We simply know it as sitting crossed legged, but when experienced with awareness and intention, sukhasana is an invitation into physical and mental balance. ... Sukhasana can also assist with: The initial release in the knees hips spine shoulders. Over time this release allows for the experience of grounding physically and mentally within the posture, ease of the spine and lays the foundations for many other seated postures within yoga. Furthermore the release experienced within this posture is carried off the mat into everyday life. 10.01.2022 "Love is the force which makes life worth living, gives it colour, depth and warmth, allows us to feel intensely and makes us supremely happy." -Dr. David Frawley What is the experience of love without devotion? What is devotion without the energy of love guiding? I've been pondering both these questions for quite some time. The absolute darkness, negativity and isolation of depression has prompted some internal exploration of how to feel life again and I keep coming back to ... d e v o t i o n ~ We can experience both devotion and love by commitment to a relationship . the intense and magical experience of raising a child . the experience of action to a particular cause which rises deep within . but it's not this expression of devotion thats integral to feeling life again . it's s e l f d e v o t i o n ~ The Self which is beyond the "I sense" ego. The Self which is liberated from external attachments. The Self which is pure awareness. The Self which is the true nature of being. It is through tiny, consistent and daily acts, the integrated experience of devotion is lived and love expressed. The acts of devotion become guided by expansive and deep love and this expansive and deep love becomes tiny acts of devotion. Each morning as the sun rises, you are invited to experience life completely within the most profound . loving and expansive sense. This does not come externally, but internally. Through the awareness of your internal environment free of attachment or duality. Currently my exploration of devotion and expansive love is through the tiny and consistent acts of yoga asana . yoga mantra . yoga pranayama . yoga meditation and the practice of Ahimsa (non-violence). Upon reflection, this has allowed sensations of life again. Allow yourself to explore and create tiny acts of devotion and expansive love within your own life . with what works for you . with what is an expression of your Self. Utkatasana can also assist with: learning to support the spine from within. strengthening knees and legs. awakening and balancing the digestive fire for optimal functioning. aids in the elimination process of waste and toxins from the body. Over time, the strength awakened by re-connecting back to the support which already exists within allows for the experience of physical stability. This can be carried into any standing posture. Furthermore the practice of this posture can be carried off the mat into everyday life. This can be experienced through a more effective digestive system through the absorption of the nutrients within food and mentally feeling stable, but grounded through the life experience. Wildflower Yoga Studio is taking a break from teaching classes until further notice. This was an extremely hard decision to make, but I hope the blog post below can shed some light and understanding for you. ... Wildflower will still function but in a different way until the time feels right to step back onto the mat in a teaching role. Yoga is not a practice that exists just on the mat.
