25.01.2022 Sharing a private moment - dinner last night. Late birthday dinner and daylight savings! I’m so happy that I didn’t have to teach this morning Happy Sunday
24.01.2022 Hello Internet Friends! It’s been a while but here I am with a Christmas Offer of $10 Sunday morning classes to get us from here to Christmas. To be held at an outdoor location around West Ryde.... The last 18 months I’ve been studying and practicing modern Qigong. If you’ve been in class with me any time since August 2019 there’s a HUGE chance you’ve experienced at least one move per yoga class. Come and experience just the Qigong without any yoga shapes. Not too early, in case you’ve been out the night before. Not too long, in case you’ve got things to do. Just right Contact me for details.
23.01.2022 Music Monday This is the piece I played in my last couple of classes. If you enjoyed it, here it is.... If you went there, here it is. Enjoy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uwH47FCPGDU
23.01.2022 With much sadness, tonight is the last night of Qigong. Apparently the people want yoga. I’ll still slip in portions to most classes Most everyone who tries it has a positive experience.... I’ll find a new time slot and space (zoom anyone?) in the near future. 7pm tonight is still on even with this rainy weather. Create some internal sunshine
22.01.2022 Still true. It’s not always easy. It’s sometimes forgotten. Then a friend shared this memory and I get to remember again
22.01.2022 Only 12? Just the beginning. I can think of a whole range of other ways too. Plus, personally at the moment I think I would need 3 or 4 for hero. I’ll take some of my own photos to share some other options very soon. Also I’m planning on selling my foam blocks that I used to use in class. If you want/need some let me know.
22.01.2022 Apologies my people at Fitbodz, my version of low impact Zumba was a bad idea last night, and I’m not moving so well today Luckily I already had an acupuncture session booked this afternoon. So as I look after myself, Tracie will be looking after you at 10.30 class. See you tomorrow
21.01.2022 Here’s an example is extreme block usage. You need 12 blocks! Padding for your spine/upper back. Perhaps a blanket to cover you. You may need an assistant for that part. I’m sure it has a name - I learnt this in restorative yoga - but right now I’m going to call it suspended savasana. It is amazingly relaxing
21.01.2022 The way I have taught yoga over the last decade has changed (thank goodness!). I have been at some places for that whole period too, and some of the members have been with me on that journey. Some changes embraced, others not so much. Now comes the biggest change as I leave those places and seek changes for me. Happy new year
20.01.2022 Yesterday I discovered something sad. An acquaintance gets no joy from the sunsets at the beach, because he’d seen so many! It was not the most spectacular one, but as the winds came the clouds changed and I regularly stopped in the walk back to the car to stop and gaze and take in the shifting shapes and colours. Even home in the suburbs away from the water i enjoy this everyday light show ... How about you?
19.01.2022 Benefits about Zoom classes. Extra props! As an extension of the classes I used to teach at Epping. They’ve been moved online and this term I’m joining them. Plus I’m kicking it off, teaching this Saturday and next at 9am.... Bolsters and bolster like props required. (Think blankets, towels, cushions...) As well as some kind of chair. Whatever your home space has. Bookings via LaiLin Yoga and Deb Corke
17.01.2022 Hydration is a big part of my day. How about you? It also means I need access to a toilet. Adequate hydration requires planning If you’re reading this now I’d suggest a sip, or a glass of water and stand and stretch
15.01.2022 Not much else to say about this right now. This one’s especially for my mum. Yup
14.01.2022 Do you subscribe to Monday Meh? I choose not to. Find something special in your day today
13.01.2022 It’s going ahead! I am finally teaching my first zoom classes. It’s part of a collective and there are 3 of us. You can choose a discounted price by paying for 10 weeks or drop in at a casual rate of $18. Bookings made via LaiLin Yoga. All details in post below. I’m kicking off the first 2 sessions this Saturday and next. Then the first 2 Saturday’s in November.
13.01.2022 The dog part of birddog! I’m off class the next two mornings. Back online for a Zoom class this Saturday at 9am. Message me if you’re interested in joining
13.01.2022 Summer Solstice. The longest day of the longest year (and possibly even the longest week). You may have heard this term more often lately. The Age of Aquarius So take a moment to soak up these words (and the outfits and dancing are a bonus) and let the sun shine in ... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ILSr9BbhoJQ
10.01.2022 Happy Holidays! Hope you’re all organised as the last thing anyone really wants to do is go to the shops now! I’ve got 4 more classes till the end of this calendar year. Right now I’m looking forward to this mini break of public holidays.... Stay sane
09.01.2022 Super late notice but if you’re up and you’re available there’s still time to register for this! My Qigong teacher
08.01.2022 I’m going on-line! (Finally ) I’ll be rejoining the Epping crew for Saturday classes. We need a minimum sign up of 6 for the whole term to get out of bed but drop in classes are also available. ... Exciting
07.01.2022 I’m starting to hear these conversations in my periphery. Never mind I live with my mother who is still somewhat obsessed by dieting. I love being at the beach, so it must mean I already have a beach body! Since a discussion with The Elemental Herbalist last week I have been very disciplined to do my physio exercises so that I have the FREEDOM to move with ease. ... I’ve also started to re-introduce weights into my life - to counteract menopause/hormonal effects. Plus I’ve re-signed my membership with Nicole Lee Qigong - because I prefer doing classes live rather than on recording. At the moment I’m mostly a bit sore, but I’m planning on that easing. Balancing the act of Balance What are your plans?
06.01.2022 As I delighted in my local dog park I had plenty of time to think of this most recent travesty by government. Some of my yoga teachers have said that the act of yoga is rebellious and political in itself. A practice of peace and love to yourself. One of the first balance poses most of us learn is tree pose (vrksasana). All trees are important, some are more sacred than others. The sacredness of the Djab Wurrung tree was no secret as there were many people facing arrest and fi...nes in protest. If you feel so inclined here are contact details to the government to voice your opinions on the Djab Wurrung Directions Tree (oh and the news of selling out our koalas for a quarry). 05.01.2022 Dude with Sign is on the same page as me It’s a good day for some herbal tea or just warm water as it’s a little chilly here in Sydney today. I’m off to have a glass now. Happy Sunday
03.01.2022 My baggy cotton pants that I like to wear as an alternative to yoga tights come from here. I get the guru pants, which may or may not be on sale. One of my past students turned me on to them. Many of you have commented on them when I wear them to class. So if you’re looking for an alternative to tights and it easily takes you from class to the street
03.01.2022 Pet Spam. On the subject of Zoom classes. On Sunday I did the next instalment of seasonal QiGong. After greetings we start with a class, which I did outside. As Spring is ramping up so are the insects (luckily no mosquitoes, yet). Distractions. Then in the afternoon the cuteness of my old cat in many sleeping positions. Distracted again.... Yoga and QiGong, the practice to keep coming back to yourself
02.01.2022 Whenever I see something about water I feel thirsty. Even though my (usual) bare minimum is one litre before leaving the house. That’s just for starters. Friendly reminder...do you need to drink a glass of water?
