22.01.2022 The children at Young Academics Elderslie were able to reinforce the lifelong concept that exercise is fun as they participated in the Happy Feet Fitness physical education program. The super hero class allows the children to role play, exploring the fun of superpowers and using them to help others whilst moving their bodies to perform yoga positions, strengthening their coordination and balance. 22.01.2022 Welcome to Pre-School One Art Show Young Academics Early Learning Centre was proud to host its second Annual Art Show - What Artist’s Do. In conjunction with #Sydney Art Month, the children and educators expressed their creativity in a number of individual and group collaborative artworks. This helped us teach the littles to recognise and appreciate art in all it's forms! Here's a little preview of our exciting art collection.

21.01.2022 At Young Academics Early Learning Centre we foster our link to our community with a range of different celebrations throughout the year, inviting mums, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles to spend time engaging in play-based learning with our children.

20.01.2022 What a wonderful time it was during Book Week at Young Academics Early Learning Centre Elderslie! Dressing up as characters form their favourite story books, the children shared their love of literacy with their peers and educators. Book Week provides the children with the opportunities to further explore text, creativity and storytelling in a fun and interactive way. During the week, the children and their educators read many different book titles in large and small group experiences. At Young Academics, we believe in the value of iteracy and reading in early childhood as a crucial step to development, including social and emotional wellbeing; as well as cognitive and verbal development.

18.01.2022 Clean Up Australia at Young Academics Early Learning Centre Our toddlers and preschoolers worked together to do their bit to clean up Australia, furthering their understanding of the world around them and playing their part as Eco Warriors.



18.01.2022 National Simultaneous Storytime across Young Academics centres was very exciting, with over 1,138,000 schools and childcare centres all over the world promoting the value of reading and literacy, at the same time. The children enjoyed listening to stories of different genres while sparking their imagination and creativity. By facilitating this, we aim to: - promote the value of reading and literacy... - promote the value and fun of books - promote an Australian writer and publisher - promote storytime activities in public libraries and communities around the country - provide opportunities to involve parents, grandparents, the media and others to participate in and enjoy the occasion. 16.01.2022 We had a blast enjoying our outer space experience at Young Academics Early Learning Centre, as our Preschoolers dressed up and got a feel for what it is like to be an astronaut Putting their gross motor skills to the test, the little ones manoeuvred their way around the astronaut training course. This exercise played on skills including balance and stability, whole body co-ordination, spatial awareness, weight shift and weight bearing and the development of muscle strength. We hope everyone had a blast (pun intended )

15.01.2022 #throwback to Science Week at Young Academics Early Learning Centre Elderslie, where this year’s theme was Into the Blue! Using science experiments and creative arts, the children explored ways in which they can help to conserve our deep blue oceans and sea life. Science activities provide children with opportunities to develop and practice many different skills and attributes. These include communication skills, collaborative skills, teamwork and perseverance, as well as analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills. Many of the experiences the children participated in over the week further developed on their social and emotional understanding, allowing them to determine how their actions can influence the world in which they live.

14.01.2022 Every child is an artist.- Picasso This week at #Elderslie, our Preschool children have thoroughly enjoyed engaging in our art curriculum, exploring our theme Artists From Around the World. The children used bold colours and shapes to recreate their own self-portraits - Picasso style - furthering their understanding of their own identity and the world around them. We can’t wait to see what else they can create

13.01.2022 Celebrating L.O.V.E. at Young Academics Early Learning Centre #Elderslie sure was extra special This Valentine's Day, love came in all forms. The celebration was included in every aspect of our intentional teaching program as our Preschoolers used their fine motor and mathematical skills, matching heart-shaped buttons, colouring, cooking and more. ... Our parents were treated to chocolates and crafty gifts the kids made as a result of their creativity and collaboration.



13.01.2022 As part of our Transition to School program at Young Academics Early Learning Centre, our preschoolers learnt about symmetry, through art. The children observed a provocation picture of trees reflected in a pond before discussing how this art looked symmetrical and thought of different ways we could recreate it. This art project enabled children to explore the concept of flip/reflection symmetry, keeping them amazed to see the imprinted effect of folder paper.

13.01.2022 This month the children have been exploring a range of creative and messy play activities, like line markings using free hand techniques. Sensory exportation is a vital part of a baby’s development and learning. This experience allows babies to extend on their sense of touch, sight and taste as they use their fingers to make lines, squiggles and zig zags in the edible paint.

12.01.2022 Our Preschool Educators were very proud to be invited to our community of schools - school readiness evening. It was a great opportunity to support our families and liaise with kindergarten teachers, speech therapists and occupational therapists ensuring our children’s smooth transition to Big School. We cant wait to visit the schools as part of our out and about program later in the year.

12.01.2022 Our little scientists enjoyed participating in hands-on learning as they combined food colouring and bicarb soda to see an exciting chemical reaction - in action! They excitedly watched on s the ingredients bubbled, while building on their love of learning.

11.01.2022 Our intentional teaching program here at Young Academics #Elderslie ensures that our toddlers develop a love of learning through literacy.

10.01.2022 The Toddlers were very excited to create their own birds in the finger gym using play dough and feathers. During this process they strengthened their fine motor manipulation skills as well as exploring colour and colour matching.

