19.01.2022 Meet our Chief Instructor Kyoshi Branco Bratich Kyoshi (8th Dan) Branco Bratich is the Chief Instructor of Yoseikan-Ryu Karate Australia. He was appointed to this position in 1989 by his Japanese instructor Teru Sano and has been teaching karate since opening his first school in 1978. Branco has had a successful martial art career winning national and international medals as a competitor. As a coach he led national teams to several international medals, including five gol...d medals at the World Championships. In 2017 Branco was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his major contributions to the advancement of karate in Australia. Even more impressive than Branco's numerous accolades and achievements is his unique ability to inspire and maximise the potential of those around him. 13.01.2022 Meet our young and dynamic instructors #2 Sensei Anita Sensei Anita started with Yoseikan-Ryu Karate at eight years old, and is now a 3rd Dan black belt. At this young age she was a Bruce Lee fanatic! Anita has enjoyed teaching karate for the past 13 years. During her competitive career she won several state medals and was the Australian University Champion in 2012. As a coach she has trained competitors who won State Titles and medals at the National Championships. ... Away from karate Anita is a Clinical Psychologist and Manager of a team working with youth and their families in the community. She excels in using her skills to understand, motivate and create strong relationships with our students and is a regular favourite among them.

11.01.2022 Meet our young and dynamic instructors #1 Sensei Jonathan Sensei Jonathan (Jon) is a 2nd Dan Black Belt at Yoseikan-Ryu karate. He started karate at the age of six, with the aim of fighting like the Power Rangers! Jon has an extensive career as a karate competitor, winning several medals when representing Western Australia and Australia at National and International competitions. As well as his competitive achievements, Jon was a State Karate Coach from 2013 2019.... Outside of karate Jon is a Research Scientist and has a PhD in Sport Biomechanics - the study of the mechanics behind human movement. Jon uses this expertise in his teaching, with a strong eye for detail and coaching functional and efficient karate.

04.01.2022 Well done to our young athletes who competed in the State Karate Championships! Alexzander - 3rd place in the boys 9 years and under kata division which had 19 competitors! Alexzander performed Heian Nidan for the first time which looked great out on the tatami. Eva - 4th place in the girls 9 years and under. Eva did three awesome katas in her first experience competing in an elimination event. After Eva's first round win she left us all smiling when she said "This is t...he best day of my life!". Sensei Chloe -2nd and 3rd place in the Cadet female open kumite and her weight division! Chloe has continued her amazing form in tournaments and is getting the rewards for her hard work in training. 03.01.2022 A massive weekend at the mid-year Yoseikan-Ryu gradings! We had our biggest number of students grading to date and a fantastic showing by all. There were some truly special performances by some of the higher grades to get their next kyu grade belt - fantastic to see the grit, determination and confidence in your abilities on display! As always the beginners and early belts were a joy to watch and the concentration and focus displayed at such young ages is seriously impressive.... It is exciting to think of the potential ahead of all of you! #karate #grading #kidskarate
