17.01.2022 Due to the current social gathering regulations implemented by the Federal and State Government, the Yongala Hall has been ordered closed by The District Council of Peterborough until further notice.
16.01.2022 We thought that the stage floor and supper room landing were due for a bit of TLC. As best as we can determine, the stage floor still has the original timber boards, making them 140 years old and the supper room landing has the original timber boards, which would be around 100 years old. There is still another coat to go but so far the floors are looking great. Thanks Des Cock from Caves Furniture in Peterborough.
15.01.2022 We had a great day for the unveiling of the Heritage Trail. A bit of a windy but sunny and warm day was enjoyed by over 60 people, who were a mix of past and present residents and relatives of pioneering families of the district, as well as people interested in the social history of our little South Australian towns. A big thank you to the office of Federal Member for Grey, Rowan Ramsey for the funding grant that made this Heritage Trail possible. Rowan had a big day of trave...ling to open our walk and that was greatly appreciated by the Hall Committee. Another big thank you goes to the residents of Yongala who have enthusiastically been behind this project. Thank you also to the District Council of Peterborough for allowing the Heritage Trail to happen and for sending workers down to the town for a clean up during the week. Lastly, thank you to our committee members for their hard and tireless work in achieving this legacy for the Yongala and District community. See more

11.01.2022 The Yongala and District Hall Committee Would like to invite everyone to the official unveiling of the Yongala Heritage Trail on the 31st of August at 2:00pm at the Trail start in the Main Street next to the War Memorial, to be followed by a light afternoon tea being served at the Yongala Hall. This project has been many years in the planning and was made possible by a grant we received through the office of the Federal Member for Gray, Rowan Ramsey.
10.01.2022 HERITAGE WALL PLAQUES To: Past or Present Residents, Descendants, Relatives and Friends The Yongala and Districts Hall Committee is making a concerted effort to gather, preserve and display local history while there are still some people around with knowledge and who are willing to contribute. At the Yongala Hall a simple plan of the town is to be placed on display, and the Committee, with your help, participation and information will produce plaques for any and all residents... who have lived and/or worked in the district of Yongala (which takes in a considerable portion of the Hundred of Mannanarie). These plaques, measuring 150mm X 50mm containing 4 lines of information would then be fixed to the map at the appropriate location. In the case of people who lived outside of the town (because there is not enough space to draw the whole district) then these plaques would be placed in the approximate direction from the town. Who is eligible? Anyone who has lived and/or worked in the district at any time, for any time at all and anyone who has had family in the district and would like to commemorate their heritage on this wall. The cost of each plaque is $20, the committee will produce and fix the plaque, there is provision for FAMILY or MULTI GENERATION plaques and the cost of these is based upon the number of names/generations it may contain (max 4). ......................................................................................... Lastly, a big Thank You to our small group of committee members who make a big commitment in time and effort every year to ensure that our Ball is a success.
