18.01.2022 COVID-19 MESSAGE TO OUR CLIENTS Dear customers and friends, To reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 we have decided to temporarily CLOSE in the interests of safety for you, our staff and the community.... We understand that vision issues dont stop just because theres a virus around, so we are available on a limited basis for emergency spectacle repairs/replacements, contact lens orders, and emergency eye examinations. Please leave a message on 02 9233 6299 or call me on 0402 830 563 to find out when we can be in the practice, or for advice on an urgent issue. If you need contact lenses re-ordered, we can probably do that remotely, please either phone or e-mail [email protected] If your glasses need major repair (soldering, drilling etc), we recommend you go to framecareaustralia.com.au and print the glasses repair form, you can access this service for the same price that we can. If you have a medical eye problem or an injury, we recommend you phone either your GP, or the Eye Hospital on 9382 7111 before going to their clinic. Routine eye examinations are now on hold until the rate of infection of COVID-19 is slowed. If you have glasses or contact lenses waiting for collection, please conact us to arrange payment and postage. We will be in touch when we are able to reopen (with much rejoicing I might add), and you are welcome to contact me with any concerns in the meantime. We are trying to help the community reduce the spread on COVID-19 so our healthcare system is not overwhelmed. Stay safe and look after others by staying at home as much as possible. Cathy and Vanessa

18.01.2022 I think this is a pretty balanced article. Not everyone needs a blue light filter on their glasses, but well normally talk about it if someone spends loooooong hours using digital screens, finds their vision uncomfortable, or has a family history of macular degeneration. Overall our patients say the extra coating improves comfort at work, but, most of your blue light exposure is from the sun, and you still need to turn your phone off to get to sleep, so it wont fix everything! https://www.smh.com.au//should-you-add-a-blue-light-filter

18.01.2022 Somewhere at a supposedly secure data centre, this little guy is having a go at our website server. We promise it is being worked on, but until the gremlins are back in their box and our e-mail is working, please message us here.

18.01.2022 The packaging can be recycled, but what do you do with the contact lenses when youre finished with them? https://www.sbs.com.au//why-you-should-never-flush-your-co

17.01.2022 For the month of June, You & Eye Optical will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am-5pm. Please phone us for an appointment, the online booking system will be back to normal soon. 17.01.2022 Thank you for your feedback (by the way its time to have your eyes tested...) ;)

16.01.2022 A cute Google animation today, celebrating the birthday of French ophthalmologist Ferdinand Monoyer who designed the Monoyer chart for testing visual acuity.

16.01.2022 You & Eye Optical will be closed for a holiday break from close of business on Christmas Eve and will reopen on Monday 13th January 2020. 15.01.2022 Have you been caught up in the rush to test your vision with the red dot? In the best viral vision check weve seen for a while, this red dot contains an image that tests your sensitivity to contrast. When you read print, or look at a standard eye exam chart, the text is usually black on white, the highest contrast you can get, so it gives you the best result. However, as the contrast decreases, things are more difficult to see. Imagine writing printed in light grey on white, or different shades of brown and beige; not so easy to see now? 10.01.2022 Style, fit and comfort are the highest priority for our fitting experts at You & Eye Optical. We recommend not only which frames suit you, but also your prescription, taking into account the frame size and shape, the style of the nosebridge, length of the temples and construction of the frame. For more information on finding the perfect frame, click:... http://www.youandeye.com.au/how-expert-advice-can-help-cho/ See more

10.01.2022 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our friends! You & Eye Optical will be closed for holidays until Wednesday 11th January. Hope everyone has a wonderful 2017!

