14.01.2022 GREAT LAKES FOOD TRAIL 6TH OCTOBER 2019 9am 4pm Some great local produce and farm tours available from farms from Bulahdelah through to Rainbow Flat just north of Forster, most along the Lakes Way.... Andrew from Yeo Farm Bulahdelah is doing two info talks on Property Planning and how it has helped his family's farm @ 9:30am and then again at 2:00pm Basis of the talk will be: How the Permaculture Design Course with Brett Cooper (of Limestone Permaculture) was a foundation course that enabled Andrew to look at the landscape differently and work with the Yeomans scale of permanence and permaculture as a overreaching philosophy to plan Yeo Farm. Using these design principles he has been able to completely change the landscape to help capture every drop of water that comes onto the property and run a successful paddock-to-plate lamb operation in less than 12 months through the driest season in 40 years in Bulahdelah. Andrew is improving this beautiful property with the animals and his vision is to have a lifestyle that provides fresh food to his family and community using regenerative practices. It all started with planning the property and expanding his thinking outside the fence. Q&A to follow as well as the opportunity to purchase the quality Yeo lamb. April from Wild Temple Naturals will be selling her beautiful soaps and bath melts as well as yummy coffee and treats from neighbours who own the Café on Main in Bulahdelah. The new Great Lakes Food Trail website is looking smick and has a groovy new interactive Google Map! https://www.thegreatlakesfoodtrailnsw.com.au/the-trail We hope to see you there!

14.01.2022 What are be going to do with all that atmospheric carbon? Get it into the soil!

08.01.2022 A brilliant and insightful article from our own Sarah Groom of Homemade Healthy Happy Farm & Farmstay at Waitui on local food and why it matters. Earlier this year, Eversons Abottoir at Frederickton closed its doors to Aussie pig producers which has a significant effect on our local pork and its growers. . . . #localfood #MidCoastfarmers

08.01.2022 A great shot from our neighbours up Byron Bay way! How can you give your paddocks a break? A little recovery goes a long way, especially in drought.

04.01.2022 "A study commissioned by the Federal Department of Environment found that regenerative management practices "have the potential to increase the health of Australia's grassy woodlands and at the same time improve financial and farmer wellbeing". Mark Gardner from Vanguard Business Services said the survey of 16 farms compared incomes against conventional farming systems using ABARES and Australian Bureau of Statistics figures over a 10-year period. It showed that regenerative ...farmers had above average profit levels, especially in dry years." . . . #regenerativeagriculture #farmers #aussiefarmers See more

03.01.2022 A few of our members, your local farmers, at this week's #ClimateStrikeTaree with one of our youngest farmers out front! To read more about the strike, see the Manning River Times article below. https://www.manningrivertimes.com.au//activists-unite-in/

03.01.2022 In conjunction with Landcare and the folks doing amazing things in our Local Land Services, Elemental Ecosystems, Worm Biz, and Old Hill Farm, we're hosting a Rehydrating Landscapes presentation at the Wingham Golf Club on the 18th of February! Rehydrating your farm is how you design drought resilience into your property! The drought has really brought home the importance of holding water in our soils and making sure our riparian zones are functional. We are going hell for leather with erosion control now, trying to retain as much of our top soil as possible after the fires. If you have struggled during the drought and fires, come and listen to trailblazer, Zach Weiss, speak about rehydrating your landscape Tuesday the 18th of Feb.

02.01.2022 "There’s an old saying about soil ‘they’re not making any more of it’ - but some farmers are. They’re drawing on the excess carbon that’s warming the atmosphere and putting it in their soil building fertility and holding precious water." . . . #landline #regenerativeagriculture #thesolutionstoclimatechangeareinthesoil
