24.01.2022 And here we are... preparing to open the door to the next chapter of YO-T Yoga Room after the last few months have afforded us a bit of an Alice in Wonderland kind of journey of not quite accessing the doors we wanted/needed or hoped to stumble across in our efforts to keep our yoga together through the opening and closing of this particular door for our classes. We have encountered quite a few changes behind the scenes this year which has impacted our capacity to return to ...things as they were - but I think we all know that’s not really what’s ahead for any of us as we move forward. Our offerings for the remainder of 2020 will be offered through a collection of healing fuelled yoga workshops and course based teachings. Spaces will be limited so when details are provided and registrations open please get in quick to access your place for recalibration into your own next chapter of mindful movement Our Occupational Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy and 1:1 Yoga therapy services continue. Look forward to the real life connecting ... ... .... #occupationaltherapy #yogatherapy #OT #Occupationaltherapyaustralia #WHOT #WhyseeanOT #yogahealing #yogareset #mindset #lovewhatyoudo #Occupationaltherapist #YO-T #yogaandoccupationaltherapy #MHOT #rehabilitation #softtissueOT #craniosacraltherapist

11.01.2022 Small businesses are what breathe colour, creativity and joy into our communities. Every small business started as someone’s dream, and was carved out of hard ...work, loving action, and a heart-centred drive to share. Small businesses must be saved, whether you use their services and buy their goods or not. It’s our responsibility as a community to step up, and here’s why The immediate effects of small business collapse are obvious workers are laid off, as a result less is spent in local economies. This is a self-perpetuating cycle that spreads, wider and wider. Until only the giants are left standing. This is how small business closure acts as an accelerant in economic downturn, slowing recession recovery. Small businesses are quite literally the blood and bones of our economy. However, it’s the long-term impact that’s even more insidious, and utterly soul crushing. A wipe out of entrepreneurs will see a take-over by franchise chains. Every town will look the same with the same 24-hour chemist, the same grocery stores arranged in the exact same manner, the same huge hardware stores, and not much else. Small business collapse means the end to quirky bookstores, no more barista coffee, no international cuisine, the end of hand-picked homewares and pretty florists. It means streets lined with closed signs and abandoned dreams. Small businesses are the reason you can stroll down a high street window shopping, the reason you can enjoy a meal out with family. Without them we are left with huge corporations and empty spaces. Fewer start-ups and growing repetitive chain companies means that the next round of entrepreneurs have nowhere to rise up. This means a less competitive economy, and less colour in our lives. This means greater inequality, and ultimately less freedom. It will fuel industry consolidation which will strip workers’ rights, and consumer power. We cannot let this be the legacy COVID leaves behind. Here are some ways you can support the small businesses in your community; - Engage with them on social media - Send messages of support - Choose them over the big guys - Leave positive reviews - Tell your circles about them - Respect their time and efforts - Cheer them on publicly - Don’t expect things for free - Don’t ask for discounts - Adapt to the changes they’ve been forced to make - Spare them your frustrations We are at a critical point in Victoria where we decide what our future and the future of our children looks like. I want mine filled with people’s dreams turned into realities, with variety, with love, with community. I want high streets dotted with manifestations of imagination, I want excellent food and handcrafted goods. I want each town looking different and I want the next generation to have space to blossom with self-expression and creativity. What do you want?

05.01.2022 SENSORY PROCESSING This is a big topic in child development today and a term we’re more and more familiar with as adults. Sensory processing is an everyday function. ... Do you know your sensory preferences and/or sensitivities? Or perhaps there are some stimuli you avoid all together? The brain takes in, organises, and uses messages received through our body’s receptors. We take in sensory information through our eyes, ears, muscles, joints, skin and inner ears, and we use those sensations we integrate them, modulate them, analyze them and interpret them for immediate and appropriate everyday functioning. Exploring our senses and how they deliver us information about our environment is a really valuable exercise. From there we can develop sensory modulation strategies to cope with stress, anger, anxiety, sleep health, addiction and attention skills. When we start modulating, it can not only be a support to our mental health but a relief to find something that WE CAN DO which can sometimes be easier than focusing only on how to change our thinking. At YO-T our therapists not only support you in learning about your sensory profile and modulation techniques you can apply to manage your mental health, we also draw from yoga philosophies and practices to connect you to your intrinsic self-care potential and the tools you have at the ready to support your wellbeing. 05.01.2022 Restorative Yoga is the most restful, healing form of yoga. The deep rest and regeneration that occurs replenishes a depleted, fatigued and often over alerted nervous system. This can sometimes be obvious in sending and feeling into our bodies. Other times this can be represented in our psycho-spiritual health. Big shifts heroes in our health when we rest deeply like this.
