21.01.2022 We recently shared with you some of our instructor Amy's little reviewers. We asked Amy what her most rewarding moment had been while teaching Preschool children. "On my last lesson of the 10-week block, the students sitting in a circle and leading the breathing exercise with the Hoberman sphere for their friends. They've understood the concept of breathing and emotion regulation. Just after a few weeks. These little treasures are equipped with tools for life, which will stay with them as they grow up. So rewarding!" We love sharing these stories with you and shows how we can make a small or large difference for each breathing body and mind.

17.01.2022 "I was interested in joining the Board because I love yoga having taken it up as a new year resolution in the year 2000 and I'm so glad I kept that resolution because I have loved it ever since its become a way of life." Yvonne finds that if she misses her weekly class that she genuinely feels the effect. "Not so much physically although that's important, mostly from the sense of being less centred." Yvonne joined the Yogazit Board not long before COVID-19. She had just one... face to face meeting before everything went to Zoom. She explains it was "A crazy time for a small start-up, but we came through it mostly due to Regina's wonderful spirit and tenacity" "I think what we do in bringing yoga and mindfulness to children and to seniors is so important. Yoga is everywhere these days, its just so popular, and for good reason, but I love that Yogazeit's focus is on these two important groups where we can make a big difference to both their physical and mental health through the practice of yoga and mindfulness" Yvonne explains what sparked her connection with Yogazeit and why she chose to volunteer for the board. "I really connected to the vision and values of Yogazeit and as an experienced CEO working in the charitable space and an experienced Board Director I knew that I could use my skills to help the organisation develop and expand its reach and its impact" With Yogazeits commitment to teaching yoga to children and seniors, Yvonne would like to see more opportunities for both age groups to come together. "I am also really keen for us to bring these two seemingly diverse groups together to enjoy the benefits of intergenerational yoga where I'm quite sure both the kids and the seniors will have a great time! Finally, Yvonne shares with us how she likes to spend her free time now and in the future "In the future when I have more time, I see myself enjoying teaching yoga to the young at heart and watching them reap the benefit from it. But for now, apart from work and yoga I love weekend rides with my husband on our new e-bikes, we also love to travel interstate and overseas (when we can) and spend time at our favourite island, Rottnest, in summer" Yvonne, we appreciate all that you do for Yogazeit, and we are beyond delighted you are on our Board of Directors. 15.01.2022 "During Mental Health Week 2020, our Year 5 and 6 students in Room 1 and 3 had the opportunity to take part in a free Mindfulness Incursion. Nearly 50 yoga mats were laid out in the under covered area and students enjoyed 40 minutes of mindful listening exercises, guided mindfulness relaxation, yoga movement and mindful breathing to support their physical and mental fitness. Many had benefited from practising using these key tools to help them manage their emotions and stress in their daily lives. Majority of the students felt relaxed and focussed after the incursion. 11.01.2022 "I grew up in the 1980's. I remember the ads on TV that always said, "Try 'our brand of pain medicine' and if pain persists, please see your doctor". ""When it comes to chronic pain, there is a natural instinct to protect the body from harm by limiting movement. The technical term is kinesiophobia. I suffer from this, and because my pain was widespread, I limited all my movement for an extended period of time, and it was the worst possible course of action, as I only became ...weaker and more prone to injury, and it didn't alleviate my pain long-term" Fiona is a volunteer at Yogazeit and diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. She has found relief through several highly skilled specialists and a recommendation to try Yoga. 01.01.2022 Try to reconnect with family and friends, even though some of us may not be able to meet in person. Call someone you haven’t seen in ages. Reach out to someone who will be alone this Christmas. If you look around people are connecting online, we have seen people offering a seat at their Christmas table, a Christmas zoom to connect family spread out overseas. A facetime or call to a loved one or friend that you tend to message rather than call will make their day and yours. Take the time to reach out and connect.
