24.01.2022 Over the past couple of weeks we have been sending out YVM Singing at Home emails with ways for our singers to keep in touch with their choir music and continue to develop their musical skills. We have put all this together in a more convenient forum at Google Classroom, and we encourage you to join our classrooms and spend some time with your child so that they can access the materials there. (Check your email for details!) You will find singing things to do on the Classwork... page, and you can send us messages on the Stream page. We would love to see videos of you practising choir songs, and would extra love to see family singing! Here's a family singing together to make you smile today https://www.facebook.com/ben.marsh.1650/videos/10163265168130176/

23.01.2022 As we finish up our last week of zoom rehearsals for term 2, here’s a reminder of a wonderful concert from this time last year with our dear friend Malcolm Dalglish. We look forward to when we can share the pure joy of group singing again. (Rehearsal footage)

19.01.2022 Hi all, please read the below important update from Mark regarding rehearsals and COVID-19. Further detail available in your email: Beginning and Junior Training Choir Families: There is NO rehearsal tonight (16/3) or Monday 23rd March. Senior Training Choir Families: STC camp this weekend has been postponed due to increasing concerns over the spread of the corona virus. This camp has been re-booked for later in the year. Details in your email. ... We will not have a rehearsal on Monday 23rd March (as already advised) so we won't be seeing the Senior Training Choir until term 2. Choir and YVMen families: please check your email for details on changed venue and rehearsal times. There are no Tuesday small groups for the next two weeks. We will keep you posted if anything changes between here and Thursday. I am sad about the disruption to everyone's singing, but I will be sending through some resources to keep everyone singing and learning in the extended break that we now face. Keep well, keep singing and let's not let this topsy turvy time get us down. Let's enjoy the sunshine, and know that we will get through these crazy times! -Mark

16.01.2022 While we are all missing our weekly live rehearsals and other choir activities, the YVM team is working hard to present great zoom sessions, and keep the google classrooms full of singing fun. Here's some photos from past choir adventures to make you smile, and to give you something to look forward to for when rehearsals return.

14.01.2022 Today was supposed to be the first day of our tour to Italy and England celebrating our 30th anniversary. Instead we concluded Term 2 with our It’s not quite a concert concert on Zoom (complete with red and black outfits) featuring our singers in main choir and YVMen performing a one hour concert from memory for each other, complete with well researched introductions for each song prepared by the singers. We hope all our YVM singers, families and community stay safe during the holidays.

14.01.2022 Flashback to this time last year: the choir was on tour in WA, performing in some incredible venues, including the WA Maritime Museum in the spectacular Australia II Gallery. Meanwhile, a small group of our Senior Training Choir members were performing with Basement Jaxx and The Metropolitan Orchestra at Margaret Court Arena!

13.01.2022 Someone in this chorister’s house has been practising! Have you visited our google classrooms yet? Check your email for details on how to access the classrooms and for rehearsal plans moving forward. Stay safe and keep singing

13.01.2022 WORLD PREMIERE: I(solace)ion When Exaudi was forced to move rehearsals online, we responded by writing and recording a piece about our experiences in isolation. Choir members contributed text and musical ideas via the Zoom chat box and break out rooms, and assistant conductor Juliana Kay compiled their ideas into this piece. Although we can’t sing together in person, we continue to find solace in isolation by making music in new ways.... Music and lyrics by Juliana Kay and the members of Exaudi youth choir Percussion: Bridget Bourne Mix and Video Production: Kade Neale Exaudi is directed by Mark O’Leary OAM Assistant conductor: Juliana Kay See more at Exaudi's YouTube Channel: https://youtu.be/HkiIUeuugk8 http://www.exaudi.com.au/

12.01.2022 Here’s one more from the concert last year - it is too beautiful not to share. We look forward to seeing all our YVM families and friends when it is safe to do so.

05.01.2022 YVM: Photos from the archive. These are from 1991 and 1993. We hope all of our choir families and friends are staying safe and well during the current health crisis. We are thinking of you all.

03.01.2022 Here's a musical treat for your Monday afternoon. Out There - words and music by Dan Walker. Turn your volume up loud, it will make you smile for sure! https://youtu.be/qEk_Hz2hqRk

02.01.2022 We had our first YVM and YVMen online rehearsal tonight and played a game of Solfa Knockout - eyes closed, on mute, turning video off if they go out, with Mark playing the notes. Lots of fun!

02.01.2022 Sadly, we have decided to cancel all rehearsals until after the school holidays. We will send some resources to our singers via email, please keep an eye on your email as this is our main form of communication with families. Many of us have been reminded at this time how much we love coming together to sing. But in time there will be more rehearsals, concerts, tours and fun together and in the mean time we will survive. If you need cheering up, then have a sing along to this... ... (costumes recommended) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgp2wvhzp9k
