24.01.2022 Do you know about the Montessori three-period lesson? I found this nice diagram on Pinterest to help explain it. The three-period lesson is used throughout the classroom to teach new vocabulary to children. It can be used for just about anything that has its own name! This includes the teaching of letters and numbers. Generally, the names of only two to three things are taught at one time. The second period may not be achieved in one sitting - sometimes not even in multiple sittings. You don’t progress to the third period unless the child appears confident with the second. Teachers must show patience and incorporate some fun. After all, learning should be enjoyable!

20.01.2022 A big thank you to our local dentists Dr Peter and Kristy, from DC Dental Highland Park, for visiting us this morning. We learnt all about how important it is to clean our teeth at least twice each day, how to clean our teeth well and which foods and drinks are good and bad for teeth... Thank you for reading and then donating this big book to help us remember these important messages! We especially enjoyed using the ‘Piksters Plaque Glo’ toothpaste and light on our very brave volunteer, Master E, to help see how good his tooth brushing was! (The other children had the opportunity to use it when brushing their teeth after lunch). The children also loved their presents - it’s amazing how exciting a new toothbrush and toothpaste can be .

20.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! We hope you enjoy your long Easter weekend! We look forward to hearing the children’s Easter stories next week

12.01.2022 Happy birthday Miss E ! We hope you had a great day today! We are so proud of all you’ve learnt over this past year and all the friends you have made! You are growing up so quickly! We are looking forward to seeing you as a big four year old tomorrow!

10.01.2022 A big thank you to Daryl from the RSPCA for coming in yesterday to teach the children about what the RSPCA does, how we can fulfil the needs of our pets and when and how to safely approach dogs that we don’t know. Daryl was kind and engaging and the children enjoyed having him. They also have a better understanding around why we are currently helping to raise money for the RSPCA. Thanks, Daryl! #rspcaqld #preventanimalcruelty #kidsandpets
