22.01.2022 Happy International Volunteer Day to all our incredible volunteers! Relay For Life is empowering event, but it simply would not happen without the amazing people who donate their time and effort to organise and assist with such a huge event. Cancer Council SA has over 1,200 volunteers who make what we do possible, from driving Lodge guests to treatment, restocking hospital brochures, working in retail and making thank you calls to donors, through to running Relay For Life eve...nts, manning Daffodil Day sites in all types of weather and handing out sunscreen to the community. Volunteers and Committee members are the backbone of Relay For Life and from everyone here at Cancer Council SA we thank you so much!

22.01.2022 Here is the Relay For Life Opening Ceremony in full! We apologise for missing parts of the Welcome To Country, we apologise once again!

20.01.2022 For Janine Mercer, life in Kadina was beautifully busy. When she wasnt running the salon, she was spending quality time with her husband Scott, and her two dau...ghters, Amelia and Kiara. At just 42, she decided to get serious about regularly self-checking her breasts. But during her very first self-examination, she found what felt like a squashed sultana. I was praying that I was wrong, or that it was my hormones acting up. I thought it might go away in a couple of days and it would all be over. But it didnt go away. Janine had to have chemotherapy, and she could feel the toll it was taking on her body and her family. I would hit the roof over the smallest things. I felt like I wasnt in controlI didnt feel like I knew who this person was. I went from being an easy-going mum, wife, daughter, sister and friend to someone I barely recognised. Its times like these when cancer nurses can help. They understand that cancer can be confusing, frustrating, and difficult to handle. And the impact spreads much further than the person diagnosed. Thats why cancer nurses are always there on 13 11 20 to answer cancer questions, to connect you to cancer support services, or just to listen. Last year, they helped 5,065 people who reached out for help. Read more about the people whose lives you can change by supporting essential services like 13 11 20 at http://qoo.ly/wp7jq.

12.01.2022 Did you know that SA's first rural Relay For Life was held in Kadina? What is now known as Yorke Peninsula Relay For Life, Kadina Relay saw 500 community member...s rally together at the Kadina and District Recreation Central oval in 2002, to hold South Australia's second Relay For Life at the time. This incredible group of people raised over $100,000 which exceeded expectations and inspired more Relay For Life events in SA.
