23.01.2022 In yoga, I have learnt that our greatest strength comes from the ability to relax. When we can tap into a deep state of calm, bit by bit, the body will give us a little gift. A gift of opening up or becoming stronger in one part of the body. . Same in life, when we can learn to relax the stresses and turmoils of our mind, little bit by little bit we may access little jewels of wisdom or inner guidance - that may lead us to a happy, peaceful place without worry or mental hea...lth issues. . I’ve always been inspired by yogi’s out there who can press gracefully to a handstand. I am yet to master this but all I know is, the more I remain calm, the less I try, the body will keep offering up these little gifts that may eventually lead me there. . Just be consistent, calm, mindful and egoless. This is how we like to operate at Yogic State. See more

21.01.2022 2021 GOALS LEARNING TO FLY (FALLING FLAT ON YA FACE AND GETTING UP AGAIN ) I’ve always had a dream of knowing how it feels like to fly Last year I saw some guys doing a planche pose and it ignited a fire in me. Looked so powerful yet light and strong. (It’s more calisthenics than yoga but yogic core strength and flexibility really helps) ... Having had a spinal injury I didn’t know if it was going to be possible. Slowly I’m regaining more strength and my meditation and listening to love songs are healing the fracture and easing the pain. Now I have full faith that it is possible! My journey to planche is sometimes a rocky one and I keep falling on my face but whatever, I am just greatful to be alive, healthy and pain free. The journey is fun. I try to focus more on my strengths than weaknesses. @yogicstate we try to detach ourselves from the end goal. Instead, focus on our intentions, faith, feelings and beliefs. They are powerful AF. One day, in this life, I believe I’ll fly Anyone got a yogic dream or goal for 2021?

21.01.2022 R.I.P Helen Reddy 1941 - 2020 . I will never know what it’s like to be a woman. But this is to all the women and mothers out there who are going through challenging times. I admire the strength that mothers like Melissa (in the photo) have deep inside. I can undoubtedly see it in her yoga practice. . I am woman, hear me roar... In numbers too big to ignore And I know too much to go back and pretend Cause I’ve heard it all before And I’ve been down there on the floor No one’s ever gonna keep me down again Oh yes, I am wise But it’s wisdom born of pain Yes, I’ve paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to, I can do anything I am strong I am invincible I am woman You can bend but never break me Cause it only serves to make me More determined to achieve my final goal And I come back even stronger Not a novice any longer Cause you’ve deepened the conviction in my soul Oh yes, I am wise But it’s wisdom born of pain Yes, I’ve paid the price But look how much I gained If I have to, I can do anything I am strong I am invincible I am woman

20.01.2022 Great core work today in STRONG FLOW everyone Holding Navasana (Boat pose) longer and stronger each time. . We are learning how to be calm and relaxed while we face a relatively challenging pose. What about in real life? Rather than reacting in stress, anger, frustration or anxiousness, imagine if we can find this state of calm when faced with challenging situations in life. . When someone says something mean or does something hurtful to us - how do we react? Do we get all defensive and feel shit about ourselves? Do we fuel the fire and attack back? Or do we stay calm and collected, try to understand the heart of the problem, process our own emotional reaction to it, heal from it and let go of it? Let’s think about which options will bring us closer to peace

19.01.2022 @ryanmcmahon_cpg the kickboxer getting into his meditative state before his big fight tomorrow! I am amazed at how young people these days have this ability to tap into this flow state. So clear, focused and taking complete power over their state of mind. Us older generation can really learn a lot from the young people. ... Sending you love, focus and meditation for your big fight tomorrow Ryan!

