22.01.2022 Sports Lab MVP of the week With the sun shining on Sunday the 1st round of the league was finally underway. It was a hard day in the office for all three teams in the blistering mid day sun but despite that we had stand out play from a number of YI crew....... Ladies MVP: Michelle Miller Moyles Playing out of position from her usual wing back and instead as fullback, as always like the true leader she is lead by example fighting for every ball, backing up her team mates and not giving her opponent an inch of breathing space. Mens Senior MVP: Paddy O Rourke Mens Junior MVP: Luke OConnor Paddy is reaping the benefits from Tommy Joes coaching and Ulster football background whilst Luke is combining well with the junior playmaker Stevie Jennings Enjoy your well earned sports Massage vouchers courtesy of Sport Lab #yiabu #youngirelands #nswgaa #lgfa #gaa #homewasneverlikethis

18.01.2022 Attention Young Ireland members That time of year again Its really important to have NSW registration completed ASAP... For the new members to our club, just to explain the two registrations required to play for the year. NSW registration: $160. This covers you insurance wise if you pick up any injuries throughout the year. You are required to pay this ASAP. Young Ireland registration: $120. This joins you to the club itself and covers costs for your gear, pitches etc. This can be paid at a later date - usually Feb. To pay your NSW registration, follow this link : https://membercui.active.com/memb/membership-reg/enterEmail Should that not work , follow the instructions as per picture attached. If you have any hassle go to NSW GAA on Facebook and its fairly self explanatory. Otherwise shoot a message to let us know

16.01.2022 Travel Advice For the Irish in Australia who are not Permanent Residents/Citizens, the advice, as of this morning, is that the flight options for returning to ...Ireland are disappearing rapidly. While everyones circumstances are different, anyone who considers themselves at risk of financial instability as a result of the COVID 19 (Corona Virus) related employment downturn and is not confident of supporting themselves, should be looking to get home as soon as possible or run the risk of getting locked in. Please note there are very limited supports available for non-nationals here in Australia. All returning Irish Nationals will be asked to self isolate for 14 days. Anybody in need of support during what is clearly an anxious time please contact us by phone on 1800186966. We are available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. The on call service for emergencies is operational between 8am and 8pm daily. We ask that all Irish Community groups share this amongst their membership as it is clear from the dialogue on certain channels that the message is not getting through. Please share with anyone you feel may be impacted. See more

16.01.2022 Throwback Thursday As we are about to start a new year with the club, we take a look back at a very special event that was held in Ireland in October to celebrate Young Irelands 50 years. Being a part of young Ireland is something very special. Its not just playing football in Sydney , its making lifelong friends and belonging to a family when we are so far from home. Its a connection to our roots and a reminder that home is never too far away. ... The 50th celebration that was held in the Midlands park hotel in Portlaoise proved to be a great night where there was connecting with old friends and meeting new ones. There was representatives from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 2010s and some very newly returned club people. It was a night that showed the importance that Young Ireland GAC has played in the lives of so many people. It's a history and a legacy that we can all be proud to be part of. Photos from the night are below. The link to the photos from the slideshow is here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ Everyone here at Young Ireland in Sydney would like to say a massive thank you to The committee that organised this event: Brian Deane, Louise Kelly, Tommy Moran, Noirin Moran, Brian Fitzpatrick, Caroline Fitzpatrick, Tommy Mulligan, Tommy Courtney, Riche Coss. Without your hard work and dedication this event would not have taken place. We would also like to acknowledge the donation made by Young Ireland Gaa to four charities that have a special place in the hearts of many of our players. These donations were : Irish Dogs for the Disabled - 234.04 Brainwaves NI - 234.94 Cystic Fibrosis Ireland - 500 National Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation 502.95 The above is an example of the sense of belonging and community that you become a part of when you join Young Ireland. So if you are thinking of joining a club here in Sydney , make it Young Ireland. Not just a club - a family #GaaFamily #YoungIreland #IrishInOz

03.01.2022 Meet 4 year old Darcy! He was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. He is close to the end of his first cycle of intensive chemotherapy and he has been in an isolation room in Perth Children's Hospital for 5 weeks now with his mum. He will undergo another chemo cycle before a bone marrow transplant. However we have one problem, we cant find a donor!! No immediate family members have been found to be suitable and the international registry has... come back empty. The current COVID situation is making everything more complicated as well. We are appealing to you to be his super hero and share this with your community to see if anybody will become a bone marrow donor. If you are 18-45 and of Irish Decent then you could help Darcy! You need to make an appointment at your local Australian Red Cross Lifeblood centre and enrol for the The Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry! Its that easy to help save lives! While your there sign up to our KCSG LifeBlood Team! For kids like Darcy!