10.01.2022 This #AnzacDay, the staff and children at Young Academics Early Learning Centre honour and recognise the troops who serve our country by providing Anzac care packages that we put together ourselves. These packages include the children’s very own artwork and hand-written letters, as well as Australian food items kindly donated. These care packages were sent to the troops deployed on 9 separate operations overseas. It is our way of extending our gratitude to these brave individuals, as well as teaching our little ones about their courage and heroism.

10.01.2022 Our toddlers at Elderslie enjoyed a special visit from Uncle Greg who helped further their understanding of the Indigenous culture as they explored different indigenous musical instruments such as the didgeridoo. They also engaged in a collaborative artwork of a marine turtle. Great work kids The Toddlers were very excited to create their own birds in the finger gym using play dough and feathers. 10.01.2022 Today at Young Academics Early Learning Centre, the children participated in a very fun program with Grow Fit. Using their imagination and role play skills to travel to a galaxy far far away, the program encouraged them to apply their gross motor muscles, balance and coordination to transform their bodies into rocket ships. They had the chance to (metaphorically):... blast into space land first on Mars, then travel to Saturn use their fast feet to travel because it was so hot! board the rocket ship again to make it back home See more

10.01.2022 During the week the children participated in a variety of different experiences to extend on their knowledge and practices of healthy teeth and gums. Using a variety of differnt rescources, the children learnt about keeping teeth and mouths healthy, as well as which foods support oral hygiene. As part of our Transition to School Wellbeing Program, this is also an example of one activity that encourages children to further develop their self help skills.

10.01.2022 Last week at Young Academics Early Learning Centre, our Preschoolers engaged in an interactive, hands-on STEM experiment, as part of our outdoor classroom program. The Educators guided the children to use their fine and gross motor skills as they twisted the handle of this gadget, observing the flow of water.

10.01.2022 The children at Young Academics Early Learning Centre were very excited to have a visit from the #Narellan Fire Brigade to extend their understanding of community helpers. The children were able to learn what to do in an emergency involving fire and were able to investigate all the equipment they use. Thank you Fire and Rescue NSW for another visit to Young Academics.

09.01.2022 This week at Young Academics Early Learning Centre #Elderslie, we were exploring the topic of feelings and emotions, helping the little ones recognise how they feel and the importance of wellbeing. Using a mirror, the children focused on their reflections and facial features while expressing different ways they felt such as happy, sad and surprised. Guiding children to manage and self-regulate emotions helps them to have a strong sense of wellbeing. To extend on this experience, the children were provided with some markers to draw and outline their facial features on the mirror. While participating in this experience, the children and their educators continue to establish and maintain trusting and respectful relationships.

08.01.2022 Elderslie’s babies were full of giggles and smiles while crawling and exploring the rainbow tunnel . Crawling is a vital stage in a baby’s development and its effects can be seen as children grow and develop. While participating in this experience the babies were further developing their physical development, Brain development, Vision, Coordination, Balance and Self-confidence.

08.01.2022 At Young Academics #Elderslie our educators pride themselves on their educational and innovative programs. Today the toddlers explored shapes and all different colours, by providing them with a direction indicator maze. They were encouraged to use their thinking skills and problem-solving abilities to reach the end of the maze.

07.01.2022 This month, our preschool children have been exploring the letters V, W, X, Y and Z as part of our Transition to School Program. While engaged in this writing experience, the children were further developing their fine motor movement and pencil control as they wrote the letters in coloured rice. This experience also fosters their letter recognition and letter formation skills, which are an important step in developing early literacy skills.

06.01.2022 At Young Academics Early Learning Centre we value the importance of engaging children in literacy through storytelling. Recently, we were excited to take part in National Simultaneous Storytime, conducted by Australian Library and Information Association. The educators and children took time this morning to break from their everyday routine to read the book Alpacas With Maracas. After the reading, the children took part in extension activities such as music & movement, arts & craft and through technology, they were able to experience the book being read through sign language.

06.01.2022 This month the children at Young Academics Elderslie have enjoyed investigating their little scientists topic of optics. Optics is a great way for the children to explore the optical phenomena and investigate light, colour and vision more closely.

Incorporating eco-friendly education and practices into our daily routines is key, fostering habits within the Centre and across the community. This week, our preschool children have been learning about the pollution in our waterways and enjoyed expanding their comprehension of this topic through "small world play." Using fine motor skills, they collected all the rubbish from the ocean and placed it in the bin

04.01.2022 This year on Red Nose Day at Young Academics Early Learning Centre our little ones too part in a variety of interactive experiences to help raise awareness around SIDS and safe sleeping amongst infants and young children. As a vital part of our care and commitment towards the local community, we believe in the value and importance of taking part in these initiatives and encouraging local families to do so as well.

01.01.2022 At Young Academics Early Learning Centre we follow through with the children’s interests in STEM-focused opportunities by implementing playful, inquiry-based learning activities. The toddlers put these skills into practice by hypothesising and experimenting how to create a bubble wand together out of pipe cleaners. The educators scaffolded their learning by asking open-ended questions and encouraging the children’s cognitive and creative abilities. The children used their thinking strategies and problem-solving skills to come up with a solution to turn the pipe cleaners from straight pipe cleaner to a circular wand. This hands-on learning experience and exploring through trial & error was a great way to engage and inspire our bright young minds
