19.01.2022 As kids we loved getting upside down, didn’t we? Cartwheels and somersaults on the lawn, hanging by our legs from tree branches. At some stage we stopped ‘playing’ and life gradually became more serious with two feet planted firmly on the ground. Yoga challenges rigid thinking and invites us to play with new ideas. Most importantly, yoga teaches us to come to the mat with an empty slate, an open mind.... I adore watching children play. They’re curious, free spirited and devoid of inhibitions. They certainly aren’t fussed about looking silly! Maybe we should follow their lead and come back home to our original nature.

14.01.2022 Yoga is creative and fun! It’s about learning to be brave and curious. Are you willing to explore what your body can do and believe that you can achieve more than you think? Remember, if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.... Do what makes you feel alive!

14.01.2022 It’s Monday but it’s OK because yoga classes begin tonight for Term 2! Yoga is always a good idea so come roll out your mat and get bendy with me! Timetable ... Mon 7.15pm at Mt Carmel PS, Sunbury Wed 7.30pm at Listen To Your Body, Gisborne Thurs 7.15pm at the Distinctive Option offices (behind Western Water, Macedon St) *Gentle Yoga Beginners and casual attendance most welcome.

13.01.2022 Bowing is good for the soul. It is a spiritual exchange that expands our capacity for personal growth. This act of humility reveres the vastness of earth, sky and everything in between. Yoga is the act of bowing to everything and everyone. Yogis recognise that life is precious and it begins with a peaceful, grateful heart.... Many people confuse humility with weakness but this is far from the truth. A liberated person seeks to abandon ego, ignorance, arrogance and the sense of entitlement. A humble bow demonstrates appreciation, respect and a deeper understanding of our universal connection between living beings and all aspects of nature. We can bring the beauty of the bow and it’s rich tradition into our relationships with one another. Many cultures bow from the head or hips to each other which says, I want to be open to what you have to offer. It invites others to teach us and support us along our journey. After all, we are all students in this big classroom of life! A bow to life is the wisest way to begin each new day. Namaste.

11.01.2022 Teen Retreat coming up September 25! This school holiday Bethany and I are spending an entire day with twelve teens, diving into health and wellness with a big variety of activities! We’ll focus on tapping into personal power to live with energy and enthusiasm!... Tag a teen that’s up for the challenge!

11.01.2022 Since I was in my early twenties I suffered from bouts of vertigo from time to time and, when it hit, I was utterly out-of-order, down for the count, for days or even weeks. It is a miserable illness and, if you’ve ever experienced it, you’ll know exactly what I mean! The inner ear is our gyroscope, responsible for balance and equilibrium. When it malfunctions the brain and body go into a constant spin. ... The doctors will generally tell you to perform head tilts to get the inner ear fluid moving - and this is where yoga comes into my story. Since practising yoga on a regular basis, my vertigo symptoms are almost non existent. I believe this is credit to the various head positions of the postures that keep ear fluid flowing. This may not be the answer for all vertigo sufferers but it has been my salvation for a decade. Today I had a minor flare up (first time in a long time) so I eventually practiced a few head inversions to keep that nasty monster from popping out of the bushes! I wish doctors would prescribe yoga for patients with vertigo! It might just keep this dizzy dilemma at bay for many people.

10.01.2022 Your life is big. Keep reaching! I watched a moving story last night on 60 Minutes about @em_carey (The Girl Who Fell From The Sky). Her story of survival and resilience is compelling. Many of us believe that the path to our higher purpose is hindered by perceived obstacles. The truth is, we don’t even scratch the surface when it comes to reaching our human potential. As Buddha said, the trouble is, you think you have time.... People like @turiapitt and @em_carey fill me with inspiration because of their ability to transform tragedy into personal triumph. Their stories empower others by planting seeds of strength and encouragement. May each of us find a way to turn our predicaments into achievements and adversity into armour.

09.01.2022 The mountains are my bones, the rivers my veins. The forests are my thoughts and the stars are my dreams. The ocean my heart, it’s pounding is my pulse. The songs of the earth write the music of my soul.

08.01.2022 Loving the long weekend but ready to launch Term 1 yoga later this week! We all crave a dose of self discipline after the summer holidays, right? Sing out if you need more info. Wishing you a focused mind, strong body and brave spirit in 2019! Namaste

02.01.2022 Mother Nature spilling out her crayon box.

01.01.2022 Allow nature’s peace to flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. (J. Muir) We are an intrinsic part of nature. We know that everything affects everything else. The universe is pulsing with energies that move around us and through us. Our ability to cherish the miracles of plants, animals, mountains, sun and moon, sky and seas, has a positive effect on our health.... Being receptive to these energies and aware of our interconnectedness is a simple way to cultivate joy and happiness. By honouring our environment we are taking care of our own home; the body, mind and spirit.
