They have nursed amazing, soaked in a nice herbal bath, and are relaxing with mommy. In so many aspects of our lives we are being encouraged to become more aware, more mindful, more educated & more conscious from what we eat, how we respond, how we think about thing, to pregnancy and birth . Often though, when it comes to getting pregnant the best advice people share is have lots of sex and don't tell anyone you're pregnant until about 12 weeks . BUT what if the experience of getting pregnant was reframed to the perfect opportunity to understand, connect and trust our bodies what if the experience of getting pregnant gives you the chance to really connect with how special bringing a new life into this world really is? . This is why I love the term conscious conception and am passionate about supporting all women to have the knowledge, skills and inspiration to approach getting pregnant with excitement and enthusiasm. 19.01.2022 "This is a very small study but has important ramifications. The gut and upper respiratory tract of a newborn is a mostly sterile Petri dish waiting to be colonized. All mammals instinctively know this and the best bacteria are ones from their mother and their normal environment. Nature isn't stupid. But often well-meaning physicians and policy makers are. Further evidence that they just don't understand normal mammalian birth is their quote, "revamping the hospital environme...nt for non-high-risk births, so it more closely approximates home conditions, may be beneficial". How would they do that? Have cats and dogs and dust and dirty clothes and family members cooking, laying around and walking in and out barefoot for weeks ahead of the birth in the labor suite? Hospital policies and cleaning and sterilization chemicals are important to prevent the spread of disease in sick people. Laboring women are not the same as sick people! Hospital births are necessary at times but they can't be made into home environments simply by adding some curtains and nice flooring. Let's just admit that there are risks to hospital births, too. 04.01.2022 The Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital has changed their policy regarding birth photography. They have confirmed that photography is permitted BEFORE and AFTER the birth but NO photography of the actual birth is allowed, by anyone. I cherish my birth photos and am so grateful I had the opportunity for them to be taken and for future mothers to have this taken away is so backwards. Sign and share around

01.01.2022 I joke sometimes that my cycle is my favorite TV show. I can’t stop watching it, even when the plot is as repetitive as an episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Practicing fertility awareness and becoming a parent has made me gentler with others and with myself. I think about the fear that so many of us carry around the fear of getting pregnant or never getting pregnant; the judgments of family and friends about our life choices. Fertility awareness taught me that I should trust myself, even when it scares me. I know my body.
