25.01.2022 Good vibes today Starting a new biologic treatment called Stelara for my crohns disease. It's been a tough 6 months or more prior to this, fighting a battle everyday with symptom flare ups- trying to keep a happy face day in day out has been challenging..... It took many tests and different medications failing over and over to finally get approved this new medicine. Fingers crossed that this kicks the gut health into remission and back feeling f@#$%G AMAZING! . . . #stelara #crohnsdisease #injections #biologic #drug #medicine #flareup #remission #healthyliving #lifestyle #ibd #warrior #training #fitness #support #helpothers

24.01.2022 REST DAYS A rest day is your day off from training! You can take a break from your regular workout routine to allow your body and mind to recover. A rest day allows your body to consolidate the hard work you’ve been doing, adapt and become stronger and your nervous system has a chance to regenerate. Including appropriate rest in your training program can also help to prevent a plateau or overtraining, which can lead to more damage than good.... You can maintain your fitness level, even on a rest day. Use your rest days to relax and rejuvenate your body and your mind in whatever way works best for you. While sometimes a day of Netflix and chill and a little naughty food is exactly what you need to re-energise, be aware that you don’t want to slip into bad habits. Over the weekend my girlfriend and I decided to venture out into some much needed nature and sunshine. Usually we would have a nice relaxing Sunday at home and chill and have complete rest, but it was the perfect day to be outside and around the beautiful scenery here in Sydney. We drove about an hour north of Sydney to Ku-ring-gai national park to do Sphinx memorial to Bobbin head hike. It was just what we needed. #rest #activelifestyle #recovery #training #lifestyle #autoimmunedisease

23.01.2022 Monday motivation! keep pushing, keep yourself accountable! Here are some lifts from the weekend. Four months in on my Olympic lifting journey and absolutely loving it! Tough and so challenging!! as I'm new to the sport It's been so refreshing to learn and craft a new skill as a beginner lifter. some really good days and also some really tough hard days mentally and physically to get through but all worth it in the end. ... Keep grinding, keep moving and keep the body stimulated. Create some goals and work towards them, bit by bit. Onwards and upwards

22.01.2022 YOUR HEALTH IS AN INVESTMENT, NOT AN EXPENSE! Invest in your health to feel amazing, alive, to have energy, to lose weight, to live longer, to drop a size, to find a personalised program that makes you excited to get out of bed each morning. Some reasons why you could ask for help..... - You’re not sure what exercises you should be doing, or how to use different equipment properly. - You’ve reached a plateau in your exercise and want to push yourself further. - You get bored of your own workouts easily. - You struggle to stay motivated on your own. DM or reach out if you need help with your fitness journey. #healthylifestyle #change #help #crohns #autoimmunedisease #investment #yourself #feelgood #coach #training #weightlifting #journey

20.01.2022 Hey everyone, For the good part of 6 years now, ive been a PT in Bondi, Sydneyi. Over the years I have helped many people to reach their health and fitness goals, it has been an incredible journey to see so many success stories and happy clients and I couldn't be happier. On the other side is my personal journey and challenges through dealing with crohns disease that i have battled with for half my life, and the ups and downs that come along with it. ... Over time, my health and the anxiety it brings me has been very hard, I have good days and bad days. Being medicated for the rest of my life scares me. I've always loved to travel, adventure, get out of my own comfort zone, try new things but over the years my emotions and feelings have heightened and my comfort zone has become much more of a challenge. Saying no to friends, not commiting to events or parties, giving up fun in general. But health comes first, and that's why I beleive that health and well being through fitness has helped change my life to live a easier and happier day to day. I've taken a big step and have recently began an online facebook group and page focused around fitness and wellbeing. It's involves a community that understands. I want to support likeminded people going through the same pains and frustrations by connecting with people that truly relate. My mission is to be better, using my knowledge to push myself more, and to identify what strengths I can use to help and guide people on a better journey through fitness and wellbeing! For those of you that are interested and want to know more about my group and what I've mentioned please send a DM, I would love to hear from you all . . . #crohns #ibd #colitis #autoimmunedisease #awarness #warrior #fitness #healthylifestyle #crohnsdisease #help #transformation #beyou