15.01.2022 Deepen your mind to deepen your pose It all starts in the mind

12.01.2022 TIGHT SHOULDERS TODAY? . Take a break from your desk and try child’s pose with pulsations. . 1. Engage your deep breath and slowly melt into child’s pose, with your knees wide, big toes touching, tail bone lengthening towards the heels and your arms stretched out in front shoulder width apart. Slow the breath down and allow the spine and shoulders to soften.... . 2. Once you feel like you have created more space in the shoulders, come up on the fingertips and allow the shoulder blades to relax as you float the forehead off the floor. Keeping the spine and neck long, hover the torso at a shallow distance above the floor. . 3. To pulsate, on an inhale, gently lift the heart centre towards the sky as the chin relaxes back down - opening up the space at the back of the neck. Feel the shoulder become broad. On an exhale, allow the heart to relax back down as the chin gently lifts. Eventually the heart and chin will relax onto the mat. . Repeat this movement whist slowing the breath down. Stay in the place that feels good and step away from any force. As you relax, your range of movement may get orgasmically deeper Enjoy! See more

12.01.2022 Nothing beats the feeling of having freedom in the body! Starts in the mind first though

11.01.2022 So it’s school holidays and super mum of 3 kids Melissa didn’t want to miss out on her weekly private session. . So I agreed for her to bring the 3 little ones to the yoga studio. . This is what happened. Melissa found it hard to focus as she was worried that the kids were being so disruptive and were going to break things. They had so much energy whirling around the spaciousness like a tornado. ... . So we decided to REALLY tap into what yoga is all about. I asked Melissa to let go of worrying about the kids running a muck and making noise just for the hour. They were safe and having fun. I asked her to find the power to withdraw into the calmest state she can find inside herself. For yoga is about calming the fluctuations of the mind and bringing us back to our most natural state of peacefulness. A strong and focused mind untainted by the outside world. . I think she did a f%#king phenomenal job! What do you think? . If we can all operate from a state of calm no matter how much mayhem is going on around us, imagine how much it would benefit our mental health, our immune system, our nervous system, our overall vibration, our peace of mind . Superb work Melissa! . We are no longer taking any more private sessions until the new timetable officially launches Oct 31st. Limited classes available till then! See more

10.01.2022 Your comfort is important to us.

09.01.2022 HIP OPENING CONTINUES! People are really benefiting from opening the hips in STRESS RELEASE CLASS this month so we will continue focusing on hips in January. Especially men. Generally speaking, men store a lot of tension in the hips compared to women. This could be because we tend to hold onto and suppress our emotional stress rather than expressing it. ... Hip mobility will help with training legs at the gym.

03.01.2022 It turns out that people who are more socially connect to family, to friends, to community are happier, they’re physically healthier and they live longer than people who are less well connected. . - Robert Waldinger (Harvard psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and Zen priest - director of the longest Harvard study on adult life and happiness) @robert.waldinger . At Yogic State, we believe that it holds great power when we work as a community to release tension and stress together. When we work on ourselves individually to lift our own vibration we help others lift theirs too. Bring it altogether in one space and the energy is more potent. We are all connected so let’s help each other out

02.01.2022 HAPPY 2021! What a bloody year it’s been! Yogic state was born in Jan 2020 in a tiny little studio above an acupuncture clinic in Penshurst. ... Then the great event hit which forced us and all our small business friends to physically shut down. But this didn’t stop us from operating! We created a WhatsApp group to keep all members and clients engaged with weekly teachings, videos on demand and the YOGIC 5 practices. We whole heartedly thank all the members for supporting us during this period. Once lockdown laws were eased we started offering all members 2 private sessions a month. We then moved to the park, then Rose’s backyard, then to a dance studio in Penshurst and then to @gardensonforest and then finally, we found our new permanent studio in Mortdale. We opened the doors with a GRAND OPENING in November and are now fully operating with 22 classes a week and 4 teachers on board. 6 teachers in the new year! I want to personally thank all the loyal original members who stuck around from the very beginning, following us from random place to random place... then I want to thank all the new members and clients who have arrived at the beautiful new studio. Your energy is lush and I am surprised everyday how much you impress me with your wisdom and mind body connection. I also want to thank the teachers for offering such beautiful classes each with your own unique personality. Finally I want to thank all the yogis who fully understand what we are teaching here at Yogic State. You know who you are as I can feel it in your practice 2020 was about finding our feet and flowing with the tides. Our intention in 2021 is the keep the ball rolling and continue to help raise the vibration in the St George area. We will continue to do this by helping men and women release tension and stress from both MIND & BODY heading to more freedom and liberation Moving forward with love & light