09.01.2022 Do you feel eyestrain when using a computer screen? Before you fill your next prescription it would be a good idea to stop and think about how versatile you need your glasses to be. Its likely that you have a standard prescription for reading and you use it for your computer monitor, your handheld device, reading a book and probably even the specials board in your favourite restaurant. If so, you may be experiencing eye strain without knowing it. Read more here: https://www.youandeye.com.au/computer-glasses-designed-to-/

08.01.2022 So, buying contact lenses online is one thing, and sometimes people do that, and were not really angry, I promise. But we ARE angry when you dont at least get your eyes examined regularly. This is a bit extreme, 27 contact lenses "lost" in one eye. They arent really lost, of course, and would easily have been seen at a routine contact lens check-up, along with other changes to the eye caused by the lens, or just eye health in general. Have an eye exam, its less painful than 27 mucous-coated lenses stuck in your eye, seriously.

07.01.2022 Salmon with spinach and carrot salad, anyone?

06.01.2022 Very clever! Its all about perspective.

06.01.2022 Thinking of heading outdoors this summer? Think about some polarised lenses to reduce glare and protect your eyes from sun damage! Available in single vision and multifocal prescriptions. 05.01.2022 One of our suppliers, Murray the mad Irishman from eyesaBOve, has been watching too many 80s brat pack movies! Its just lucky he designs great sunglasses too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87cQ4sc0pg8&feature=youtu.be

05.01.2022 Well, thats one way of avoiding the problem of how to address the mail. There ARE two of us, but of course you would never send something to the "new Cathy" or even worse, the "old Cathy", would you? Not if you wanted anything done, that is.

05.01.2022 Did you get our newsletter? You can read it here, or let us know and well put you on the e-mail list for next time!

04.01.2022 Happy Valentines Day!

04.01.2022 ... and, were back! Well actually we were back yesterday, but took most of the day to sort through e-mail messages, deliveries and voicemail. In hindsight, we could have set an out-of-office e-mail, but then I would have had to choose from these brilliant options. As someone who, ahem, sometimes forgets to answer e-mails, I think #14 has my vote. Happy New Year everyone, come and have an eye exam! http://blog.hubspot.com//hilarious-out-of-office-email-aut

04.01.2022 Dear customers and friends, What a strange few weeks it has been! I hope that since my last post everyone has been healthy and safe, and hopefully found some time for relaxation and family. Of course some of you never left the "normal" world or have been working harder than ever, either way Australia as a whole seems to have done well so far, and with the easing of some restrictions we have decided to slowly reopen the practice.... We understand that not everyone is ready for their previous schedule yet, or are not in the city as often as before. We expect the CBD will take a while to build up to its usual bustle, so if you need to postpone a routine appointment, just let us know and we can remind you later. This week You & Eye Optical will be open Monday and Wednesday from 10am to 5pm. If its busy we may add another day later in the week, and next week similarly well be in the practice two or three days depending on demand. We ask that you phone or e-mail us for appointments for the moment, as we are spacing out bookings to limit the number of people in the store at one time. Online bookings will be back soon! We will be avoiding any procedures that are done at close distance unless they are really necessary. On that point, eye health and medical problems happen regardless of social distancing rules, and if you are concerned about your vision at all, please call or e-mail us for advice (at no charge) before delaying eye care, we dont want an increase in preventable eye disease just because everyones work schedule is a bit crazy. If you need contact lenses re-ordered, we can still do that remotely and have them sent straight to you, please either phone or e-mail [email protected] We have increased our usual infection control procedures to keep everyone safe, and of course if you have any cold or flu symptoms, or have travelled and are supposed to be isolating, we ask that you ring us for advice rather than come in. Look after yourselves and well see you soon! Cathy and Vanessa

03.01.2022 If you spend most of your day staring into a computer monitor at work and at home, you probably get eye strain. It’s unavoidable in our digital age, but you can do things to lessen the impact of repeated computer use. Let’s look at the causes of computer screen eye strain and what you can do to alleviate the symptoms. https://www.youandeye.com.au/reducing-eye-strain-when-usin/

03.01.2022 Were awesome, just ask us, I mean, ask anyone!

01.01.2022 Google knows everything, it has reminded us again today that the business is having a birthday. Now You & Eye Optical is old enough to have a drink to its own success, Im not sure if thats amazing or just scary!
