25.01.2022 There will be no tricks but plenty of treats at the Farmers' market this Saturday! Come and see all the different stalls to tempt you!

24.01.2022 Something special at the market today - Will Forge blacksmithing on site! Though the windy weather was against him he powered on, to the delight of the onlookers. To see things handmade before your eyes using a craft seldom seen in this era is quite a treat. You and I can support Will by buying his pieces or commissioning new pieces, to keep his dream alive and to help keep this craft alive in our modern world. If not for people like Will, art-forms like this get lost and forgotten. #blacksmith #hilltopsregion #farmersmarket #youngandregionfarmersmarket

24.01.2022 As regular market goers know Steve's beloved coffee machine seized up a couple of markets ago. If he can get it going again our next market (Saturday the 19th of Sept) will be his last. So sadly we say farewell Steve and Erin (the talented baker behind the sour dough and pizza), wishing you all the best for your next chapter So we are currently looking for a new coffee cart to start ASAP! Expressions of interest can be made by email: [email protected], leave a message or comment through this page or speak directly with a stallholder. Don't miss this opportunity!

24.01.2022 With lengthening days and warming weather, imagine if you could do your shopping whilst being out in the sun enjoying nature at its best.... Well, you’re in luck! This Saturday morning you can browse the wares of local producers and mingle with like-minded town’s-folk whilst enjoying the sun’s dappled rays beneath the mighty Plane trees of Anderson Park. There will be fruit and veg, wether you want it ready to eat now or you’d prefer to take them home and grow them yourself, or maybe even have them pre made into your favourite jams and spreads. There’s also recycled timber wares, forged metal items, leather goods and hand spun clothing, as well as plants, honey, soaps, eggs, hot food, coffee and so much more. #hilltopsregion #farmersmarket @ Hilltops Region

22.01.2022 Just two stalls remaining at the market now, braving the weather! But really... farm fresh vegies and locally roasted coffee is all you need, right? Get down quick to catch them!

22.01.2022 Come and enjoy a chilly start to the weekend this Saturday, 9-12 at Anderson Park for the Young and Region Farmers’ Market, where the produce is as fresh as the morning air. Grab a warm bite and a hot beverage to accompany you as you peruse the local goods that are on offer. This week sees the return of even more of our regulars to the market scene, so take advantage of the variety while you can, because who knows what tomorrow may bring. For your safety we have a COVID policy in place so please be aware of social distancing and good hygiene practices and let’s keep the wheels of commonsense turning.

22.01.2022 With the modern supermarket offering a diverse and abundant choice of fruit and vegetables all year around it is easy to see how seasonality can be forgotten. Eating with the season makes sense for both your tastebuds and hip pocket. Take a peek at the list below for what is in season in our area now

21.01.2022 We will once again be in town tomorrow morning 1130am with beautiful fresh bunches of organically grown produce. Picked mere hours before pick up you won't find... fresher veggies, more nutrionally dense veggies than these beauties. Spinach, rainbow chard, kale, radish, salad mix, baby spinach, carrots, baby bok choi available. $3 a bag/bunch. We will also have limited bunches of beetroot. First in first served! Please private message your order. See more

21.01.2022 So sorry to all the sourdough lovers out there. No bread at Young and Region Farmers’ Market this week because the baker is injured.

21.01.2022 After a refreshing soaking of rain for the district, why not soak yourself in some of the great fresh products and ideas that the Young and Regional Farmers’ Market has to offer. As the rain brings growth to the land, so the cooler weather has brought growth to the market with a record number of stalls ready to spruik their wares. If you’re looking to tantalise the taste buds, we’ve got plenty of your breakfast favourites (and also a few sweet indulgences) or if you prefer to... make your own creations we have the goods, including fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs, garlic, olive oil, honey and preserves. If it’s your other senses you want to indulge then check out the knitted, the scented, the crafted, the therapeutic and the wonderful sounds of one of the best local musicians. And if you’re thinking now is the time to get back in the garden, why not start with locally grown seedlings, succulents, bulbs and shrubs, as well as both timber and metal creations, for indoors and out. And then there’s so much more. But rather than ruining the surprise, why not get down to Anderson Park Saturday morning, 9am-12pm and see it, taste it, smell it and experience the best of the district for yourself.

21.01.2022 There has been an increase of people getting back into vegetable gardening as a result of having extra time at home and, for some, a desire for local food security (not to mention all the usual great reasons like more nutrient-dense food, less food miles, money saving, mental health benefits, etc etc). As a result, buying seeds and seedlings has become somewhat difficult as they fly off the shelves so fast! But fear not - because Geoff Ray from Castleray Produce, a market reg...ular, has lots of locally grown stock right now. What better time to garden then after this wonderful rain? Give him a call on 0402121748 to make arrangements. Seedling plugs 50c each - includes Lettuce, Onions, Cabbage, Beetroot, Chives. Pots $3 each (or 2 for $5) - Silverbeet, English Spinach, Broad Beans, Leeks, Thyme, Coriander, Shallots, Mizuna, Parsley. Fig trees, Rhubarb plants - $10 each. Rhubarb bunch - $5 each. Will deliver orders over $20 in Young.

