25.01.2022 Darts is back As from July 1st the Young Services Club will be able to host darts. Monday nights has been confirmed by the club and we are hopeful of Thursday nights as well. ... We will have confirmation about Thursday nights next week. Ideally we would like to play our teams comp on Thursday nights and our singles comp on Monday nights. We are also waiting to hear if the local pubs can and or want to support darts come July. If the pubs can’t accommodate darts then all matches can be played at the Services Club. Start organising your players and teams. More details next week
25.01.2022 Super Singles 7 - Results Round 9 Last night was the final round of competition ahead of next weeks Finals Night. Highlights from last night were:... In A-reserve grade Lee Drage had a brilliant 15 dart leg Josh Moles who was the best performer winning 10 legs to secure himself 2nd position on the ladder and Josh also had a high pegout of 100. In B-grade Karen Pulliene had a great win against Jackson Lemon 2 -1. This was only Jackson's 3rd loss for the entire competition. In the leg Jackson won against Karen he threw a 24 darter. Phill Hogan had a pretty good night with 2 of his win being in 26 & 28 darts. In C-grade Jason Hogan had a brilliant leg winning with only 28 darts. Next best was his grandfather Max with a 36 darter. The final 8th position in C-grade was decided by a count back after Jenni Davis and Lloyd Floley both finished on 22 wins. With Jenni throwing more Hundreds than Lloyd, Jenni has qualified in 8th position for next weeks finals. A-grade saw all players performing well below standard with the only exception being Darrell Bailey. Darrell won 8 legs which included 17 x 100's and an average of 22.27 The only other highlight was a 118 peg by John Laybutt. Finals Night Can all players please be at the club ready to start by 7:00pm A presentation of Trophies and prize money will immediately follow the conclusion of play. In all grades the format of play is the same. First round matches are: P5 v P8 - loser is out and must score next game P6 v P7 - loser is out and must score next game P1 v P4 P2 v P3 A-grade = Best of 7 A-reserve grade = Best of 5 B-grade = Best of 3 C-grade = Best of 3 Winter Teams Competition Nominations for the winter teams competition close next week. So far only one team has nominated. Please don't assume your team is in. Nominations must be given to Lloyd or left at the Criterion Hotel. 25.01.2022 Premier League - Results Last month saw the conclusion of the Young Darts Associations - Premier League competition. This competition was the first time "Set Play" has been used for a Singles competition in Young. Restrictions because of Covid19 meant it was also the first time iPads were used as well as self scoring. ... The format was 3 matches each night and each Match was 3 Sets of 501 Best of 5 Legs. Once everyone got use to this longer format of play the quality and standard of darts improved to unprecedented levels. Finals Night was played with the same Top 8 system as the Super Singles. The difference being all finals matches were 501 best of 11 Legs. Winner - Anthony Hatch Runner Up - Josh Townsend Semi Finalist - Ian Barrett Semi Finalist - Greg Lestrange Anthony Hatch and Greg Lestrange have once again raised the standard of darts in Young to a level never seen before. Hatchie and Greg dominated the competition from Round One and continued to improve week after week. In their Semi Final match Hatchie defeated Greg 6 legs to 3 with Hatchie averaging 80.01 and Greg averaging 72.79 - brilliant darts. In the Final, Hatchie defeated Josh Townsend by 6 legs to 2. Josh unfortunately couldn't find his rhythm until the closing legs which was just too late. Hatchie pounced and took advantage of every opportunity and thoroughly deserved his victory. Prize Winners Consecutive 140's - Greg Lestrange Bullseye Finish - Darrell Bailey Highest Peg - Josh Townsend 164 Most 100's - Greg Lestrange 259 Competition Highlight - There were numerous highlights through the competition but the one that deserves special mention was the 150 Peg-out by John Laybutt. John pegged the 150 by throwing 3 x Bullseye's. This was the first time 3 x Bullseye's have been used for a 150 finish in local competition and it will be some time before its repeated. 23.01.2022 Darts News Winter Competition - Cancelled It is with much disappointment we announce there will be no Winter Teams Competition this year. ... We may look to run a Summer Teams Competition later in the year if Covid is under control and if there is enough interest. Super Singles There is the option of running another Super Singles competition on Thursdays nights to replace the teams comp. If you would be interested in playing in a new Singles competition please say so in the comments below or message John direct. This competition will utilise iPads for electronic scoring. Players will score their own throws. A-grade Premier League If there is enough interest a Premier League singles competition will be held on Monday nights. The exact format is still to be decided. If you would be interested in playing in this new style of competition please say so in the comments or contact John direct. 14.01.2022 Southern Districts 2020 is ON Great news everyone the Southern Districts competition is going ahead this year and Young is hosting. We have the opportunity to field 4 x Men’s teams and 2 x Women’s teams. Could all players interested in participating please contact Paul Kennedy ASAP. ... The competition starts on Friday 7th August at 11am and will finish Sunday 9th in the afternoon around 2pm. 10.01.2022 Southern Districts - Postponed It is with much disappointment the decision has been made to postpone this year’s Southern Districts competition. The competition will now be held later this year or early next year, it just depends on the COVID situation. ... Obviously, the highest priority is the health & safety of all the players hence why this decision has been made. Local darts (Super Singles) will continue even under the tighter restrictions which come into effect midnight this Friday.
