20.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0800 at the back of Goodwin Park (down Jarvis Lane) Coolangatta. Kindness..."listen with ears of tolerance, see through the eyes of compassion, speak with the language of love"--Rumi.... What a wonderful way ogf being and an intention to have. On a more personal note (rarely personal on FB) I have been humbled by the kindness shown to me, especially recently...in words and actions. You know who you all are. One of the pictures below show a lovely group of friends and yogis who took me out for lunch. How sweet and kind and thoughtful. Was thoroughly spoiled. Gratitude...can never express it enough though it is a daily practice. X

19.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0800 QLD TIME 0700 NSW time At the back of Goodwin Park (down Jarvis lane Coolangatta) BYO mat.... This is the last week with my teaching.. (this Tuesday and Thursday) except of course yoga is not 'my teaching' but comes from a long long line going back centuries. The arms of yoga reach out to hug us...and shelter us.... just like the arms of a tree shade us and provide protection (all those phytocines they exude for our immune system Team...and their oxygen CO2 exchange with us). Being under trees is good for our nervous system...keeps us calm and centred just as pranayama and asana and meditation also helps our nervous system. Trees remind us of our roots...yet we too can continue growing and reaching outward and upward, just like trees. Standing on the Earth keeps us grounded, reminds us too that we would not exist if not for this planet and that she is our responsibility... Teachers come and teachers go...but the science of yoga in one form or other will continue to be transmitted and shared across the planet...some traditional, some more 'westernised' and some a mix of 'Allsorts' (like the licorice) like my teaching. After all it takes many different species of tree to create a forest...and many different types of yoga to create a mix large enough so that everyone shd find one to suit. So...a very tree-y post. I end, as we do in our yoga practice, with Namaste What is special and divine in me recognises what is special and divine in you.

11.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0900 at the back of Goodwin Park, Coolangatta Bring your own mat and something warm for relaxation. Let all that you touch be a blessingI love this saying of Sadhguru's. We are connected to everything on this planet and so it behoves us to look after the Earth and its forests, its trees and plants, waterways, all animals and birds, fish, each other and ourselves. So, to reiterate, let all that you touch be a blessing.... PS: I am giving away yoga blocks to yogis tomorrow so once more we can practise asanas such as supported bridge/legs in the air and other stretches. I will also havex2 crates of clothes in car in great condition (from evening wear /yoga tunics and everyday) as I have a lack of storage space. See you tomorrow! XSue

10.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES NOW @8am Tues Thurs Saturdays Still at the back of Goodwin Park, Coolangatta. Bring a mat and something warm for relaxation. Look forward to seeing you all. X

09.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES SATURDAY 0900 @ the back of Goodwin Park, Coolangatta. Isvara pranidhana--humble surrender. Many interpret Isvara as pertaining to the higher power that underlies the workings of the universe. For those who like to feel a sense of personal connection with the Divine any form of God can be called upon. The spirit of surrender--on and off the mat--means that we can avoid wasting energy by struggling against the tides of life. ... Yoga helps us see that, far from being a weakness, surrender is an empowering part of our practice that frees up beneficial energies. It allows us to be guided by forces other than willpower and self-control. So, in this way yoga helps us to relax into the magic of the vast cosmic order of which we are a part.

09.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0800 COOLANGATTA. Back of Goodwin Park (Down Jarvis Lane)... Whoever practises Yoga gains strength, courage and a zest for life. So ...my last class tomorrow... I thought to leave you with some: Guidelines for Practice 1. Regular and careful practice is important, both equally so. 2. Never practise Yoga on a full stomach 3. Wear comfortable, unrestrictive clothing 4. Practise in a quiet place or in Nature 5. Consciously try to switch off-- relax body mind and breath. Observe your in and outbreaths 6. Practise each asana with attention/concentration as you ride your breaths. 7. If it is not possible to perform certain asanas on the basis of physical limitations please leave them out. You can still practise them mentally either sitting or lying down 8. Everything takes time Yoga is a science of Body Mind Consciousness and Soul. It is the source of all wisdom in finding the real purpose of life and our own nature and our oneness with the whole of Creation. 9. Gratitude, always You have The Power (literally you do) so "May the force be with all of you". So lovely to have shared Yoga with you all during the last 6 years from Palm Beach and Coolangatta to Fiji to Nymboida to Woody Head .

08.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0900 THURSDAY BUT FROM SATURDAY WE WILL BE PRACTISING FROM 0800! Goodwin Park (down Jarvis Lane). If raining, no yoga. Bring your mats/ and blocks and straps if you have them. Looking forward to seeing you all. ... Love Sue PS: I love this yoga artwork. What do you think?

08.01.2022 When I left the Gold Coast a few weeks ago I admit to a niggling concern that I was going to lose contact with my lovely yoga community there. But today,on my 65th birthday, I was thrilled to receive so many lovely messages from the yoga community in which I taught. This reminds me what a blessing our yoga friendships are. I think this factor too is often missed out on in yoga schools' and studios' advertising-- it's not about gaining the body beautiful, nor because all str...esses will automatically dissolve in savasana (relaxation), and it's not even that all illnesses and injuries will be miraculously cured by a few asanas(postures)...they won't...but it's an invisible thing...the ties that bind...of care, compassion, laughter, friendship. The way I see people come together is kind of magical. Fair warms the cockles of my heart. So thank you for that same friendship and care you continue to extend to me...I may not be there physically but all of you are not far from my thoughts. I will post weekly....missives about life, and different places, yoga too of course. And feel free to pm me too. Would love to hear from you. Not yet teaching again....pretty remote part of NSW...the cows here aren't listening to my instructions yet. When I can teach again I will. In fact, I imagine that for the years of my life I will be teaching yoga until I can't. Wishing you all peace and joy this holiday season and for 2021.

07.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0800 (Qld time) Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday The human heart and its capacity to love is a constant wonder. The heart cakra (at the physical centre of the body) and at the centre of the cakral chain, is a pivotal point--a place of balance and integration at the intersection of several axis holding them all in balance. It connects the lower centres that deal with the physical world with the higher centres that deal with the spiritual. As these 2 energies(m...atter and spirit, earth and cosmos) unite, the force released is love. This is powerful for it is this life-giving energy which sustains us in times of change/hardship/disaster/can soothe the agitated soul/ heal the broken heart and can render us free, whatever our physical reality. A healthy heart cakra allows us to expand, to increase our capacity to love without barriers and to feel unity with our fellow human beings and to live in happiness. When our hearts are closed not only do we lose loving contact with others but we cut off the flow of energy within ourselves. Adapted from 'Unlocking the Heart Chakra' by Dr Brenda Davies So to Tuesday...as usual, we have heart opening sequences among others in our yoga practice in the park. Bring your mats, and whatever else you might need. With Love.

04.01.2022 And the practice of yoga, that is yoga as a way of thinking, behaving and being---in other words, yoga as a way of life- helps us ride the challenging waves of life. YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0900 Tues/Thurs/Saturdays At the back of Goodwin Park, Coolangatta.... Bring your own mat and blanket or wrap for relaxation at the end.

01.01.2022 YOGA UNDER THE TREES 0800 Tuesdays at the back of Goodwin Park, Coolangatta. Gentle stretching and light body weight strength training and balance. Slower pace with relaxation at end of class so you will leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated not to mention the healing power of all those phytocines released by trees which benefit your immune system! I hope you will be as happy and as bendy as the characters in the trees in the picture below.