20.01.2022 This Saturday morning is looking to be a cracker of a Spring morning for Young and Region Farmers’ Market. With temperatures in the mid 20’s and that wretched wind winding itself back for the meanwhile, you can enjoy browsing the many good things the town’s small-time producers have to offer, all under the boughs of the mighty Plane trees at Anderson Park. We have a huge line up of stall holders, including the debut of local Gourmet Vege and Herb producers, Steve and Kelly Hegyi, and with plenty of other local favourites, fresh food and coffee, and entertainment by father and daughter duo, Mark and Aylie Corkery - this is a morning not to be missed. Market opens at 9am and continues through to 1pm.

20.01.2022 Well, Christmas is upon us and what better present to buy for the visiting relatives than something showing off the local area - produce and other goodies from your local farmers’ market! It’s going to be a stinker of a day so get down early before the good stuff (and stall holders) all melt. Market starts at 9 and ends at 1, or until we’ve melted away. No doubt the feature of the day (besides the fresh produce) will be Bernadette and her icy cold snow cones, and we’ll even h...ave ice cubes on standby to drop in your coffees. Hope to see you there (early) and have a locally Merry Christmas!

20.01.2022 Come and see the great variety that we will have at the Farmers' Market this Saturday, 7th November, from 9-12 at Anderson Park. The popular Doughlicious donuts will be back. All your favourites and some new stalls too. #youngandregionfarmersmarket #farmersmarket #hilltopsregion #supportlocal #farmfresh #buildingconnections

20.01.2022 What a great Spring market today! So many people turned out to sell and to buy and to linger and chat and sit and play and lay on the grass reading - wonderful community atmosphere! #farmersmarket #hilltopsregion #buyfromthebush

19.01.2022 We would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2021. We would also like to thank everyone for their amazing support over this challenging year which has seen our market grow considerably. We will be back bigger and better on Saturday 16th January and look forward to seeing you all then. Take care and stay safe.

Other regular stalls include Lockwood, Castlray, Cathy from Wombat, the Lions Club and more. #localproduce #knowyourfarmer #farmersmarket #hilltopsregion #youngandregionfarmersmarket #supportlocal #buildingconnections

18.01.2022 With daylight savings only hours away, come down to the Young & Region Farmers’ Market early on Saturday before the cows go crazy and the curtains start to fade. There will be plenty to see and do with food and stalls and so much more! Come down and have a bite to eat from the Lions Club morning BBQ or Young & Ivy’s Korean and Taiwanese, and wash it down with a coffee from Steve. Or if you prefer to take away, pick up a little something from Pastor’s Pleasure or grab one of E...rin’s sourdough loaves and top it with Bev’s range of jams and sauces, or honey from Alan, or high protein farm fresh eggs from Bernie (and suck on a snow cone for the ride home), with a side of fresh produce from Lani and Greg. Feeling like getting a little productive yourself? There will also be plenty of potted greenery for your afternoon gardening (ob)session and you can have a chat to the folk from the Young Garden Club who will help you to sort out what to plant where. Anderson Park, 9 til 1 - see you there! @ Hilltops Region

18.01.2022 With Spring just around the corner this guide may come in handy. If you have always wanted to start a veggie patch but are unsure of how this is a good place to start. Greg and Lani from Weemala/Gumtree, Geoff and Kerry from Castleray produce or the Cartwrights should also have some tips so hit them up!

17.01.2022 Why not come and checkout some of the crafts of yesteryear this Saturday at our local market. Sue and Lilla will be spinning a few yarns with their knitted products, Frank has had the hide to come along and display all his leather wares, and Will, the local blacksmith, will be putting all things metal under the hammer with his portable forge. Being the Hilltops Food and Wine Weekend, what better time to come and speak face to face with the locals who grow and make the Hilltops food and wine themselves! Be it honey, eggs, fruit, vegetables, wine, cake, bread, coffee or hot food to eat on the spot for breakfast or lunch - there is certainly something for everyone. But don’t just take our word for it - get down to Anderson Park and see it for yourselves, this Saturday, 9am-1pm.

17.01.2022 Hello local friends and family. I will be in town this SATURDAY (instead of Sunday) at 1130am with our organically grown local produce. 15.01.2022 Deeper into winter we go, but you will be warmed up on Saturday morning at Anderson Park by some steaming Taiwanese Dumplings and Gua Boa from Young and Ivy's Multicultural Food stall! Last market they had to cancel at the 11th hour for reasons out of their control, but they will be back this week and with a very special offer. 13.01.2022 What a beautiful morning for a market. So warm that Geoff snuck into ‘yarn central’ for a break from the sun, leisurely sitting between the two hard working wool and yarn specialists, Sue and Lilla, spinning and combing fibres to make more beautiful natural fibre clothing. A thorn between two roses??

