If you are a primary school aged singer who loves singing and would like the opportunity to perform in a fun, energetic ensemble- get in touch! 02.01.2022 To our wonderful supporters After much deliberation, we reluctantly announce the cancellation of this years City of Hobart Eisteddfod. This decision was especi...ally difficult for us as we were looking forward to celebrating our 70th year with a special concert that brought together Eisteddfod alumni, friends and donors, and our current young performers. We are a relatively small Eisteddfod by Australian standards and, like so many arts organisations these days, operate on a modest budget buoyed by the generosity of our sponsors and donors. Our adjudicators are mostly from interstate, and the costs incurred are balanced by performance participation and audience numbers. We cannot, as some other Eisteddfods are contemplating, run a closed competition. Some teachers are closing their studios, which will make it harder for students to adequately prepare. We feel it is important to run a competition where everyone can feel best prepared and confident, in a safe and secure environment. We realise this will be enormously disappointing for everyone involved, but feel it is necessary to make this decision sooner rather than later. All indications are that the current crisis will not blow over quickly and may indeed escalate further. The good news is that we will postpone our 70th Anniversary to 2021 where we celebrate the 70th running of the event. So, stay tuned! Further information regarding the implications for all stakeholders including entrants, donors, patrons and supporters will follow as soon as possible.
