16.01.2022 Yorkers Carnival - Message from our President: I would like to welcome everyone to the Yorkers Basketball Carnival. We are very proud of our wonderful sporting facilities in the Copper Coast. Many sports can be played within the Copper Coast utilizing our great facilities, none more evident than the facilities available to us at the Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre.... We are looking forward to hosting the carnival here utilizing our great facilities and I hope you enjoy your time here on the Copper Coast. Participating in sports has a positive influence in many areas. While we know the physical benefits of playing sports or being physically active, there are many other benefits of playing sports. Sport builds character and social skills like teamwork, cooperation and leadership. It also helps us develop the ability to handle winning and losing while being a good sport. Some of us sometimes need more practice at this but by being here and participating I believe you are all winners. Hopefully you will find some time to have a look around the Copper Coast browse through our retail sectors and enjoy the large selection of food outlets within the Copper Coast. If you are looking to do some recovery sessions the beaches at Wallaroo, Moonta Bay and Port Hughes are all safe beaches and ideal for refreshing tired muscles. I would like to wish you all luck. I hope you have success on the court and at all times display good sportsmanship and whether you are playing or watching you treat each other with respect. This includes players, parents, coaches, and officials. 02.01.2022 RESUMING YVBA BASKETBALL - #COVID19 UPDATE We are pleased that with the easing of restrictions that all indoor and outdoor sports and trainings can re-commence. Previously, Copper Coast Sports and Leisure Centre have used the person booking the courts or room as a point of contact if we need to do contact tracing of their attendees. (In the case of training sessions etc). ... This has now changed so that CCSLC can provide the contact tracing details as a centre, to speed up the process should they ever be required to provide details to designated officers if requested to do so. If you are keeping your own records, and still wish to do so you may do this, but CCSLC will still need them to sign in this way as well. It is now a requirement of the centre that every person entering the CCSLC venue MUST sign in at the entry, either using the QR code, or signing the sign in books. These will be found at the tables at the entry of the building. If older children are attending training without a parent, they must be instructed to sign into the books provided, or scan the QR code if they have a phone. Young children under 12 years of age are not permitted to be unsupervised in our centre at any time, the only exception to this is if they are attending a training session and will be under the supervision of a coach for the duration of the training. In this case, parents will need to help the child sign in upon entry. Please assist CCSLC by abiding by the requirements when entering the centre. During busy periods, extra sign in stations will be available. We discourage freely moving in and out of the venue. Please try to keep your movement around the venue as minimal as possible. Instructions are attached to the post below. Please remember to keep a 1.5m distance from others, and abide by the 1 person per 4sqm rule. Numbers of allowed persons are on each court. CCSLC thank you for your cooperation in assisting us with keeping to our Covidsafe plan and contact tracing requirements.