10.01.2022 Do you shop at your local farmers' market? 20 years ago, Australia's first farmers' market began trading in Victoria's Yarra Valley and in north Sydney. Now, there are about 200 markets around the country. Watch the full story this Sunday at 12.30 on ABC TV or iview.

10.01.2022 Food, glorious food! With Ellie May back with her healthy treats this week, Young and Ivy cooking up a multicultural storm as usual, the Lions Club with their tasty BBQ, coffee and sourdough from Crust and Crema, chemical free fresh veg and fruit from Gumtree Nursery, and various other produce and baked goods on offer (not to mention all the wonderful non-edible products!) you can see why our market is growing in stall holders AND customers each month. Don’t let the wind deter you! Come to Anderson Park between 9 and 1 on Saturday to try the glorious food and pick up some great locally grown or made goods.

10.01.2022 Our first market for 2021 is this Saturday, 16th January from 9-12pm in Anderson Park. You will find plenty of local fresh produce including tomatoes, zucchinis, cucumbers, beetroot, potatoes and plums. We have a new stall selling White Sussex chickens and Gouldian finches. Also new are dolls clothes and felt cat caves. Look forward to seeing everyone after the Christmas break.

10.01.2022 WE ARE BACK!!! But not quite as you remember it. We are thrilled to finally be able to open the Young and Region Farmers' Market back up to the public again! Th...ere are stallholders bursting with fresh produce who have been waiting excitedly for this moment! But as with everything else at the moment, there are guidelines to follow and your common sense and sensible behaviour in keeping social distancing will be greatly appreciated. As per regulations, we will only be reopening the Market to stalls selling food and beverages, and there will be no tables set out for sitting and socialising. This means the number of stalls will be much less than we were use to, but if we want this Market to recover it is important that we support it in these hard times. So save the date for this Saturday, 6th June and then for every 1st and 3rd Saturday per month. More details will follow about what will be on offer this week. Are you as excited as we are??

09.01.2022 Come and experience the colour and vibrancy of the market for yourself. See you tomorrow from 9am-12pm at Anderson Park. #youngandregionfarmersmarket #farmersmarket #hilltopsregion #supportlocal #farmfresh #buildingconnections

04.01.2022 It looks like Saturday is going to be a crazy day weather wise but local producers are determined to bring you their offerings of fresh and hand-made products. It could be a short morning so get in early, before the winds pick up and the mercury gets too high, and support the locals, like Sumane and Rohini who have their new season garlic on offer this week! Sumane and Rohini Iyer have been growing and selling chemical free garlic for 6 years in Young. They present six cult...ivars this season, under their new banner Vale Garlic - two types are pictured here. The most popular Oriental Purple, also known as Tassie Purple, is the winner in terms of size and sharpness this season, followed by Monaro Purple of Yugoslavian origin but firmly entrenched as an Australian Garlic for nearly 90 years. This cultivar was brought here by the Yugoslavs who helped build the Snowy Hydro Plant. In the strength/heat range these two score 5 out of 5. Excellent real garlic flavour throughout the cooking process. Next on offer is Rose du Var of French origin but now a firm Aussie garlic. It has good texture and the heat score of 3/5 is milder. Has a nutty flavour when roasted which suits pasta sauce and casseroles. Spanish Rojas at 3/5 is of course a Spanish migrant, easy to peel and has been here for generations. Similar applications to Rose du Var. Italian Red & Dutch Cream are at the lower end of heat scale at 2/5. Their mild flavour and buttery texture gain approval by those who desire a subtle touch in their cuisine. #farmersmarket #hilltopsregion #buyfromthebush #shoplocal @ Hilltops Region

04.01.2022 It’s again going to be a very warm morning this Saturday, so a good idea to get down to Anderson Park for the Young and Region Farmers’ Market early before it all melts away. The usual suspects will be there from 9am until they can handle the heat no longer, spruiking the products of their passions. So why not come down and peruse their wares, and have a chat with the makers to see what makes these local products so special.

04.01.2022 Well yes, our Market day is just the day AFTER Valentine's Day this year - but I'm sure your beloved would appreciate a belated collection of local produce and sweet treats far more than a generic gift on time. Or better yet, bring them on a 'date' to your local farmers' market, buy them a coffee and let them soak up the joyful community atmosphere while they shop for their favourite condiment or a candle, some capsicum or cucumber, corn or cupcake or kale or maybe just a multi-layered, multi textured, utterly delicious dessert cup. The love starts at 9am @ Anderson Park on Saturday morning.

02.01.2022 It’s the fifth Saturday of the month in Young so it’s time for an extra ordinary Young and Region Farmers’ Market. Have you had a look at our latest addition, S&K Boutique Vege & Herbs? You might be surprised to see a couple of familiar faces as Steve and Kelly share their re...staurant quality range of kitchen greeneries, fresh from the garden to you. Not sure what to do with them? The guys are more than happy to share their knowledge to get the most out of their produce so get adventurous and check them out. See you there! 9am-1pm @ Anderson Park #farmersmarket #shoplocal #buyfromthebush @ Hilltops Region See more
