18.01.2022 As we explore the soul, it is important to remember that this exploration will take place within nature (the body), for that is where and what we are. B.K.S. Iyengar, Light on Life We often speak of yoga as a way of creating a greater integration between mind and body. But what does that really mean? Certainly, the practice of yoga asanas enables us to experience being in our body in novel and deeply nourishing ways. It enables us to calm and ease the mind, as the nervous s...ystem settles down during practice. But as B.K.S. Iyengar notes in the quote above, yoga also offers a path to explore our full nature, including our deepest essence - that part which we traditionally call our soul. There are different paths through which yoga practice gives us this gift. Breath offers one important vehicle for settling both mind and body and connecting us with a deeper level of awareness. Just as important is the vehicle yoga offers for connecting us with Prana, or life force energy - the vital essence that upholds our life and pervades all of our being. Breath similarly is a vital force for deepening our experience of the extended mind-body. Deep diaphragmatic breathing draws the mental focus into what is known as the belly brain", and offers valuable insights into how to gain the most out of the classic Yogic 3-Part Breath. Now, to this week’s offerings: Monday 5:30pm Beginners continuing the journey Tuesday 9am Easy Balance Sequence Wednesday 9:30am Easy Agility Sequence Wednesday 5:30pm Challenging Agility Sequence. 09.01.2022 "One door closes and another opens" It is with sadness that my final week of teaching Yoga in Mt Gambier is now here. l have been so blessed to have met so many wonderful people during my teaching experience. It gladdens my heart to see such bliss on the faces of students at the end of each class. I’ve also loved the challenge of helping a student with a physical issue and have enjoyed feedback whether it is positive or constructive. I know that I have completed what I set ...out to achieve. In this final week my Yoga offerings are: Monday 5:30pm Beginners continuing their journey Tuesday 9am Lower Body Flexibility Wednesday 9:30am Upper Body Flexibility Wednesday 5:30pm Let’s Twist Together As with all our lives, changes are immanent and we are looking forward to our next stage of life where we can take it easy or be as busy or lazy as we please.
