22.01.2022 The beauty of nature

21.01.2022 As with so many things India, there is no one Diwali festival that is celebrated uniformly all across the subcontinent. Instead, each community in each region... enjoys its own Diwali. For many the festival connects to the Ramayana, in particular to the period after Lord Rama has slain Ravana and he along with Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman are returning to his native Ayodhya and the citizens there light lamps to welcome them home. For others it commemorates the defeat of the demon Narakasura by Lord Krishna, and most Vaishnava traditions also associate the holiday with the emergence of the goddess Lakshmi during the Churning of the Ocean of Milk. For the Jains Diwali marks the anniversary of the liberation of the soul of Mahavira, the twenty-fourth and final Tirthankara of this age, and for the Sikhs Diwali is the day that their sixth guru, Guru Hargobind, was released from prison along with 52 other Hindu kings by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. For many Adivasis (tribals) Diwali is known as the Dandari-Gussadi festival, which marks the commencement of the dance season. And for everyone, even those with no specific affiliation, Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, of good over evil, of knowledge over ignorance, something we all can benefit from during the waning days of 2020. Shubha Dipavali! Diwali Mubarak! Happy Diwali to one and all!

20.01.2022 Our words and actions have to be founded in truth. Truth is an absolute of staggering power. The Vedas say that nothing that is not founded in truth can bear f...ruit or bring a good result. Truth is the soul communicating with conscience. If the conscience transmits this to consciousness and then turns it into action, it is as if our acts become divine, because there is no interruption between the vision of the soul and the execution of its acts. ~BKS IYENGAR~