08.01.2022 Darts News Thanks to everyone who attended the darts meeting last night it was great to see familiar faces after the Covid break. The following decisions were made regarding the winter teams competition and the super singles competition.... Super Singles - The previous singles competition will recommence on Thursday 16th July. It will run for 4 weeks - 3 remaining weeks of normal play and the 4th week is Finals Night on Thursday 6th August. The following people still need to pay their $50 nomination fee: Adam Harvey, Bluey Newham, Chris Bliss, Darrell Bailey, Jason Hogan, Jason Mazoudier, John Laybutt, Josh Moles, Josh Townsend, Leanne Gersbach, Lee Drage, Paul Rose, Paul Blizzard, Paul Kennedy. Can these people please pay by the second week back. Play is to commence on or before 7pm and social distancing is to be adhered to - see below. Winter Teams Comp - The teams competition will commence immediately after the singles competition finishes on Thursday 13th August and it will run for 12 weeks with the last round being 29th October. Finals will be played in November - format to be decided. Team nominations for the winter comp are now open. Nomination forms will be at the Criterion Hotel and the Young Hotel. Or, you can give your nomination to Lloyd Foley 0419225889 or John Laybutt 0455202031 Or, you can leave your nomination below. Each team nomination must have a minimum of 4 players with at least 2 phone numbers supplied. There is no maximum number players per team. Nomination close on Thursday 30th July. Cost to Play - Players fees will again be $4 per player per team and the Team registration fee is $150 per team paid by the venues. The format of play is the same as last year - Doubles, Reverse Doubles then Singles. A teams game of 4's will be played if scores are level after Doubles & SIngles. Southern Districts - This Tournament is a 6 person teams competition and this year its being hosted by Young. It starts at 11am on Friday 7th August and will finish around lunchtime on Sunday 9th August. Young can enter 4 mens teams and 2 ladies teams so if you would like to play please contact Paul Kennedy 0457530378 Covid Safe rules will be enforced and the following must be adhered to: Only players and scores allowed in and around the dartboards. If drinking alcohol you must be seated. You are allowed to stand to chat but you must be 1.5m apart. Hand sanitiser to be used along with good personal hygiene at all times. 07.01.2022 Super Singles - Results Round 8 The absolute highlight from Round 8 was the brilliant 170 Peg-out by Brady Lestrange. Brady becomes only the 3rd member of the Young Darts Association to achieve this feat. Peter Boots Watts and Anthony Hatch the other two. Congratulations Brady well done... Also deserving of a notable mention is Stephen Perrett who had a brilliant Bullseye Finish and has won himself the $50 cash prize for this achievement. Stephen also finished with 5 wins for the night which moves him into 4th position on the ladder. Also in C-grade - Kay Zee threw an impressive 4 x 100's and Bluey Newham had a fantastic 33 dart leg. In B-grade - Jackson Lemon continued his dominance with another stellar performance winning 6 from 9 legs to consolidate 1st place on the ladder. In B-grade the $50 cash prize for 2 consecutive hundreds and a Bullseye finish is still up for grabs. In A-reserve grade - Mitch Bawden had a great return to darts winning an impressive 10 legs. Along with his 170 peg Brady Lestrange also had an 18 dart leg. Lee Drage had a great night winning 9 legs which included 3 x 22 darts in succession. Lee also finished with the rounds highest average of 19.03 A big thank you to Russell Edwards from West Wyalong for filling in for the absent Chris Bliss. A-grade - John Laybutt and Darrell Bailey were the best performers winning 9 & 8 legs respectfully. Darrell was "On Fire" early thrashing Josh Townsend 4 to 0 Greg Lestrange threw another 180 and finished with an impressive average of 23.10 Best Legs of the Round were: 15 darts - Greg Lestrange 16 darts - John Laybutt 18 darts - Brady Lestrange 19 darts - Josh Townsend & Greg This Thursday night is the final round of normal competition. A reminder that the Top 8 players qualify for the finals and the Top 4 get a second life on Finals Night. 06.01.2022 Darts Meeting A meeting of the Young Darts Association will be held tomorrow night - Tuesday 7th July at the Service Club commencing at 7:30pm The meeting is to finalise preparations for the winter team’s competition and to discuss the upcoming AGM and the future direction of local darts. ... We are looking for new members to join the committee and to help run the Winter competition. Please encourage as many people to attend as possible.

01.01.2022 Super Singles 7 - Results Rnd 7 Last night saw the welcome return of darts in Young since the Covid19 outbreak. Judging by the results it's clear to see who's been practicing & playing at home and those who haven't Firstly, a big thanks to Bob Berg, Brady Lestrange, Paul Rose and Greg Lestrange for helping with setup of the boards last night - many hands make light work... Some highlights from last night were: In C-grade Lisa Stewart won the $50 cash prize for throwing 2 consecutive hundreds (121 & 100). Sally Hewson equalled with Marto the highest pegout of 89 and Sally also had a brilliant 24 dart leg. With a few players away last night the ladder is now really tight with only 4 legs separating positions 3 to 8. In A-Reserve Grade - Brady Lestrange continued with another impressive performance. Finishing the round with an average of 21.87 Brady's first match against Lee Drage he averaged 24.31 over the 4 legs. Josh Moles finished the night with 7 legs and with Chris Bliss away Josh is now in 3rd position. Lee Drage started the night slowly during her first match against Brady but finished strongly with impressive averages in her last two matches of 18.69 and 17.89. Lee also threw a 20 dart leg. In A-grade another record was set with Greg Lestrange throwing a new best 1 Match average of 28.00 Greg also won 8 legs, finished the night with an average of 23.69 and threw 2 x 180's and 18 x 100's. Josh Townsend won 10 legs and finished the night with a 23.06 average. Thanks to Anthony Hatch who filled in for Paul Kennedy Hatchie had a Patchie night throwing 1 x 180 and finished with an average of 20.79. Best Legs 14 Darts - Greg Lestrange 15 Darts - Josh Townsend 17 Darts - Dave Rogan, Greg, Hatchie 18 Darts - John Laybutt, Phill Sellick, Josh Full Results can be seen below.
