19.01.2022 Do everything with a mind that lets go. If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom. Your struggles with the world will have come to an end... ~ Ajahn Chah ~

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, I would like to say hi to exisiting friends/ clients and welcome all new members / clients and introduce myself to you . I obviously prefer to meet and introduce myself in person but this way i can tell you a bit about myself and my journey with yoga. My name is Rachel ( Rach is fine. )I am blessed with 3 beautiful children that I co-parent with my ex. I have lived in Cairns for 11 years now! Time has flown and I have fallen in love with this amazing place. I... am definetly here for the long term. I work with children with special needs and find it to be rewarding, fullfilling but challenging at times.I have worked in education with children for over 25 yrs now. I have also been a dancer , dance teacher, personal trainer in my past. My journey began with yoga back in my days of being a dancer. I did classes to help with my flexibility but more importantly help with my anxiety. I developed anorexia in my dancing days and had body dysmorphia. Doing yoga and studying fitness helped pull me out of those dark times. I did feel anxiety creep back into my life when I had children and lost my identity. I then went through a marriage breakup and loss of both parents . I also felt the isolation being thousands of kms away from from family. I got myslef through these hard times with great friends and yoga. I saved hard and travelled to Melbourne to study with the very well regarded and knowlegeable Nicky Knoff. I finished my 200hrs training and did further training to be a children's yoga teacher. My business was established the year my mum passed in 2018. I made a bedside promise to her i would not give up on my dream to grow my business depite all obstacles that running a small business.and being a single mum involves.. I want my kids to know if you love something enough you should not give up...ever! So here i am ready for an amazing 2021. Can't wait to see all my lovely regular clients and meet new ones. My intention for this year is to be very authentic hence this personal post. See more

12.01.2022 Great read about why Yoga can help your mental health.

12.01.2022 Life is fulfilling when you are doing things that give you joy. For me teaching yoga and working with special needs kids are my passions. I love hiking in beautiful FNQ , riding my bike and being with my kids, family and friends. 2020 has taught me I may never be financially wealthy but when you are aware that simple things are far more important you then feel incredibly blessed and rich.

10.01.2022 Clients chilling out in forward bend.. or Sanskrit name uttanasana. Bolsters , blocks and belts used to get maximum relaxation and benefits .

08.01.2022 Thankyou to all my wonderful clients who continued to support Yoga Your Way through a very memorable and somewhat challenging 2020. I had hoped to grow my business in a big way and expand to schools etc but had to be happy to just offer yoga to as many as i could in whatever way possible . This I did in a variety of ways including through online yoga classes or discounted classes to help people physically but more importantly mentally. I certainly learnt some life lessons from this year. Value your loved ones and time spent together.. you never know when opportunties to see them won't be there. Look after your health as that is something that unfortunately we can't take for granted & money and things aren't as important as how we treat each other. See you all in 2021 for a wonderful year full of fun, friendship and yoga.

08.01.2022 Studies proove it.. age proof the brain. Join a yoga class.

06.01.2022 Clients recently chilling out at the end of class.

05.01.2022 Yoga can help release emotions.. our hips hold a lot of emotions in particular. Release them and you release built up stress in the body.

05.01.2022 A good informative article for anyone interested..

04.01.2022 Restorative yoga is exactly what everyone needs right now!!! let me know if like to attend these gentle but effective stretching classes and I will inform you of the small classes that are available..

03.01.2022 Getting into yoga for first time or back after a break your likely to feel some muscle soreness in your body. It's not a bad thing it means you are working muscles you haven't used in a while. If you do experience DOMs ( delayed onset of muscle soreness) you will often feel it 24/48 hrs after exercise. (Much like you would after working out at the gym. ) The extent of soreness will depend on your body type, how frequent you practice and the style of your practice. Even if y...ou practice quite regularly you may pull up sore after a class that works some particularly tight fascia. I have a few tips to do...and what not to do if you feel sore. 1. Hydrate with lots of water. ( I add salt in my water ) but plain water is perfect. it helps increase blood volume so that it can ve easily distributed to tissues and allow transfer of nutrition, healing cells and to flush out metabolic waste. 2. get plenty of sleep. your body repairs quicker if you can access your para sympathetic nervous system through deep sleep or rest. 3. gently exercise. walk, stretch etc 4. use a foam roller or fascia release balls ( firm balls work too). 15/20 mins helps relieve muscle tightness. Gently work the fascia by taking it slow. It shouldn't be painful. 5. eat a balanced meal including protein . It helps repair and rebuild muscles, carbs will also speed recovery. 6. do take a bath or hot shower. I love using magnesium salts in the bath too. Helps gets you into your para sympathetic ns. Dont's; drink caffeine, take anti inflammatory drugs. (the bodies inflammatory response is bodies way to aid in repairing damaged tissue.. you hinder rather than help with use of drugs) and don't do intense stretching. this will over stimulate muscles.

02.01.2022 I want to add a 5th yoga most certainly for me ... Loss has personally taught me to value every day and has made me a stronger person..
