25.01.2022 So, welcome to Barwon Heads Yoga's home-to-home practice. Our online, pixel-based, teaching platform. For the next 3 months, while our Yoga Sangha may look a ...little different, it can hopefully feel kinda the same. As from Tuesday, our practice continues to stream live from my home to yours. And here's a run down of how you can come aboard and land with us on your mat. Barwon Heads Yoga's Term Two is 11 weeks. From Tuesday April 14th - Friday June 26th. All classes will stream through Facebook-Live. * Online offerings are FREE, so you can simply log onto facey (Rache Hely - Barwon Heads Yoga) and practice with us. However if you are in a position to be able to pay, you can book online into our virtual studio: - www.bookwhen.com/barwonheadsyoga It is entirely up to you if you donate casual class, a weekly pass or indulgent term commitment. But if the C word has bitten hard, simply take these practices FREE as an offering of space within these weird-arse times. Please share with family, friends and anyone that you feel might benefit from the connection that comes with community based practice. One where we unite and open to this unsteady world, while be reminded how to be steady within the chaos of such change. Together, we can connect and do this. So as weird as it is, let's start this ride. xx * If you are not on the socials, DM me on [email protected] so we can set you up with Zoom invitations. (And if the virtual world is just too bloody hard, I'm happy to walk you through this new pixelated space)

18.01.2022 So, last week we asked those that could to show up. We came together somehow knowing what we needed to do, but for so many of us - we weren't really sure why. W...e didn’t need to hear the statistics: we know they’re big. And we didn’t need to see any photos: our River was shrouded in smoke. Yet each of us came outside because we were called to. All somehow moved by life as it had been unfolding around us. Making us feel something unfolding deep within. There were those of us who came with anxiety. Our minds racing fast throughout the relentless roads of worry. We are the people of the Air. We live in our heads. There are those of us who came with anger. Our voices wanting to scream as we glare at leadership that never listened. We are the people of the Fire. We live in our bellies. There are those of us who came with tears. Our bodies sobbing and our hearts breaking from what we can’t turn away from and not see. We are the people of the Water. We live in our hips. There are those of us who came with shock. Our stillness rooting us down as we try to make sense of something that can’t be made sense of. We are the people of the Earth. We live in our feet. Yet as we all answered the call - and in doing so together - we realised we are all a little bit of everything. We are all of the Air. Of the Fire. Of the Water. And we are all of the Earth. And this is why we have all felt so rocked by the tragic bushfires of this Summer. Because every one of us is connected to Country. And that country is connected within each of us. Think restorative Yoga, meditation and metta (loving kindness). Over recent weeks, we have all be rocked by the trauma and tragedy that we see on the telly, read in the papers and hear all over the airwaves. It has made us feel all sorts of emotions. And most of these are big and hard to be with. Our anxiety and anger, our sadness and the shock mixed with helplessness, shame and fear are considered the darker side of our emotional compass. It’s the shades of ourselves that are most tricky to be with because - well, it makes us feel isolated inside. So often we can run away from these bigger feelings by changing the channel, turning the page or flicking the dial on the radio. We throw ourselves into work, we bury ourselves into the next netflix binge and we distract ourselves with smaller things - like shoes or surfboards - until the big stuff seems to go away. And it does eventually go. We can shove a shit-load of stuff to be buried deep inside. Where it becomes a shady ember that sits within us as the background. It’s just that any spark - anything next on our journey that makes us feel icky - can easily re-ignite buried embers into flames. Until we can acknowledge our darker emotions as a part of our journey. And seek for something bigger. When we lean into where it feels hard we can be with where we’re at. And if we come together and do this collectively: magic happens. Because we stop acting small and isolated and we remember how to be big and bold. Collectively we own ourselves and help each other out. And this is what we called 150 people to do. And this is why they came. So we could create a space of healing for Country. And acknowledge this as felt within our Selves. You guys just donated 3085 bucks. Feakin legends. xx
