25.01.2022 Name: Scott Druett Nickname: Skippa, The Wrecker When did you start playing cricket: As soon as I could. Think I was about 9. Favourite past and present player: Dean Jones was my favourite growing up. Nowadays I only watch Test Cricket to see how Nath is going. Proudest moment: First century against the Dragons at Cranfield and triple hat-trick in Canberra (even though we lost the game)... Best player you have played with or against: Didn’t play a lot with Nath so I would have to say Dean Schofield. Awesome to play with Dean but not so much fun playing against him. Also a bloke by the name of Tim Plumridge in Canberra. Played with a lot of very talented cricketers over the years. Best sledge you have heard: I think I was about 15 or 16 playing against Carl Daniels. Played and missed him a few times at Gus 1 when he told me he had seen better batters in a fish shop. Probably not the best but one that stuck with me. Sum up your game in 3 words: Ugly but effective Best advice you have ever been given: You’re not Brett Lee so stop trying to bowl half trackers. 19.01.2022 Name: Darren Cooke Nickname: Cookie, Cowboy, Steven Seagal. First played: As a young bloke would’ve been around 1978 or so, started playing A Grade in Young in 1985 with Blues, winning the comp that year.... Favourite player past and present: Loved Viv Richards and Allan Border back in the day, present day hard to go past Steve Smith. Proudest moment: Being a member of Young’s 1995/96 Lachlan Valley premiership and 15 x Grinsted Cup winning team. A team full of great cricketers, champion blokes on and off the field and some of the loosest bus trips of my life! Best player I played with or against? The Freak Andrew Johnson was an amazing teammate, would bowl all day for you and as far as playing against him went, he was just so accurate and gave you nothing. And he knew his way around a schooner at the end of a day’s play. Still does. Best sledge: Opening the batting with the great Chris Corbett against Parkes in a semi final of LVCC one year I’d been aggressively playing and missing against Phil Dunford for a few overs. After one particularly extravagant effort he screamed down the pitch you’re nothing but a cowboy! When I charged him as he was delivering the next ball and smacked him over cover for 4 Corbo yelled out at the top of his lungs from the non-striker’s end YEEEEEE - HAAAAAA!!!! Sum up my game in 3 words: Have a crack. Best piece of advice: It’s not the size of the dog in the fight it’s the size of the fight in the dog. It works on several levels.
16.01.2022 I have assembled 28 of the most talented and influential cricketers from around this area to play on the 24th of January. Teams will be announced early in the new year. Between now and then I hope to post a player profile of some (hopefully all) players involved with an old cricket photo they could dig up.

Best player I’ve played against or with: Played 1 game with Nathan Lyon but I got a duck.. still counts! Caught a lot of good cricketers towards the end of their playing days and Dean Schofield stands out. He was my first rep captain but ruthless when you played against him Best sledge.. again Dean Schofield, I charged him once and he fielded the ball in his follow through and throw it at me and said you're not Matthew Hayden back in your crease My game in 3 words.. chirpy, aggressive, competitive Best advice: my first coach told us when I first started playing if you don’t like fielding your playing the wrong game, another reason I wanted to keep See more
