can be improved through the artful awareness developed in yoga practice." ~ Sharon Gannon & David Life

06.01.2022 Balancing the faculties & facilities of The Brain: The positive results produced by energy balancing the faculties and facilities of the brain can be explained by both Eastern and Western medicine. Chinese acupuncturists and Indian yogis believe that the ear lobes contain energy meridians. Acupuncturists use the ear lobes to access acupuncture points in the brain and pineal gland. Indian yogis explain the "super brain yoga effect" as an activation of the brain’s energy conne...ctions. The right lobe activates the left brain and the left brain activates the right brain. A healthy discipline and practice should include exercises that synchronize the right and left hemispheres of the brain. The objective being to move the energy from the lower chakras of the body to the higher chakras in the brain region during this process the energy changes into subtler energies that can improve brain functioning at a cellular level "Pinching the lobes also activates the pineal gland, which sits in the center of the brain. The pineal gland regulates our circadian rhythm and thus mood and overall well-being. The circadian rhythm is the biological clock that regulates our biological processes in 24-hour cycles. Our circadian rhythm operates on the light-dark cycle. This tiny pea-shaped structure regulates the hormone melatonin, which regulates our body’s responses to light and dark. Many factors affect the health of the pineal glands, including mental stress, an imbalanced circadian rhythm and nutritional imbalances. Since Indian yogis discovered the super brain practice thousands of years ago, many factors in our environment have changed, putting the health of the pineal gland even more at risk. Environmental pollution is our greatest threat. Increasing evidence shows that radiation may affect our circadian rhythm. Electromagnetic fields may interfere with the functioning of the pineal gland and reduce melatonin production. EMFs emit radiation from power lines and our electronic appliances. Thus, activation of the pineal gland is more important today than ever and could help to regulate many health issues" . - Super Brain Yoga & the original Thoppukaranam. Namaste.

05.01.2022 ‘With knowledge comes a responsibility’. Masters such as Hanshi Gogen Yamaguchi made the link between the ancient art of yoga and Karate (Goju Ryu Martial Arts). In this masters later years, Yamaguchi turned more to spiritual matters and his synthesis of Goju, shinto, yoga and zen started to be absorbed into his practice and teachings. Book: "Karate. Goju-ryu by the Cat".... More on this in next post.

05.01.2022 Flow with whatever is happening and let your mind be free. Chuang Tzu "The key is to both embrace and let go of each moment simultaneously. To participate and witness at the same time. In doing this, it is perfectly possible to create a Zen-like process of attentiveness to, and reverence for, your everyday experience. Being Present to the experience of our life, moment by moment, can help awaken our capacity for extraordinary joy, freedom, compassion, and creativity".... All authentic spiritual traditions have as part of their process a centering of consciousness on the power of Now, as well as teaching's on 'authentic body movement'. To experience our Centre, "we must balance will and surrender, yin and yang, intention and letting go".

04.01.2022 "Those who use inner vision and sense the qi flow in the channels, and who can observe and examine through meditation and inner contemplation, what they say is certainly not false". - Li Shizhen, "A Study of the Eight Extraordinary Channels"