20.01.2022 How mobilty work can prevent injuries and make you stronger! Having optimal mobility and movement lets you achieve better positions, which will allow you to be more efficient in your lifts or movements, in turn, will get stronger and faster. Matching your warmup with your workout will not only activate the muscles you’re focusing on, but also prepare the right joint alignment and muscle activation.... I'm doing a lot of Olympic weightlifting and this has helped me dramatically improve my overall strength, movements and functionality each and every session. There are two reasons to do mobility work, to prevent getting injured and to get stronger. Nothing will put the hurt on your gains like a shoulder, knee or strain that prevents you from lifting in the first place. Everyone should be including mobility work in their training to ensure they’re performing at their best and decreasing their risk for injury! Do you take time to prime the body before you workout? 15.01.2022 Hello friends, Feel free to share and join this group and express your journey and tell me a bit about yourself! A little bit about me - I'm Hamish, I have been living with Crohn's disease for most of my life. As I'm sure you know, living with a chronic illness isn't always easy. I have spent many nights awake in extreme agony, I have missed social events and experienced shame and embarrassment because of my condition.... I'm also a personal trainer. I love fitness and I have found significant relief though learning how to live well through fitness, diet & overall wellness behaviours. Incorporating fitness into my life has been transformational for living with my condition, and I want to help share everything I have learnt in the hope it can help you too. Some of the illness support pages I have found over the years either haven't focused on fitness, have been fairly negative and have sometimes seemed more like a complaint page instead of a support one. This has to change. I'm here to flip the script on illness, let's all share what we have learnt about keeping well while living with autoimmune disease. I look forward to connecting with you! https://www.facebook.com/groups/3299077670177243 #crohnsdisease #autoimmunedisease #fitness #healthylifestyle #change #crohnsandcolitis #IBD #support #wellness

14.01.2022 Accessory work Being slightly fatigued doesn't mean you shouldn't continue training, and accessory exercises offer you the chance to do that without the same risk of injury or overtrain you'd be exposed to if you just performed primary exercises over and over for too long. Accessory exercises also allow you to focus on different muscle group or hit certain muscle groups in different ways. This can help improve your weakness and imbalances and makes you a stronger and more ...efficient with your training. When used properly, not only will accessory exercises make you stronger and more adept in a variety of movement patterns, but they'll also help you get better and stronger with overall lifts. Train safe, train smart. . . . I have created a free group that aims to offer support for people like me who want to learn to live well through fitness. 08.01.2022 http:// Many people have the misconception that they need to suffer during any workout in order for it to be effective. Certain types of exercise can definitely push us out of our comfort zone, which is sometimes what we want anf it feels great, but we don't need to struggle through every workout to get the result. Most will be less likely to stick with a program routine if they dread starting each workout.... What type of training do you really enjoy? Strength,Cardio, resistance training, circuit training, yoga?? What type of workouts do your body respond best to? Which workouts leave you feeling energized and feeling 10/10 ? Which workouts do you look forward to starting everyday? Let me know . . .

07.01.2022 Over the past month or more ive been kncked about with a horrible flare up, dealing with my own pains and emotions day in day out, no sign of full recovery in sight. It can be scary and hard to deal with for myself and the people around me, especially my girlfriend, (who is an absolute superstar of a human for helping me through this whole journey ) it just feels like it will never end. The good news I'm starting to recover and things are improving and I'm able to eat the f...oods I love and not worry about using the bathroom 20 times a day If you are in the middle of a flare up or hit by a wave of fatigue, exercising might be the last thing you feel like doing. Physical activity has huge benefits for overall health, wellbeing and stress. So how do you keep active when dealing with autoimmune symptoms, without pushing your limits too far for the sake of an extra 10kg lifting weights on your bench press or running an extra km? The key is scaling your activities. Learn what you are capable of when in remission and when in full-on flare. Low-intensity activities such as body weight exercises, a 30-minute walk or a light bike ride can help keep your fitness levels up. If you can manage this three times a week, you will be able to maintain fitness that you can build on when in better health. If in flare-up, focus on strength maintenance or low impact training. Rest when you need to, and stop when your body tells you. Take full advantage of symptom-free periods, take on a new challenge, increase your weight training, or step up your fitness goals. Improvements made during this time will help you greatly during flares or times of high stress. Plan exercise activities that allow for bathroom breaks if necessary, such as short exercise classes or circuits at a gym. Meet with a fitness Coach to map out a program that meets your needs and figure out a plan for the good days and the bad. This will help you gradually build your strength and fitness, without aggravating symptoms or adding too much stress to your body. Listen to the body, rest when you need. Recover safely and get back your healthy loving life asap! #crohns #autoimmune #healthy #love
